Room was comfortable, food was excellent. Staff attentive without being instrusive

Single room was on the small side. Once shut, I could not open the window.

Personal attentin of staff, all very engaging - excellent food and a convivial bar

    Comfortable. Friendly. Convenient Parking

  • 7/10 Anonymous (Mature couple)

    on  February 18, 2008

"We liked the option to leave towels on rail to save on laundry - unfortunately we returned to our room later in the day to find the towels had been removed and replacements not supplied as our room had not been serviced. a minus on housekeeping. We were disappointed on the first morning breakfast service - very slow and noticed we were waiting munch longer than others who came in later than ourselves. Situation of hotel and parking very good." (97130745)

Accommodation was very comfortable and we were given a spacious room

    Television was old fashioned.

  • 10/10 Jaime (Solo business traveller)

from Tyne & wear , GB on  February 11, 2008

The staff were very friendly and helpful, room services was great. The room was just the right size for one person. The bathroom was excellant and just what is needed.

The lack of information. I was not sure where to go for an evening meal and if I was able to put the bill on to the hotel room. I was under the impression that the hotel & bar were ran as Two seperate business. Which I know now is not the case

  • 9/10 Duncan (Solo business traveller)

from Northampton , GB on  December 25, 2007

"Once again the staff were excellent and the restuarant food was very good, despite being very busy due to the christmas season." (97447315)

On arrival I checked in and was given an upgrade from the single room I had booked to a suite (rm111). This was a very pleasant suprise and the room was very spacious.

  • 9/10 Duncan (Solo business traveller)

Good service, from good satff in a nice clean hotel at a reasonable price.

  • 9/10 Duncan (Solo business traveller)

"I recently stayed else where as the Bruntsfield was unavailable (I will have to stop giving good reviews)and once again the Bruntsfield out shone its competition. Welldone" (97737396)

Whilst I had booked as a single on arival I was allocated a very spacious, clean and nicely decorated double room. Breakfast has always been very good, this stay I had an evening meal in the resturant and must say that this too was very nice, and resonably priced.

  • 7/10 Barbara (Family with older children)

from Long itchington , GB on  October 30, 2007

"The hotel is in a good location within walking distance of shops and attractions. The rooms and public areas are well furnished, although the single room for our daughter was very small indeed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was good and the breakfasts very good. It was a good place to stay for a long weekend" (97938515)

Pleasant well-sitauted hotel with a good restaurant

Our teenage daughter's room (a single) was very small and a very long way from our room. The room was adequate but not at all special and the shower didn't work very well.

  • 9/10 Duncan (Solo business traveller)

from Northampton , GB on  October 23, 2007

"I have stayed at the Bruntsfield on several occassions previously and once again the staff were excellent. I had booked to stay for four nights, however due to changes in my work schedule I needed to leave Edinburgh after two nights. This was dealt with with zero fuss." (97433118)

I was allocated a good size, relativeley modern spacious room.

  • 9/10 Duncan (Solo business traveller)

from Northampton , GB on  October 16, 2007

"A well located, nice clean hotel with efficient and friendly staff. I've booked another four nights next week." (97308316)

I was allocated a room 118 that was newly refurbished and very clean.

Room 118 is a bit small and short of storage, no useable draw space at all - small issue.

  • 8/10 Duncan (Solo business traveller)

from Northampton , GB on  October 4, 2007

"It was a brief overnight stay, late arriving and early leaving. My late arrival was dealt with quickly and efficiently as was my early departure. I was even permitted an early breakfast slot to get me on my way on time. Much Appreciated." (97635456)

On this visitI was allocated a ground floor room, this appeared to be more modern than the rooms I had stayed in previously on the upper floors.

A wider range of television channels would be good - although this is not a show stopper for me.

  • 8/10 Anonymous (Group of adult friends)

    on  October 2, 2007

"As noted above. Room was comfortable, although there was some early morning noise from adjacent plumbing systems and doors banging. There was a large group of foreign nationals checking in at the same time, but they were being dealt with very efficiently to minimise inconvenience to other guests." (97654184)

Convenient for the city centre with parking provided. Easy access by car from the south. Spacious room with good ensuite bathroom. Resturant and bar popular and busy. Service was quick and efficient.

