"food was lovely i think if staying a suit in this hotel you would be ok, but to chargwe 135 for a standard double was crazy for what you are getting, the carpet in reception should be replaced or cleaned as first impressions count." (108079548)
the food was excerlent, the suits looked very nice. toilets were clean,a nd the room was clean
the hotel carpet was disguesting, the rooms single and double standard rooms were not worth £135, i have staye din better rooms in cheaper hotels, the tiles were craked and the wardrobe was leveled out by spare bits of wood. carpets were wringled causing a trip haszzord.

"A nice hotel, but the prices are far too high for the service provided, especially with regard to meals, for example I ordered chicken as a main course, and all I got was a small amount of chicken in the middle of a hugh bowl, no potatoes, chips, veg etc. " (97460394)
Overall the hotel was very inviting
The price was far higher than expected for a 3 star. I have stayed at some high end 5 star hotels while attending conferences etc. for roughly the same price, which also included breakfast in the room cost.

great room, good price
i disliked being made to wait ages with heavy bags while the receptionist went to get my change but instead, went to answer a phone for 10 mins then stop after that to chat to a collegue while i was standing around waiting for my change and key which she had in her hand! that was the only downfall of the hotel

"Would consider staying here again. Perfect location for us/ eating arrangements were very flexible and the staff very friendly. Liked the general atomosphere and the design of the hotel. Thank you." (97086006)
The expansive lounge where one could relax all day and evening if one wished. The friendly staff and their willingness to accomodate our needs - keep our luggage after check out time; allow us to meet up after my son's interview.
The building site view from our bedroom window. The high beds and slippery bedclothes.

"I would like to have been told that the hotel held functions at the weekend and that these would involve the use of the hotel bar. One of the reasons that I picked this hotel was because it had a nice bar and seemed to have good reception areas but on both nights our use of these was limited due to the functions. Whilst I have said I would recommend the hotel this is only because it was a nice boutique hotel in Aberdeen and there aren't really any others but I would also recommend to anyone booking that they check hat events the hotel are holding" (97040089)
The individual rooms were stylish
The bar area was nice but the hotel had functions on both nights and on the second night the function took over the whole bar area so it wasn't possible to use the bar without being in the middle of a function.

The public areas are very smart indeed. The room I was staying in wasn't so recently decorated but clean and comfortable nevertheless. All the staff very friendly and helpful.
It's not such a great area. The immediate vicinity is a poorly lit area of cobbled streets and even I didn't feel comfortable walking around after dark. The choice on the evening menu was very limited although the food was of good quality. A minor niggle - the TV reception was awful. I'd expect to at least have basic digital channels but not to have BBC1 was poor and Sky Sports2 gets tiresome very quickly.

The Laundry Suite is a very unusual layout giving plenty of space and is very tastfully furnished. Realy liked the bath and shower!
The main room could do with some better lighting for shaving and for a woman to don her make up.Im being very picky here.

Decor and furnishings in the room/bathroom were excellent.
Window did not shut properly due to their age/state of repair.

"I appreciate that the hotel is undergoing a period of renovation but the room felt like it was from a bad 2 star establishment and not at all reflective of the hotel. Fortunately the rest of the hotel was superb and we had a great stay regardless. If we do make a return visit we would definately upgrade to a better room!" (99745987)

"Before booking i think what you get in the rooms should be made clearer and difference between rooms as not sure if would have Bath or not also more about the Gym Facilities offered at another location and as Breakfast wasn't provided in price it would be helpful to know if you can buy breakfast and have rough menu guides and prices also for other food and times so you know when able to order room service. When using the taxi service if the hotel books your taxi ask them to call you to tell you how long it is going to be as we waited an hour for a taxi that never arrived to bring us back to hotel and if we'd know how long we were going to wait we would of organised alternative transport." (99466457)
The Room was fantastic loved the Rolltop bath and size of rooms
No Bubble bath provided and also toiletries weren't enough for 2 people and as no drinks facilities couldn't have a drink when wanted and we ordered coffee for 9am in morning and it didn't arrive.

