Hotel Description

Hotel New York is a modern hotel and café-restaurant, international in scale, in the former headquarters of the Holland America Line. The hotel is situated in one of the most attractive spots in Rotterdam. Hotel New York does not intend to look back nostalgically, rather it wants to bring to life, in its own special way, the hospitality and the elegance of travelling in the age of the big steamliners. The hotel has spacious rooms with high ceilings, of which 2 tower rooms and a penthouse. The rooms offered by Hotel New York vary in shape, size and colour. Most rooms have a great view over the river.

On the outside, the former head office of the Holland-Amerika Lijn has a cosmopolitan feel: its facade is symmetrical in design, with balconies, dormer windows, towers and decorations; the style to which most grand hotels built around 1880 adhered. In addition, the building is magnificently situated, with views of the city's skyline, the harbour and the river - another precondition for a Grand Hotel. At night you can experience the peace and tranquillity of a hotel on the waterfront. From the building's many vantage points, you can watch the often spectacular sunsets, while the windows afford views of the clouds and city lights.
Hotel New York has two towers, both of which are hotelrooms. While 19th century hotels had carriages with a regular coachman, and later a limousine with chauffeur, this hotel offers the services of a watertaxi with skipper! This means you will be in the Veerhaven (old ferry harbour) directly opposite to the hotel in 5 minutes. If you prefer to be ferried to the towncentre, you can get off at Leuvehaven.

Restaurants and Bars

The ground floor has a large café-restaurant which seats 400 guests, where one can eat either à la carte, extensively or simply, from a simple tomato-basil soup to a delicious piece of lobster in creamsauce, from early in the morning to late at night. There is an oyster bar and tea salon; afternoon tea is served from 15:00 to 18:00.
Enjoy the sun at the terrace or in the park next to the hotel, where you can have a picknick during the summer!
A true meeting place for both locals and travellers, surrounded on all sides by river views, with the city accross the way.

• Deposit: No deposit will be charged.
• Internet: Wireless internet is available in the entire hotel and costs EUR 8.00 per hour.
• Pets: Pets are not allowed.
• Parking: Private parking is possible at a location nearby and costs EUR 22.00 per day.
• Extra Charges: VAT is included. Service charge is included. City/tourist tax is not applicable.
• Children and extra beds: All children are welcome. All children under 2 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding. All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots. All older children or adults are charged EUR 35.00 per night and person for extra beds. Maximum capacity of total guests in a room is 4.
• Cancellations: If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

Directions

• Public transport from the central station
Take tram no. 20, which runs over the Erasmusbrug (stop Wilhelminaplein). From there it is 10 minutes walking distance to Hotel New York.
The subway also stops at the Wilhelminaplein.

• Public transport in combination with the watertaxi
- Veerhaven
From the Central Station take tram no.5 direction Willemsplein (stop Westplein). The watertaxi is berthed in the south eastern corner of the Veerhaven.
- Leuvehaven
This taxi will take you under the Erasmus bridge. From the Central Station take the subway direction Slinge or Spijkenisse (stop Leuvehaven). The watertaxi (Leuvehaven) is berthed between the Buitenmuseum and the Maritiemmuseum.

Take note!
The watertaxi does not sail during gale force winds and heavy mist.

The watertaxi sails from Monday up until Thursday: 07.00-24.00 hrs,
Friday from07.00-01.00 hrs,
Saturday from 09.00-01.00 hrs and
Sunday from 09.00-24.00 hrs.
