"Overall a very enjoyable stay." (97360985)

Didn't have time to try out the facilities but the hotel is nice and central - very close to the shops (if only I'd had the time!) and New Street Station for travelling to the NEC. Good choice of restaurants in the area too.

Nothing really - except I could't find a radio (but wasn't there long enough to mention or worry about it!) and some guests on my floor who kept banging doors late at night.

Excellent location, represents good value for money.

Shower on Saturday morning was tepid and nothing we could do made the water run warm!

"Overall good value for money for city centre hotel." (97728870)

Good location, good price for location, great staff, very helpful

Breakfast very expensive, rooms hot with window closed, noisy with window open. Room furnishings/fittings perhaps not quite as good as expected for 4 star but adequate.

We got a very good size room that was well presented and included everything we needed for the one night stay.

The room smelled of smoke and the water pressure of the shower was poor and inconsistent. Decor was dated.

"I would have liked to have known that the hotel was in need of refurbishment. I would also like to have know whether the hotel was fully air conditioned or not. We spent as little time as possible in the hotel." (97301567)

It was convenient for the NIA.

    The receptionist was rude; there were tiles off the wall in the en-suite; there was no air conditioning; the room was generally scruffy and in need of refurbishment;

The staff were friendly and welcoming, the bar staff inparticular. The location was excellent, as was the size and cleanliness of the room. The bed was also very comfy.

Found it hard to turn the cold tap on.

"Booking was easy via the net - the hotel was clean & tidy. The food was fine & the bar area was friendly. All the staff were friendly & efficient. The only drawback really was lack of parking" (97490753)

Hotel was conveniently sited for the National Indoor Arena

Car parking could have been easier - my partner arrived late & we had no space

"Check in was very easy and because we stayed there only the previous week, we knew what to expect. The room was very clean and the bathroom was spotless. The radiator was on, so the room was very cosy and warm which was needed on a very rainy day! The only complaint really was the price of the breakfast, £16.95 for a bit of bacon & eggs? So we skipped that and went to Wetherspoons down the road for a fiver! Overall though, no complaints and we would definately stay again." (97491348)

Room was very clean & tidy and warm. The bathroom was spotless and there was nothing to complain about really.

Location is good. Attitude of staff - Above standard as a customer experience.

Room was positioned at rear of hotel over looking large bins. Lots of noise between 0600 and 0700 which woke me. Do not hold the hotel responsible for this as they appeared to be servicing next building. Still annoying though.

"The hotel was ideal for a one night stay and was convenient for our visit to the Symphony hall. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Just a shame the breakfast staff were too eager to clear the breakfast stuff away before breakfast was finished." (97908502)

    Convenient location for Symphony Hall

Breakfast was supposed to be served until 11AM, but at 10:40 all of the buffet items, jams and sauces were put away and we had to ask for them. The toaster was also turned off at this point. So we felt that we were in the way!!!!

"Great value for money if you're not too fussed about top notch luxury rooms. Ours was a little bit noisy due to other guests returning late at night or checking out but perfectly acceptable for somewhere to put your head down for a couple of nights. Excellent location - easy access to train station, city centre, concert halls, etc." (97695132)

Excellent location - brilliant for access to train station, city centre, symphony hall and art gallery.

Rooms a bit small and rather noisy.

"The breakfast at the hotel is a ridiculous price, but there are plenty of places very close for much cheaper. Although the hotel is on a busy road, inside the hotel is very quiet." (97924422)

The hotel was very easy to find, and in a great location, near everything we needed. The hotel was very clean throughout.

The lack of information. There was no general information about things to do,even when we asked at reception. Even worse there was no information about the hotels facilities. There was nothing displayed to say the fitness suite was out of order, there was no info about the Turners grill, so I could not tell you whether it was well priced or not.

good location, free wifi access in lobby, clean, quiet (we were on the 5th floor)

Breakfast not included although vouchers available for £10 per person. There's a cafe nearby which does breakfast for less than a fiver. Staff were a bit abrupt.

Noise, both inside hotel and external (double glazing useless). Whole bedroom and bathroom in dire need of renovation. Bar/lounge seating area drafty and uninviting. Range of food available from supposed bar menu very poor. Bar staff very pleasant but slow service. Turners Grill overpriced compared to other local restaurants. Smelt smoke fumes from other bedromms on a non-smoking floor.

"The hotel has a modern lobby and bar area(bar staff were very friendly), but this was spoiled for me by the old fashioned decor in the room which was about 20 years out of date and is not shown(for obvious reasons) on the website. It's situated in walking distance from the train station, Birmingham NIA, ICC and the NEC. It's also within walking distance from the canal which has loads of trendy restaurants and bars. This hotel was adequate for an overnight stay but I don't know whether I would want to stay longer than a night." (97594773)

"we got to the hotel early & was able to book in at 9.00am before our conferance started.we also request everytime to overlook the front of the hotel as we find it quieter & we are accommadated everytime. we have found in the past that the bar gets a bit chilly with the air conditioning on then suffer hot rooms upstairs. on this occasion we had to be evacuated in the middle of the night due to the fire alarm going off. by the time we had realised what was going on & got out of our room a member of staff was already on our floor ( 5th) telling people where to go, we were impressed with the staff on that night on how quick they were on evacuating the hotel. the only bug bear was that there are no lights on the fire escape & several people including myself missed several bottom steps & luckily no one injured themselves." (97661525)

its central location to the nia & icc which we use for our conferances & also the close proximity to new st & broad street

the rooms can get hot during warmer weather & we even turned the heating down this weekend as the room was too warm for us.
