Hotel Description

The Hill Education and Conference Centre is an elegant, restored country house steeped in history and set in beautiful grounds overlooking Abergavenny and Blorenge Mountain.

Perched on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, The Hill has a peaceful, secluded position. The hotel is within easy reach of Abergavenny, easily accessible by rail and 30 minutes from the M4 and M50.

A warm welcome is guaranteed by the experienced and friendly team. Enjoy a stroll around Gardd-y-Bryn, the hotel’s restored Victorian walled garden with views of the surrounding hills.

All bedrooms have en suite facilities (some with showers, others with baths) and some single rooms are located in the main house. The premises is licensed but there are occasions when the bar is not available. Dinner is available but must be booked in advance.

A lift is available to all floors.

Restaurants and Bars

Here at The Hill, a range of home-cooked food is prepared using locally sourced fresh meat and produce wherever possible.

A full Welsh or continental breakfast is served together with freshly brewed Colombian coffee as well as homemade cakes and pastries.

Experienced organisers of private events and functions such as lunches and special dinners, whatever your celebration, The Hill promise to exceed your expectations with good quality food, coupled with fine surroundings and a relaxing ambience.

The kitchen staff will be pleased to prepare a menu especially for your event. All dietary requirements are catered for. Sample menus available on request.

All meals are complemented by a varied wine menu including Welsh, Italian, Australian, French and Spanish wines. Or, for that special occasion, champagne is available.

Area Information

Abergavenny is the traditional gateway to South Wales and the incomparable Brecon Beacons National Park, as well as to the important World Heritage Site at Blaenavon. This ancient and welcoming town is the ideal centre for a truly wonderful, refreshing holiday, whether it be a short break at any time of the year or a longer leisurely stay.

The town itself, caressed by the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains and nestling in the famous Usk Valley, is full of historic, architectural, cultural and scenic interest. It is proud of its past and its traditions and yet up-to-the-minute in meeting the present day needs of tourists and local people.

Directions

By Car:
From London:
- Take the M4 to Newport, Gwent.
- At junction 24, take the A449 and A40 to Abergavenny (approximately 2 1/2 hours).

From Birmingham:
- Take the M5 south to junction 8.
- Join the M50 to Ross on Wye.
- Take the A40 to Abergavenyy via Monmouth (approximately 1 1/2 hours).

From Manchester:
- Take the M6 south.
- Exit at junction 10a and join the M5 at Birmingham.
- From there, follow the above directions from Birmingham (approximately 3 hours).

From West Wales:
- Take the M4.
- Exit at junction 26.
- Join the A4042 to Abergavenny (approximately 1 1/2 hours).

By Train:
InterCity Services to Newport, connections to Abergavenny. Taxis are available from the railway Station.