"The hotel is located within easy walking distance of many places of interest including Union Street (shopping) and the excellent Aberdeen Maritime Museum. My executive room had recently been refurbished and all the towels, bed linen, bathrobes, etc. had a new feel. Some people may find the room claustrophobic due to the dark brown colour scheme. The bathroom has a great bath tub including a book-reading rack for long soaks and an over-bath 'monsoon' shower. Foam bubble bath is not provided so bring your favourite. On the downside the service could be improved - the reception desk is hidden to the left on arrival and is not clearly sign-posted, in addition it is not always manned and the check-in/check-out process could be more efficient. In the room itself a few minor problems caused frustration - initially the electronic safe was locked, the pre-programmed phone buttons (e.g. for house-keeping) didn't work and dialling '0' for the operator produced no reply. The safe was also located at floor level making it difficult to use. In the bathroom the designer basin plug was tricky to operate (hint: push down once to fill the basin, push again to drain!). There was no facility in the room for tea/coffee making, neither was there a minibar in my particular room - at this price level I would have expected both. On one occassion I returned to find the door to my room not properly locked and this is obviously a security concern. Overall although the hotel is very well located I can't recommend the executive room because a mid-week rate of 165 pounds per night excluding breakfast is simply too high." (99713738)
Close to city centre, high standard of room and bathroom (refurbished executive room), comfortable bed and generally very quiet.
Overpriced. Also rather gloomy due to dark brown carpet, curtains and walls. No minibar or tea/coffee making facility, indifferent service.

Central / Bar & REstaurant OK. Service good

"There were not clear about some of the costs e.g when we asked for a glass of wine to be sent up, the tray charge of £5.00 was not made clear. The bathroom was very damp, with alot of mould on windows and around the bath. Very noisy, as the hotel is near a bar and at 2-3am in the morning you could hear the microphone and singing for about half an hour." (99876127)

We would have liked a city centre map on the website, showing the relative position of the Carmelite to the airport, exhibition centre, main shopping area etc. It would have been good to know just how good the food is at the Carmelite, no need to look for anywhere else to eat." "I was very impressed with the efficient manner in which minor TV problem was resolved. I think the rate of £105 for a room that is not upgraded is quite steep. Once the hotel is fully upgraded then this price would offer excellent value for money. The restaurant food is excellent and the level of service is of a high standard." (99473612)
This hotel is still upgrading. The upgraded parts of the hotel (Ground and 1st Floor incl Reception/Dining/Bar and seated areas, are fantastic. The Restaurant is superb, and would recommend to all. Staff are very pleasant and helpful.
My room was on the 3rd Floor and had not yet been upgraded. It was quite small but adequate and clean. The TV did not work but after a phone call to reception, the manager promptly arrived at my room and offered to replace it while I was at dinner. Once replaced, he came into the restaurant and confirmed that I now had a functioning TV. solved.

"Staff were very helpful and courteous. Food was good, service prompt which justifies the restaurant prices. Comments on snags with the recently refurbished room were welcomed. Staff provided a very positive image of the hotel and were able to explain the improvement plan and were aware of what was being done and could explain limited television services even though good flat screen TVs were fitted. It helps the customer and serves the hotel well." (3305004264)
I was upgraded to the newly refurbished floor as the lock on the door on my original room was broken. The refurbished room showed a significant improvement to the accommodation is being made. Fittings and linen in the refurbished rooms are excellent.
Unrefurbished rooms are very dated, it is worth paying the extra for the upgrade.

Good location.
Lots of noise at night from the street. I had to walk down to the front desk to get internet access (please offer it when people arrive or leave the password in the room). Whomever writes their menus needs to stop butchering French. Said "breakfast included," when I asked the waitress what was included she said "you can order anything," then I got charged.
