"In the light of the above comments, we would appreciate a reply-we were visiting the area to see family and this quite spoilt the occasion for us. We chose your hotel --in preference to cheaper, more impersonal places--but what a disappointment!!" (97910161)

There were very few--the "manager" was pleasant enough.

The room was dark and dingy, road noise excessive. The shower was difficult to control, and there was what appeared to be Ant powder in the corner of the bathroom. The more you looked, the more the room appeared in need of paint and overall "TLC."We had ordered an English breakfast for 9a.m. on our 1st morning. We arrived in the dining room at one minute past nine. There was noone there to greet us, so we helped ourselves to cereals--at which point the manager appeared with 2 plated up breakfasts. These were cold and tasteless--in fact the egg resembled nothing we had ever seen before--POWDERED!!!!!---We complained and the food was re-heated, but remained the worst food I have ever tasted! I have run a guest house myself and am aware of what it entails..this manager had no idea of presenting food, or indeed of the importance of greeting guests in the morning and requesting their preferences. We felt so strongly about the quality of the food that we cancelled breakfast-already paid for-for the following morning!

"Thoroughly enjoyable, given the purpose of my visit (overnight airport connection). I have stayed there before and would not hesitate to do so again. I have already recommended the Pymgate Lodge to others." (97425757)

Thoughtful, impeccable and friendly service, clean comfortable room, pleasant surroundings.

Not BAD points, but a couple of suggestions: offer more vegetarian meal options (e.g., using tofu as protein), plus brown/wholemeal bread and bran cereal options at breakfast.

"A great, economical airport stopover, with old-fashioned courtesy and consideration. Would go back without hesitation." (97257702)

    Friendly, personal, polite service.

Maybe offer whole wheat/brown bread at breakfast, and generally more vegetarian options.

"A pleasant welcome, but something slightly odd about the place itself which produced a rather unwelcoming feel. The guest areas rather stuffy. Be aware that it is not called the airport hotel for nothing - it's almost under the flightpath, so there's a fair bit of aircraft noise." (97330006)

    It was clean.

My room was in the attic with a Velux window which couldnt be opened, so with warm, humid weather there was no ventilation and the room was hot. Not pleasant.

The room was spacious. We were given a choice whether or not to book breakfast; this was nice since we had to leave for the airport before breakfast was available and we therefore didn't have to pay for something that we didn't use.

"Overall I was very pleased with my experience at the Pymgate Hotel. The cost of the room was very reasonable and the overall atmosphere of the hotel [the decor and the staff] were very impressive. I did not like having a window in the ceiling that did not have a cover on it as the moonlight and then daylight disrupted my sleep. The shower was a bit dirty. As I noted above, the hotel only served instant coffee [which tastes terrible and I think could be an easy thing to change]. I would recommend this hotel to friends as it was also very close to the Manchester Airport." (97274473)

It was clean, well furnished, cozy.

The bathroom shower was a bit dirty. The window [in ceiling] let in too much light. They used instant coffee. Awful.

It was clean, tidy, full tea/coffee facilities (which is well needed after a hard days travelling), had exactly what an overnight stay needed.

Nothing at all, my one small dislike was that it could have been slightly warmer but it was on the cusp of a very very unexpected cold spell which no-one would have seen coming, so I just got under the very warm duvet on the very large bed :-)

The kettle was partially full of old water and there were black and yellow spots in it. The television set was covered by the dust. The sink in the toilet was very unclean. The soap was already opened (but not used). The person in the reception has not been nice. For example (and I could add more), she asked me whether I wanted a taxi and when I answered that I wanted to think about it she watched me like to say: don't you have the money for a taxi? BTW: she never smiled." (99929667)
