"Not as satisfactory as previous times Booking on the internet was confusing. I initially booked the wrong part of the Beeches and could not see a phone no on the web site at all" (97774723)

    Convenient, friendly and clean

We specifically asked for rooms on ground floor as my husband was on crutches and were not given these. Instead we had the two rooms either side of the hot water tank upstairs which were too hot to sleep in on a very hot night.

The reception staff were excellent. Very helpfull.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel and the carpet was not hoovered dury our stay! We also noticed that the shower area had mould not only on the tiles but also on the shower hose, which if cleaned regularly would not have occurred, therefore we were disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the hotel. Having siad that the night porter was so helpful we would go back again.

Some traffic noise early evening and morning, but quiet overnight

    friendly staff

    1. No yowles, asked for some, returned from evening out, still no towles, asked night staff, given lots of very very small hand towles, two of which were dirty. 2. Curtain half hanging off (room overlooked main road) luckylie i had a tall boy who could re attach it. 3. Dirty tissues on floor my bed. 4. room not serviced (had to ask for a 4th time for some towles.)

"Online booking process perhaps flawed, lovely hotel/staff otherwise." (107142041)

Lovely room, very helpful staff - especially a chap called Simon

My booking was not made. Reserved online, the booking was dropped somewhere in the email chain. However, the hotel were more than accomodating (literally, I suppose...!) and gave me room worth over double the one booked at the same price.

"Good basic hotel that offers exceptional value for money. I do mean exceptional, I can't think of another hotel where I've stayed that has been this good at such a low price." (107251066)

Good location, easy 5 minute walk to edge of the inner city, pleasant 10 minute walk to the centre. Clear road directions to the hotel, better than those from a well known motoring organisation. Clean. Friendly and efficient staff.

Couldn't check-in until 1600, as I was able to park at the hotel this did not cause me any real inconvenience. The TV and kettle were not working in the when I arrived, these were quickly fixed. No policy not to wash towels everyday. (Then again, I've yet to stay in a hotel that actually complies with its stated policy not to wash towels if a customer requests.)

"Good, clean hotel but with a little extra effort it could be excellent" (108022371)

We had three rooms in total and each one of them was spotlessly clean, as were the public rooms.

The light above the mirror in room 29 did not work, the windows did not open and the curtains int he bedroom did not fit thus allowing light to penetrate into the room.

    "Very good, " (97379891)

Manner - helpfulness, courtesy, attentiveness - of staff; Room comfort, amenities.

Not a bad point - I would have liked a wastepaper basket in the room, and also somewhere to write on.

"We (2 adults) chose this hotel because it was the cheapest we could find near to the city centre, and we just wanted somewhere to put our heads down after a night out. What we got was a suite, with a double bed and 4(!) bunk beds, so plenty of space. The hotel was very clean and well kept, and the staff were friendly. I can't comment on breakfast as we didn't have it. The only tiny fault we could find was that the only mirror in our room was a small face mirror in the bathroom, and an additional full length mirror would have been useful (you know what us girlies are like...). Overall, an excellent hotel, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again :o)" (97543767)

Very clean and comfortable, very good sized room, friendly staff

    lack of full length mirror

  • 5/10 Anonymous ( Family with young children)

"Price of room was fair - decent size and the hotel accommodated our pre booking requests - room away from main road, cot in room etc. The cost of the breakfast seemed expensive for what was offered. Location and parking was a bonus. Staff were helpful, knowledgeable of the area and friendly. Although clean, the rooms look tired and a paint or refurbishment would be timely." (97196351)

Location was good. Free parking. Friendly and helpful staff.

Expensive breakfast, lack of facilities, rooms need a refurbishment.

"We only stayed overnight but found the accommodation perfectly adequate and fantastic value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were clean. The bedding was fresh and crisp. What more could you ask for at such a bargain price?" (97027687)

Spacious room with large bathroom area. Within walking distance of the city centre. Free parking. Being able to leave the car in the car park after check out.

It was very warm in the room and the ceiling fan was very noisy, so the choices were either be kept awake by the heat or the noise.

It was clean and convenient. The breakfast was very good

No central heating. No wardrobe! Only one cup in a twin-bedded room. Noisy - a generator? in an adjacent room hummed loudly all night.

"The staff at this hotel are excellent, very informative and friendly. Breakfast was wonderful. Despite the lady being on her own (and clearly under pressure) the food was beautifully presented, freshly cooked and hot. This was a good value for money hotel in an excellent location but a larger bed would have ensured a good night's sleep." (97054787)

It was very clean and adequate for our requirements.

Did not get a king size bed despite requesting this (as we are both 6ft tall) and bathroom was cold - the radiator did not work.

(97906813)

Friendly staff, clean room, good breakfast

noise from pub over the road made it difficult to get to sleep room very plain and hardly what I would call 4 star hotel

  • 8/10 Marian ( Group of adult friends)

from Leicester , GB  on  February 8, 2008

"I was going to a music venue on Sunday night and this hotel offers excellent value accommodation for a Sunday night stay. I booked 2 single rooms for me and a friend and was allocated one single room together with a double room (both en-suite). The staff were friendly and professional. The rooms were spotless with quality linen/towels. A good quality breakfast was served in the conservatory. All in all a great stay." (97208079)

The accommodation was easy to find and was a great location for a visit to Norwich City centre. I was pleased to see that the owner had kept the original features of the building. I was able to leave my car in the hotel car park after check-out so that I could explore Norwich without parking costs.

The heating appeared to be left on all night and the constant creaking and popping of the pipes meant a restless night ( I am a light sleeper - particularly when staying in an unfamiliar place...!) My friend in a room on the same floor was not affected by this at all.
