    The beds were clean

The toilet was not clean, my wife asked for cleaning product so we could do it ourselves. There was hair on the sink and a used glass, I believe the bathroom had been neglected during the last cleaning prior to our arrival. The buzzer to allow people in at night was right next to our room and all guests had to stomp up the stairs next to us. There were no extra pillows in the room.

"reasonable price, corresponding to my 2-star hotel expactations, good location " (107177497)

willingness and politeness of the staff towards guests to help - I wanted to exchange rooms, in general good service, good position/location of the hotel - close to underground and the very centre, availability of the kettle in rooms so that you can have a cup of tea and coffee whenever you want, I could leave my bag after my check-out in the hotel as I was leaving at night, however,

when I came back to it pick up, I had to wait for 20 minutes (the receptionist left), quite small bathroom,

"For the cost of the room i was unpleasantly surprised at its amenities" (107230025)

    good location; breakfast was okay.

the room was not very clean, tiny and seemed to absorb all noises above. The first room offered had no security- the window wouldn't shut and being a ground floor room this was of real concern; I requested a different room and found myself in a much smaller room at the same price.

This is probably the most basic hotel in which I have ever stayed. The rooms downstairs were in a basement and we all ended in the family room for safety reasons.

"The hotel offers welcoming staff, low end price scale (but not the cheapest) and a good location with clean rooms. Offset by the mountaineering climb and the box size room when you get there." (97822955)

The location was convenient to the Sadlers Wells Theatre.

Lots of narrow stairs, funny little rooms chopped out of the buildings original large rooms. Aircraft style toilet/shower compartment looked to have been lifted from a Boeing breakers yard. Noisy plumbing and hot rooms (July stay).

The orange at breakfast. And the fact we only stayed one night!!!

The whole thing!!!! The room was filthy and poor equiped. The staffs' grasp of english was non-existent. There is far to many to list - we checked out at 8am! THE ROOMS ARE NOT SECURE - WE WERE WOKEN UP LATE AT NIGHT WITH SOMEONE STANDING IN OUR DOOR WAY WHICH WAS OPENED WITH THEIR KEY

room smelt of stale smoke bathroom smelt stale sink and floor were not clean. very noisy throughout night with other guests coming and going breakfast room overcrowded and noisy - we were ignored by staff, were not directed where to get breakfast

  • 5/10 Anonymous ( Family with older children)

Easy booking, easy check-in, nice beds, excellent location.

Extraordinarily tiny and cramped bathroom, street noise. The advertised "free access to the Internet" delivers MUCH less than expected. No wireless in rooms, wireless in the breakfast room never worked. Only a terminal in the breakfast room with a weird, very limited browser with no possibility of handling attachments. Available only during limited hours - from after 9 am - because "it interferes with breakfast". Pretty much useless for a business traveler.

"Very disappointed by the hotel's location, general decor, furnishings and facilities." (97302411)

The hotel's closest underground station (Russell Square) is on the line for Heathrow Airport. Tea/coffee making facilities were provided. Very nice continental breakfast and staff.

Very cramped room with cheap and nasty furnishings. All-plastic ensuite bathroom 'module' very tacked on/jammed into a corner, cheap and nasty. Pillows all way too thick and unuseable. We had to use our jumpers/coats instead.

"I have stayed in this hotel previously and would stay there again. Ideally situated for the venue I was attending. Nice, quiet hotel. Good price and courteous staff. Nice breakfast with tea & coffee making facilities." (97914138)

The hotel was reasonably priced in just the right area as I was going to London ULU to see a band. The staff were helpful and courteous. Good to have a kettle in the room to have a hot drink after a long journey. Room quiet and comfortable. I had a double bed at single rate. Nice breakfast in the morning.

"I would not stay there again, the room was ok, it was clean and tidy when I got there but the staff made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, I will book into a holiday in or travellodge next time." (97827321)

The room was clean, the onsuite was a bit cramped but it was adequate for my needs, it would have been better if they did not fit in the extra single bed into the room as it is not really big enough to be a family room.

The staff were rude, when I checked in I did not get so much as a Welcome. I felt so unwelcome at breakfast that I just had toast with jam on and left in about 10 minutes. They put a pot of hot water on your table and give you a jar of coffee, I found that very strange. As I checked out and handed over my key the person at reception said That's it!, a thank you for staying here or hope you enjoyed your stay would have been nice.

    "Reasonably comfortable but overpriced." (97156050)

Bedding was clean. Room was clean.

Went back to reception on arrival to find out whose belongings had been left in my room. They were removed but I was uneasy as to the security of my room. Bathroom was extremely cramped. Had to squeeze past the sink to the toilet. Window offered no soundproofing from the busy street. There was no room between corridor door and room door. TV was snowy on all channels. Didn't dare try the breakfast as the kitchen staff were busy having a fag at the front door when I made my way from my room in an adjacent building to check out.

"Although I booked for the non-smoking Guildford House Hotel when I checked in I was put in the Grenville hotel next door (they actually share a reception). Room & hotel smelt of smoke, very hard bed, impossibly small bathroom (to get on the toilet you had to contort yourself round the sink). The staff were friendly though. Basically, spend the extra £20 to go to a decent hotel, especially if your with kids - I wish I had." (97467794)

    The location was very convenient.

The beds were horrible--I could not sleep on the bed because the springs were coming out of the bed and the showers did not have hot water, so it was cold showers the entire time.

Room very cold. 5. Beds uncomfortable and not enough bedding - Blanket & Sheet! 6. No fresh milk with T/coffee facilities. 7. Ensuite was the size of a caravan bathroom 8. Breakfast room cutlery, not very clean. 9. Seriously needs a professional facelift. 10. The staff were not that welcoming and did look that they did not enjoy being there themselves. Secondly the bathroom was a joke. We dind´t even try to take a shower since half the cabinet shower was occupied by the toilet. For your information we did not pay much more for a better 1. floor room with normal sized bathroom and full English breakfast at the President Hotel nearby." (97082299)

When I asked for tea with my dry unpalatable breakfast, the lady was positively rude and couldn't see why I couldn't help myself to some from the pot belonging to the couple sitting next to us. It is true that due to the lack of space we were forced to sit very closely with the other diners but helping myself to their breakfast seemed to be going a step too far." (97911922)

"I expected a reasonable standard of service and cleanliness. If I had known there was only cornflakes or kelloggs multipacks for cereal (ie. no bran flakes or muesli), tesco budget basic yogurts (instead of reasonable quality yogurts), dirty ensuite facilities, dirty bedspread and no change or cleaning of mug and glass,I would not have booked this hotel. It was good that it was non smoking, but the first night my room smelt of curry and the second morning i was woken with the smell of exhaust fumes from the very noisy, busy road outside. The staff were not helpful or friendly. Butter, jam, marmalade and cereal boxes were constantly being topped up. I wondered how long the packs at the bottom of the pile had been there! I had to have the window open because of the heat and stuffiness but there was a lot of road noise and people noise. I am going to be staying in London for several nights each month for the rest of the year, but will not be staying at this hotel again. They should employ a cleaner." (99450394)

The bed was comfortable and the shower worked well, plenty of hot water. Nice bananas at breakfast

toilet, basin and ensuite area not clean. Plastic shower curtain dirty. Bedspread dirty. Bed not made up between nights, mug and glass not changed or washed. Very noisy, from road and rest of house.
