  • 9/10 Marc (Group of adult friends)

from Liskeard , GB on  June 2, 2008

"Good stay overall, although the one bad night seemed like it was never going to end at the time. When we complained we were given a different room immediately. Without that night it would have been an excellent stay." (97753591)

Friendly staff, good breakfasts, comfortable communal areas [bar and swimming pool] good location for travelling around the area, clean well maintained rooms,

the room we were in the first night was noisy [a generator or some such machine was going all night]which gave us one bad night

  • 9/10 Andrew (Mature couple)

from Swansea , GB on  June 1, 2008

Spacious, clean and comfortable. Quality tourist information supplied. Great food from the bar.

As always the cost of a bottle of wine is over the top.

  • 9/10 Anonymous (Mature couple)

"This hotel is very clean, with friendly and helpful staff, and good quality room accommodation. The bar prices are extortionate, but the restaurant produces good food, and the breakfast was a real surprise - everything you might want, including a non-greasy full English." (97658130)

The accommodation was very clean and had every facility we needed.

It was where my meeting was so convenient. I also liked that the receptionist asked if I wanted a first floor room as a lone female.

    No radiators

  • 9/10 Michael (Mature couple)

from Leeds , GB on  January 22, 2008

"Temperature in restaurant was either too hot or too cold - never just right. Design of swimming pool was bizarre. 8 foot deep at one end down to steps at the other and so completely impractical for exercise swimming. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was good for sightseeing and very quiet." (97983006)

    spacious, well equiped (2 armchairs!)

  • 8/10 Martin (Family with young children)

from Wakefield , GB on  January 5, 2008

Nice clean room. Housekeeping staff were friendly and very helpful. Choice of pillows a nice option.

    Beds a bit too firm.

"overall our stay was very pleasant. In fact, pleasantly surprising as never stayed in a Holiday Inn before. the Leisure Club was also a nice surprise and most welcoming." (97223712)

clean and comfortable beds and welcoming atmosphere. Though having sheets on the bed was a little archaic. A duvet, I would have thought would have been more welcoming.

apart from the lack of a duvet - nothing

As this was a work related stay there were other people in the party whose accomodation I was not intending to pay for. As it is I have now settled my account with Visa but am out of pocket until our organisation processes my expenses claim." (97894503)

  • 10/10 Anonymous (Mature couple)

    on  March 21, 2007

"The hotel was lovely. However, there were lots of banging doors during the night, the whole night, but I assumed this was due to the high winds. However, on checking out the following morning, a group of young men were being quite abusive to the receptionist as they were being charged additional amounts for unsuitable behaviour, which could have been the noises we heard during the night, which did disrupt our sleep. The receptionist handled the situation extremely well though!" (99246565)

  • 9/10 Anonymous (Family with young children)

    on  February 24, 2007

"Conveniently situated from Newcastle. The Hotel overall was excellent, having our two children included in the price was great value. As we were only booked in for breakfast this was excellent, the choices multiple, well presented and prepared. Value for money." (99155170)

Heated bathroom flooring, all the added extras for our convenience.

No duvet at night, air conditioning to cool, continous noise from bathroom extractor fan overnight.

  • 4/10 Anonymous (Solo business traveller)

    on  December 5, 2006

"Poor value , very basic and drab room with major faults regarding noise even with double glazing . This room 105 should not be let in my view because of the unnaceptable noise" (99947408)

the room was next to noisy extraction plant -- could not sleep. The sink tap leaked over the floor. The decor was tatty and and the room cold on arrival and the radiator was noisy

  • 9/10 Anonymous (Family with older children)

Family room, lesure facilities, Especially good breakfast

    A little impersonal check in.

  • 7/10 Richard (Solo business traveller)

from Milford haven , United Kingdom;GB on  July 31, 2006

"Hotel is very tired and needs up-dating with a little love and care required." (3304964952)

    location

This hotel is geared for airport travellers and this shows through on all service levels, car park is a total mess.

  • 8/10 David (Group of adult friends)

    from Belfast , United Kingdom;GB on  July 21, 2006

"had a good time , hotel was comfortable and staff were friendly. 8/10 ... it was dead on." (3304772778)

    room was bigger than expected.

sliding doors did not open furtheras it was really hot and a/c unit was not good enoughfor hot weather.

  • 7/10 Anonymous (Young couple)

    on  July 18, 2006

"Once inside the main entrance was a litle souless. When approached counter, could hear staff discussing work related matters. No way of attracting their attention (eg no bell). Did notice a small camera monitoring the counter but it could have been for security. The nature of the breakfast. Some dishes were not replenished during the a.m. serving. Good idea to have two types of sausages - but neither vegetarian." (3304702747)

Basic, clean, fit for purpose. Great to be able to open a window/sliding doors to the outside to get fresh air. Good to be offered complementary toiletries etc in event of forgetting them. Rapid checking out system

Was next to a stairwell and noise of people walking up/down stairs early morning was intrusive.

  • 6/10 David (Mature couple)

    from Sheffield , United Kingdom;GB on  June 26, 2006

"Conveniently located on the A1 the hotel building is pleasantly designed. Although no longer modern it has aged well. The downside of the location is, unsurprisingly, traffic noise. We got a good price via the web and the room was pleasant and quite spacious although the bed was too small for two. The inclusive breakfast was better than often found in this price range." (3304863917)

room quite spacious, decor tasteful, including good art prints on walls

bed too small for 2; room airless without opening window, then traffic noise

    "as above" (2980355)

very happy with the service and would gladly recommend you to others, will be staying again for certain.

breakfast, the only downside to while stay was the cost of breakfast, far too steep, but otherwise excellent

  • 8/10 Anonymous (Solo leisure traveller)

    on  June 8, 2005

Staff were very helpful, especailly on reception and the room was large and clean. The room service breakfast was excellent.

A little expensive for a single night for one person.

"Where the room was located! Also if a superior room was available." (2299323)

The fact that the room was over the generator so there was a noise all night, and no voew at all except a wall!

"Hotel in a good location for too many things to mention,Local area advice given by friendly staff in hotel, food good but if you want something different loads of options close by." (2184211)

went to chill out and did, lots of other options if required.

The pool area, sauna and steam room look tired but still adequate

  • 8/10 Denise (Mature couple)

    from Middlesbrough , United Kingdom;GB on  February 17, 2005

"Disappointed to discover on arrival that breakfast not included in cost. On line booking form said Children's breakfast not included giving impression that adult breakfasts were included.Felt 94 pounds over the top for room only. Extremely friendly and helpful staff helped make the stay enjoyable." (1899461)

Comfortable bed.Ample parking. Extremely helpful staff.Enjoyable evening meal.

Bathroom rather jaded decor. Bedroom smelt of smoke-would prefer non smoking room option.
