"Checking in ok. Rooms good but no shaver socket, no chair, no desk, no mirror where the hairdryer should be. why do I need a sideboard in a room? I don't carry around enough stuff to fill the drawers let alone all the cupboards. Breakfast See above. Value for money at the time was ok but at peak rate the price doubles. I would be very unsatisfied if I paid any more than I did. It require an extr 10% of effort to gain a massive improvement. I would stay there again but only at the price I paid." (97351125)

Comfy bed, Freeview TV with decent channel selection

Breakfast was awful, one of the worst I experienced in a long time. It was all steamed to death in the chafing trays. The white pudding had given up and turned into a blob of what looked like concrete.

"We would like to have been aware that there was a night club on the premises. Having a room directly above the night club meant we had noise until about 1.45am. Having just travelled back from holiday this was not the ideal room to catch up on our sleep. The next morning breakfast was to be served from 8-10am. When we arrived at 8.15am the staff had not turned up for work and we eventually got our breakfast at 9am." (97995337)

"We chose the hotel for its midway point between the airport and the city centre, using it only for accommodation (so can't comment on evening meal or bar facilities - although the bar seemed well-frequented and popular). Location was good, but bear in mind it is right on a main road so you can get some traffic noise (we didn't mind) Easy to find and car park just behind the hotel. Rooms smart at first sight, but let down by details such as cracked tiles in bathroom, faded filler round the bath, and loos too close to the wall. Beds were too hard for us, although I know this tends to be a personal thing. No lift in the hotel, so hauling bags upstairs a bit of struggle. We have a disabled daughter who can just about climb stairs, but I should perhaps have checked more thoroughly before booking. Have said I would recommend the hotel, but not for those who find climbing difficult. Staff really helpful, both in suggesting a scenic route to St Andrews and finding us a restaurant in town" (97943012)

    Location, helpfullness of staff

Lack of lift, hard beds, decor let down by details

"We enjoyed our stay, we had 2 nights in the hotel. It was easy to get into Edinburgh center by bus, and also by 24hr shuttle bus 2 and from the airport. The staff were helpfull, and the room was clean. I guess the only negative was no lift, we struggled up to 2nd floor with suitcase,so wouldnt be very good for the less able. Also the street is quite busy day and night so wouldnt be that good for a light sleeper." (97083378)

The hotel and staff were a welcome stopover on our 1st visit to Scotland

Iguess being on the second floor, having to struggle up the stairs with a suitcase.

"Hmmm. This one is difficult to place. It's sort of boutique but without the sophistication. Sort of adequate. The bar and restaurant are OK but lack atmosphere. The whole place is somewhat clinical. The bedroom was freezing, and I don't like a heated bedroom. This was with the small electric panel heater on all night, and it was'nt even cold, for Sctland that is. However the bed was comfortable enough and I suppose for a hotel not far from the centre of Edinburgh the price was reasonable." (97117762)

Convenience for where I was working in Murrayfield

    The room was freezing!

"Overall very good please sort out the breakfast..." (97036474)

The staff at the Agenda were excellent Especially Nikki on reception, rooms were of a good standard and very clean, bar area was very good.

Breakfast somewhat let down the hotel a very poor breakfast left to steam in trays was not what was advertised in the hotel guide, no haggis or black pudding, the choice of eggs was basically scrambled, sort this out and the hotel would be excellent...

Room was nice size and well furnished. Staff was very courteous

No lift, hauling two large suitcases up stairs was difficult. We were informed that the airport shuttle bus stopped "right across the street". It was across the street, up about 5 blocks. Again, hauling two large suitcases to the bus was very difficult.

from Bracknell , GB  on  October 31, 2007

"Although the location was good for getting into the city and it has a car park this hotel has little else going for it. A disco going on until 1am below our room meant we had to move to another room to be able to sleep. Although we should have been told about this it doesn't detract from the inability to get a nights sleep. The restaurant and bar attached to the hotel were expensive but a good couple of cheaper options were available nearby. Availibility of reception staff was poor having to ask at the bar for assistance is not ideal." (97534181)

Overall the room was good, very spacious and had all the normal essentials and was clean.

Quite frankly if this accommodation were in England we would call it a Travelodge, it was stark and uninviting. The water was nearly hot, breakfast menu items were not actually available and the room was above a function suite that had a disco on until the early hours! The rooftop view was also uninviting.

"The hotel is convenient for the airport and Edinburgh as well - but is difficult to find at night as the sign is small. It is not a city centre hotel though. The bar area is pleasant if a little dated. The breakfasts are hit and miss on both the quality of food and service. Sometimes good sometimes not so good. The room I stayed in was in the attic and was large but too cold. The bathroom needed repairs incluing the fan which meant that the bathroom steamed up very quickly so much so that you couldnt see anything at all after a shower. The bed was not particularly comfortable but was OK." (99956015)

Breakfast on first morning was very good. Room was large.

The room was far too cold and the fan in the bathroom did not work. The breakfast staff on the second and third morning talked to each other about what they did the night before etc rather than say good morning to me. However the staff on the first morning were very good and the breakfast was much better as well.

(99611425)

the hotel provides clean rooms and the breakfast was also good. the overall ambience is very impressive. I wanted to booka taxi which was taken care of by the people there and that was also a big help.

I was carrying a heavy case and did not have anyone to help me with it as my room was on the first floor.

I liked the style, presentation and design of the room, the staff were very friendly and helpful and gave useful advice about where to go for dinner and entertainment.

The room was extremely cold and when we requested a heater, although it was brought quickly, it didn't work, we had to run a bath to keep warm! Also the door was very tricky to lock and on occasion didn't lock at all, and I didn't feel safe leaving my valuables in the room. Also I felt that the breakfast service was very slow which would have been a problem if we had been in a hurry to go anywhere.

"The hotel was of a good standard with modern facilities and decoration. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly and the room was spacious, clean and warm. It was also a quiet room considering the position of the hotel next to the A8. The hotel also has free parking which is important and good bus links into the city centre (about 20mins). Since I got a good deal of the internet, I would recommend staying at this hotel next time I am in Edinburgh." (99392978)

Chose this hotel due to its closeness to the city centre and good carparking facilities. The room was fine, and contrary to previous reports was plenty warm enough, due to the extra heater, and this was in January.

The dvd part of the TV/DVD combo didn't work, but was not planning on watching a DVD anyway.

Modern and clean. Very nice bar/restaurant area. Staff welcoming especially on reception. Lovely cooked breakfast

"The Hotel is a lot further from the centre of Edinburgh than expected. It was a brisk 50 minute walk to Princess Street, 20 minutes on the bus, which were excellent and frequent. Car parking at the hotel was excellent , it is not worth taking the car into Edinburgh The hotel is very close to the Zoo" (99190192)

The bar and restaurant were excellent with a really good atmosphere and well laid out large leather sofa's to relax in. I would certainly not hesitate to stay again if I was ever in Edinburgh again." (99869504)

Hotel was very clean, service was very good, meals superb

Our shower head was broken and flooded the bathroom floor when I first switched it on. It was a real game to try and get it to stay still while we grabbed a shower. The tea and coffee at breakfast were a little stewed and would be better served fresh to the table.