Tea / coffee facilities not provided in the room, but everything else was as expected from the website.

"All ok otherwise and good breakfast. getting out of the car park in fron tof the hotel was a nightmare as there were service vans all parked in front of my car and noone in sight to move them." (99124991)

    Staff very pleasant and helpful.

The room was a bit shabby which was probably due the fact that the big radiater, which dominated the room was broken and hanging lob sided on the floor

  • 7/10 Dg (Solo business traveller)

"Facilities nice and clean. Internet very poor. Breakfast was ok but nothing special." (99548738)

    Comfortable and clean

Internet access was very poor - it was basically unusable due to how slow it was. This was disappointing as I needed to check emails.

Clean, great proximity to city centre, friendly staff. Nice retaurant on site.

The double bed was made up of two beds joined together. I found it uncomfortable.

  • 7/10 Alan (Mature couple)

    from Carlisle , United Kingdom;GB on  February 14, 2007

Friendly staff & a great breakfast. Bathroom looked as if it had been recently renovated - very clean.

Bedroom was comfortable although the decoration was a bit grubby. Fairly warm (which was good for February) but this could potentially pose a problem in the summer!

  • 10/10 Caroline (Young couple)

"I knew the hotel from previous visits, therefore I requested a particular room. In future it would be helpful to quote the square meterage of rooms, rather than saying spacious. It is very personal." (99621863)

The size and comfort of the room. Spacious room.

Very small tv screen and Internet did not work.

  • 7/10 Anonymous (Young couple)

Some staff not entirely friendly, a tad overpriced.

  • 7/10 Eleanor (Mature couple)

We were very disappointed at the full scottish breakfast served to us on the first morning of our stay and did not attend breakfast the second morning due to the state of the food.

"I would like to have know more about the accommadations in the room. What does two beds mean? How much stair climbing is involved, etc." (99198731)

Not much, Some of the staff were very helpful.

The elevator was not working. My 85 yr old mom had to climb 4-5 flights of stairs everyday. Some of the staff was rude.I had requested 2 beds and we got a King size with two twins pused together. I had to move the furniture to get what I needed.

  • 9/10 Douglas (Solo leisure traveller)

Clean, spacious and quiet room (No. 228)

Only slight grumble was no mini bar/fridge in room and no bbc radio 2 on TV.

  • 8/10 Anonymous (Mature couple)

Good standard of accommodation, warm welcome, good breakfast, ideal for local amenities and within walking distance of town centre

Non smoking policy in Scotland means that smokers sit outside the hotel bar this can lead to high noise level at night experienced by rooms at front of hotel

THE HOTEL IS WELL PLACED GEOGRAPHICALLY AND THE SERVICE WAS GOOD

THE EN SUITE BATHROOM WAS SMALL, NOISY, DINGY AND OLD

    from Rotherham , United Kingdom;GB on  August 1, 2006

"The hotel was lovely and matched description shown online. hotel staff very helpful and checking in and out was very easy. location wise very good. we walked to Princes Street in about 15-20 mins and i am not very fit. Also amenities close by were very good. Walked down the hill and had a drink at most pubs on this stretch, all very friendly. also went to chinese resturant just below the hotel (on same side of road)food was excellant and reasonably priced. Kings bar very nice, as temp very warm during our visit was able to sit outside. Would recommend having room service for breakfast. This came at time we asked for it and tasted as good as previous breakfasts we had in the resturant. Would and have recommeded this hotel, stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed the stay." (3304996344)

it matched the description shown online, spot on

Room was very warm, a fan was already in the room which did help.

"This was a very affordable hotel. Lovely outlook over the park. A little out of the City but this actually made it quiet. Long corridors run from the main building and the one lift is a bit rickety. The Bathroom needs attention, but was clean and towels where lovely and new." (3305079540)

Excellent value for money. Evening meal in bar more than enjoyable. Enough attention to make me feel comfortable as a lone female.

Wall paper in bathroom peeling and bath very stained. banging doors over and over again about 7.30 am.

The views were lovely - parkland opposite. Not too noisy. Pleasant bar with extensive range of food, if required. Staff very friendly. Clean and tidy. Highly recommend and will return again." (3304550545)

Fine location, not too far to walk to Princess Street and other attractions. Good room, excellent food, friendly staff, very helpful.
