"Good quality hotel with a few weak points." (108006892)
Rooms are very comfortable and well equipped.Fittings are in a good state. The public rooms are attractive.
Food quality is not up to the room standard and service of food in the bar is slow.

"The extractor fan was not working in the bathroom. It would have been helpful to have been told that the car park was £7.50 a night when we arrived to have given us the option of parking eleswhere e.g. The holiday inn carpark is free to park and is just down the road. We would of liked to have had a few drinks in the hotel bar but at £4 for a vodka and on a tight budget that was out of the question. On a positive note it was great that breakfast on Sunday was until 11.30am and what a fantastic choice." (97336285)
The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times
The window could have opened slightly more than it did. The extractor didnt work in the bathroom and you needed a degree in electronics to work out the air conditioning. I put my card in as requested but there was no booklet to explain what everything meant.

Noise from outside on our second night. Very noisy person shouting for at least 15 minutes.

"The Chester Crowne Plaza is an excellent hotel to stay in. It is right in the centre of town, all the shops, bars, restaurants are literally a 5 minute walk from the hotel entrance. The leisure facilities are excellent. The pool/steam room/jacuzzi etc is never crowded. Breakfast staff very pleasant and helpful. Rooms are tastefully decorated and cleaned to a high standard." (97202591)
Close proximity to town centre. Leisure facilities.
Having to pay 7.50 per night for the car park The hotel used to have a tea/coffee machine in the breakfast restaurant where you could help yourself to tea/coffee/capuccino/latte etc and it was lovely. Now you get a really strong pot of coffee.

"The location is excellent right in the centre of Chester. The food and service was good, the staff very friendly making us feel welcome. The leisure facilites were good. The room was very good - the bed was especially comfortable. All in all a very good hotel - worth the trip." (97530971)
The staff were very pleasant and efficient, the hotel's amenities were all very good
The parking - I would not have been happy if I had had to park in the public car park.

"This hotel is in a good location for Chester City centre. On this occasion we had travelled by train intending to get a taxi, however on leaving the station we noticed there to be a free shuttle bus service to the city centre. We decided to try this, the drop off point was a short walk to the hotel (4 to 5 minutes, the return bus may be picked up from the same bus-stop. Check-in (and out) was a smooth efficient process. The room was clean and well appointed with no disturbing outside noise (despite overlooking a main road. Restaurant for dinner was adequate rather than good, but no real complaint. Breakfast provided a reasonably good selection. All staff were both friendly and efficient. Overall all services were as would be expected for the price, in fact restaurant prices seemed quite reasonable for a hotel restaurant, bar prices were more in line with the premium normally paid in hotel bars. We had no negative observations." (97560091)
Good central location, friendly efficient staff and overall good value.

"Ideal position for stay in Chester. Cleanliness of hotel first class. Staff very attentative. Excellant leisure facilities including indoor pool if required. Only criticism is high price of drinks in the bar but plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby.Excellant restaurant just round the corner is Upstairs at the Grill but be sure to reserve a table in advance." (97803420)
Excellant position within city walls
Would have stayed in hotel more in the evening if drinks had been cheaper in the bar.

"A well sited hotel within the city walls.Finding our way via the one way system was a bit fraught but we got there in the end! The booking confirmation shows directions ONLY from the North and motorways. As we were travelling from the South M5,M6,M54 and then A41 we were on our own!" (97746785)

As usual in UK temperature in Corridors and rooms kept too high which I find oppressive.

Nothing realy apart from the walk to the overfow car park, I would suggest some form of pedestrian crossing in front of the Hotel.

Accommodation and public spaces are very pleasant. Food and kitchen service has improved since this time last year.
Minor point only. For mature customers, of whom there are many, the instructions on the air-conditioning are very small.

"I could not find fault with the hotel, the breakfast menu and service was excellent and on one evening we dined in hotel and had a first class meal. On our arrival we were informed that the car park was full, however we were supplied with vouchers for a secure council car park within 100 metres, excellent service to address this unforseen problem. We left having had a very enjoyable weekend and will return." (97688043)

Hotel was excellent in every way, very reasonable price. The reception staff were polite, friendly and helpful.
Mainly the staff in the bar not friendly at all never even smiled. The car park being full which meant we had to carry our luggage to the car park round the corner when checking out.

Hotel is very good, excellent location for the city centre. We were in an executive room, I would have liked a bigger choice in the Club lounge, maybe some cider and some spirits. The lounge was very warm which made it very uncomfortable. All in all I would recommend this accommodation.
We had a dispute with the night bar tender over a measure of Port, and had to involve the duty manager for a resolution. Manager increased the measure to the correct volume.

"Overall a very pleasant stay, however service in the bar area tended to be very slow (half an hour for a round of drinks) if you used waitress service, they don't really like to serve you at the bar but will if you insist. The staff were very polite and we would recommend the hotel to other people." (97828557)
The room was very comfortable and clean.
Would have expected freeview channels on TV. The chanels were basic BBC1, BBC2, ITV etc. and free wifi access would have been nice, a lot of hotels seem to be offering it these days.

"This hotel is well worth its star rating. From walking in the front door to Reception was like clockwork, the way we were dealt with booking in.The room was ideal with everything you need from being a buisness traveller,to a normal traveller..With mini bar,pc line, tea and coffee facilities in the room, everything was there..The restaraunt was superb, the food very good, and not really more than a 2 minute wait..The bar was great..All the staff were very polite and helpfull, and were called at all times Sir or Madam..The food was excellant.....The leisure facilities were very good, and the pool was good...We had to pay to park the car in the hotel car park, which was 7.50 pounds a day...No smoking hotel, but you could outside in a designated place....Overall,not one complaint we can think of and will be reccomending this hotel and all of its sisters hotels to our friends, and will come back to this hotel.." "Very Clean and handily placed hotel for town centre. Room rate did not include breakfast which at 14.95 per person would add another £30 to the double rate £109 to the bill. Hotel guests are also expected to pay for car parking at a 'reduced rate' of £7 or £8. A total of £145 per night seemed very expensive for a very ordinary room." (99402370)
