Our room was comfortably sized, had every convenience and was very modern.

    Close to the airport

"The room rate was on the high side given the lack of facilities at the hotel. The bar area smelt of cooking. The breakfast was merely adequate and service poor. We requested an extra serving of toast with our cooked meal. It did not arrive." (99759895)

The room was tastefully decorated and comfortable

Noise from an adjoining motor cycle track

Really nice and charming hotel. I wish I could have stayed longer

Some of the decor was too modern for the type building it is.

The place was beautiful and tastefully done. Great bathroom

The bed was not very comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant and my husband's steak was to tough to eat. He mentioned it to the server and he did nothing. That was rather surprising.

  • 10/10 Geoff ( Mature couple)

    from Chesham , United Kingdom;GB  on  December 6, 2005

"Beautiful out of town location, but some aircraft noise from nearby airport, although this did'nt really bother us. We really enjoyed our stay and having spent some time in and around Edinburgh we felt that we had chosen well. The room was excellent, with unusually well catered tea and coffee facility, complimentary bottles of water in the fridge each day and a massive plasma screen TV. It had a real family run feel to the place with lots of thoughtful touches, the staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was very good in both the restaurant and brasserie. We will definetly look out for this hotel group when staying in other parts of the UK." (2912758)

Room was excellent, staff were very helpful and friendly

You currently have to walk through a smoking area to get to the restraunt.

    from Falkirk , United Kingdom;GB  on  November 8, 2005

"I felt it would have been nice to have special deals with breakfast included in the price and not individually priced as per room and per head for breakfast.Alchol drinks and soft drinks from the bar were a bit costly." (2931192)

where the hotel is situated, and how nicely the room decor was, and the plasma tv was good.

  • 7/10 Trond ( Same sex couple)

    from Selkirk , United Kingdom;GB  on  November 6, 2005

"Food very nice and very nice ambiance. Like the style of the rooms and the large flat screen tv's are great." (2891641)

Nice rooms and nice country style setting - but still central for edinburgh

Cleanlyness of rooms - very dusty on most surfaces- as hotelier my self I would have had a serious word with housekeeper.

"The service and rooms of the hotel were of an excellent standard, I will without doubt being using the Norton again on my next trip to Scotland." (2904007)

The rooms were well decorated and equipped.

Nothing that I could suggest at this time.

"The room was very nice and comfortable in a lovely location." (2195749)

    The room was fantastic!

I didn't like the fact that we paid £150 a night and breakfast wasn't included in the price.

"I would recommend the Norton House Hotel as somewhere nice to stay for a treat if you are flying from Edinburgh Airport as we were the next day as it is very close. Also, we were able to leave our car at the hotel during the holiday & were dropped off at the Airport on our day of departure. However, I do think that a hotel that charges that much per night per room should get some decent pillows!" (1979817)

The rooms were quite different from other hotels we'd stayed in in terms of fixtures & fittings (attention to detail was good). The staff were all friendly & helpful. We enjoyed our evening meal at the Brasserie.

The pillows were awful, very uncomfortable & i did not sleep at all well because of this.

"The whole building and gardens were absolutley magnificent, and the standard of the rooms with the Plasma screens unbeatable. The staff were all informative, and the quality of the meals we all had was very high, all in all everybody in the group were very suprised and taken back by the whole exprience of our overnight stay at the Norton House Hotel." (1470478)

The hotel was very easy to find, as it is sign posted from the main A8.

As there was a wedding party, the music was quite loud up untill 1.00am.

Only the breakfast was a disappiontment. Everything else was very good.
