"We all had a fantastic weekend, Hotel Lovely, Staff fantastic, Breakfast brilliant, nothing was too much trouble." (107263798)

excellent position for walking into york, 10 Min's from York Minster. Staff were very helpful and pleasant, hotel room just as advertised, lots of choice for restaurants and pubs within walking distance.

The bedroom was beautiful but the bathroom could do with updating or re-modernising as it didn't quite fit with the room.

"overall good but a bit pricey even with online discount" (107295799)

location and parking were good, food and staff good

room a bit dated and it felt you were rushed in the restaurant in the morning

"Pleasant hotel, enjoyed my stay" (107298420)

Room was nicely kitted out, but you would expect that for the price paid. Breakfast was superb, staff very friendly and polite

Non smoking in the outdoor garden area. Fair enoguh, hotel policy I guess, but to put signs up saying it is illegal to smoke in that area are wrong, as it wouldn't be !!! Hotel policy and law are not the same thing.

"Staff friendly and helpful. Bedroom clean and comfortable, perhaps decorated more for the older generation. Common areas a bit worn. Fire door from dining room to corridor jarred open with heavy weight rather than electromagnet or similar." (97048046)

Good size room, though bathroom a bit of a squeeze.

    Walls a bit thin.

Accomodation was in a good location staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was brought to the table and was excellent

The room was very small no bath and needed decorating.Cover to go over bed had not been washed and was grubby. There were no curtains although there was a curtain pole at the windows only blinds which made it very light in the mornings.

"I wish we had known about the hotel being on the market for sale. With no evening dinner being served, we could then have made the choice to cancel and book another hotel, or go with the flow. As it was we decided to dine out but we had no choice once we had arrived. Spoiled a pleasent stay really. Very handy for the city, just a pleasant short walk. Ideal situation. Spot on night security for the car park, one felt very safe there." (97649564)

Clean and very friendly. Very good room service too.

No evening dinner available and the room was damp smelling from condensation although we did not make an official complaint about it, only to the waitress.

"We visited this hotel last year, enjoyed it and decided to take our friends away last weekend. We were welcomed on friday evening and invited to use the restaurant. The food was superb and the staff could not do enough to make our stay more enjoyable. Breakfast was excellent and they have a nice patio area where we sat with our coffee. They have a small sitting room / library with many leaflets for days out around York. The bar was also a nice place to have a quiet drink. Private off street car parking with security cameras. It's only a 10 minute walk to town. Would recommend it to anyone and will be going back again shortly." (99598831)

"We really enjoyed staying at the Heworth. The young lady on reception when we checked in greeted us with a big smile and made us feel welcome straight away. Our room was lovely - fresh and clean, roomy and had all the facilities that you need. All the staff were really nice, and always greeted you with a smile. The breakfast was delicious and we didn't need anything else to eat until evening. We stayed in the Heworth situated next door but two and it was lovely. When you walked in, it had a beautiful fresh smell, just what you need when you first arrive. We would definately stay here again when we come to York, and all in all was a really good experience. We have recommended the hotel to our friends." (3305264057)

"In general the hotel provided good accommodation for the cost and location. Although I was aware that there was no shower at the time of booking, I feel that the bayhroom facilities let the service down. Apart from that I have no other criticism to amke." (3305112009)

The hotel was well situated to get into Central York. It was quiet and the staff helpful.

The lack of a shower. This is the only major criticism of my stay especially as this would have been much more convenient than having to take a bath for an overall cleanup.

"We both enjoyed our evening meal, the food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and always happy to be of assistance. We found this to be a good base for visiting York and it was only a 10 - 15 minute walk into the centre. Alterantively there was a bus stop just outside the hotel. I would have liked to have known how busy this main road was going to have been, not being familiar with the area, although it appeared not to affect other guests in different parts of the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you" (3304959395)

The room was lovely and plush and very comfortable. The Hotel was very homely and had a lovely ambience.

Our room was directly facing onto a main road. There was no ac/fan to cool the room, but at this time we were experiencing unusually hot weather. We found it extremely difficult to sleep.

"We had originally booked a smoking room. On arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded as they were unable to oblige. The room was in another building 2 doors down street. That in its self was no problem but they did not inform us that scaffolding was in use and building works commenced at 8.30am. Although we were only slightly disturbed, not enough to make a fuss,I am left wondering what the other accommodation is like as Rm 33 was passable but only just." (3304965674)

It was reasonably convenient for short walk to town and had private secure parking.

No facility for washing hair as room had bath only with no hand spray available. Sweety wrapper lay under bed for three nights we were there.
