Built in 1742, the Castle Venlaw Hotel in Peebles, Scotland, has been operating as a country boutique hotel since 1949. Here you can be assured of a unique, wonderful experience combined with the warmest of welcomes and a superb level of service.

Nestled in some 12 acres of woodlands, the Castle Hotel's private gardens extend onto the famous and well kept Venlaw Woods which boasts a beautifully designed tree-trail, enabling you to enjoy the stunning countryside views and walks.

Private functions are hosted in the Adam Room which will seat between 25-35 guests.

The award-winning restaurant, Le Cépage, offers à la carte dining with menus that are changed on a daily basis. For special occasions, the kitchen will be happy to prepare bespoke menus and, of course, can cater to your dietary requirements.

During your stay you are invited to relax in the warm and inviting Library Bar with its log fire and wonderful views over the grounds. The Library Bar is set in one of the Castle's turrets and is truly an enchanting place in which to unwind, spend time with friends and family, indulge in a Scottish whisky or 2 and enjoy pre-dinner drinks and canapés.

Directions

Edinburgh, just 22 miles away, is easily accessible by train or air, thereafter car hire is available and can be arranged for you. Peebles can also be reached by coach from any main centre.

Glasgow - one hour
Newcastle - 2 hours
York and Manchester - 3½ hours

From Edinburgh:
Follow the A 703 south to Peebles.
The hotel drive is on the left just after the 30 mph sign and is clearly signposted.

From Carlisle:
- Take the M6 at Carlisle.
- Continue onto the A74 and M74 to Moffat (approx 36 miles).
- Turn off the M74 into Moffat and drive straight through the town centre following signs to Edinburgh A701.
- Stay on this road for 23 miles.
- Turn right, signposted B712 Peebles.
- In 8 miles, at the T junction, turn right, signposted A72 Peebles.
- Follow the road into Peebles.
- Turn left at the roundabout into Peebles High Street.
- At end of High Street, turn left, signposted A703 Edinburgh.
- Follow this road for just under one mile and you will see the Shell petrol station (not BP) on your left.
- The hotel entrance is just after this on your right.
(Please note: don't be tempted to turn up Venlaw Hill before the petrol station as there is no vehicle access from this road).
