Central hotel - ideal for week end away. The room was spacious and clean. Would recommend as good value for money.

The kettle was leaking. The soap dispenser in shower was empty.

    Excellent hotel.

Bit dissapointed that although I had read that 3 days notice were needed to cancel the fact that 2 people had to drop out on the day before the stay due to compassionate reasons that we still had to pay for that room in full

restaurant shutting at 930pm. Paper didn't get delivered, continental breakfast felt a ripoff. asked for hot water for a cup of tea and was looked at like I was asking for the stars.

very comfortable bed and very good shower, both key points to get right, and they were.

although the hotel advertised a no smoking policy throughout the hotel, there were strong smells of smoke around in various parts of the hotel and could be smelt in my room, which was quite unpleasant.

"My brother and I were visiting Leeds to attend a gig at the Variety theatre. After surfing the net for suitable hotels, the Golden Lion was one of only two which matched our criteria - twin bed room, proximity to centre, bar, reasonable price. The hotel also offered inclusive overnight parking in a nearby multi-storey. Check-in was straightforward and we paid in advance in order to allow a quick getaway the following morning. Room was brilliant - twice the size of a hotel room we experienced in London last year. Couldn't work out how, but the supplied voucher ensured our exit from the car park. Highly recommended." (97346940)

Size, quality and facilities of room. Proximity to city centre. Convenience of inclusive parking. Value for money.

I raised with hotel reception desk -shower water in bathroom was cold to luke warm, possibly on Saturday due to number of guests ? However basin hot water tap was hot all the time....possibly shower temperature gage droppped ? Usually hotel showers are TOO HOT, this room shower was too cool & never warmed up !!

"The room was clean and tidy and the amenities were in good working order. The foyer and lift were in good clean condition and I felt secure in my hotel room. I thought the breakfast was a little overpriced at £8.95 for continental. I booked online using a company credit card and when I checked in I was told that this was only to reserve the room. Thus I had to use my personal card. I now have to claim back for this, which is inconvenient. Customers should have the option to pay on line, or be clear that you will need to bring the card that you reserve with." (97308323)

    Distance to city centre

Room was warm, and noise could be heard from across the street.

"The staff at the Golden Lion Hotel were very friendly and fair. The rooms were great for the money we paid and the central location was ideal for anybody who would like to go shopping or have a few drinks out on the town. Me and my friends had such a good time in Leeds we are already talking about going back in a couple of weeks and have already decided we will again be staying at the Golden Lion." (97458892)

The rooms were excellent. The presentation when we first entered our rooms was fantstic and they were extremely clean and comfortable.

There wasnt anything i disliked about the hotel but the check-in process was a bit lengthy but i suppose this was due to us being in a large group. I would definately visit the Golden Lion Hotel when i next visit Leeds.

I will certainly recommend your hotel and in future stay with you rather than at the Queens. The bathrobes and bath products provided was outstanding - room service was first class and finally the bar prices were very reasonable." (97503606)

"The hotel was booked on the basis of its location and price, and for these purposes it was fine. However, I would not use the hotel again unless I was reassured that the ridiculously high level of heating had been resolved. This was enough to make several of us feel very ill. Another low point for the hotel was the price of the breakfast at almost £11. Considering that the Hogshead do the same breakfast for £2.75 less than 100 metres away, the price seems overblown. Nonetheless, the staff were pleasant, the price of the rooms was reasonable and the location was excellent. Also, the staff were very accommodating of my hen party and helped make the weekend fun for us." (97073207)

The rooms were clean, the staff were pleasant and the hotel was excellently located for the city centre

The hotel, and in particular the second floor where most of my guests were located, was excessively hot to the point of making us feel ill. We were unable to open or close the windows (and in one case the window was nailed shut). The ceiling fans were very loud and seemed unstable. Also, building work began outside at 8am on Sunday morning and was excessively loud for those with open windows (that could not be shut).
