    "Disappointing." (108062270)

Good location for what we wanted.

Breakfast service was poor. I requested a continental breakfast but the waitress did not know what one was so had to have cooked breakfast instead. Felt the room was grubby and particularly did not like the idea of the sink being in the bedroom area as opposed to the bathroom, which was tiny any way. Felt that the reception staff were not overly friendly.

Quick booking by internet, availability of wireless LAN,

Poor facilities of shower and toilet, various menus for breakfast are expected

    Location

It was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. The shower leaked all night, had chipped tiles and filthy grout. It was so bad that I chose not to have a shower. The taps were filthy. The carpet was stained and filthy. The tea cups were stained, the furniture chipped, woodwork dusty and the room hadn't even been hoovered properly as there was somebody else's rubbish under the bed. Overall, I felt it was a health hazard. So much so that I declined to have breakfast and left the hotel early. I am absolutely appalled at the condition of the hotel. When I asked for an iron and ironing board, I was told to go down into the cellar and get it myself. I cannot begin to express my disappointment and disgust that such a hotel could be allowed to operate. I have every intention of taking this further.

    It was clean.

Only bad thing i could really say would be that the staff were not very welcoming & there was no biscuits to go with the tea! haha!!

"Diabolical. I would have liked to have known that this was a 1 star hotel before booking." (97967441)

The Reception staff had body odour. It was very strong. I was asked to pay on arrival, but I declined. The room only had a barrel lock on the door. No deadlock. I put a chair against the door when I was in the room as I did not feel safe at all as a single female guest. The windows opened fully but they did not lock when closed. The fan I found in the room was very dirty and the electrical PAT test was out of date by 4 months (not health and safety compliant). Cigarette burn marks on the sink. Stained carpet. Stained bedspread. No warm welcome or at departure. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I would not recommend it to anyone. My room was between Reception and the lift shaft which was very noisy.

"I was disappointed at the cleanliness of the hotel. My stay was for one night only and I found it difficult to sleep because of the damp smell of the room. Both windows were opened but this did not detract from the smell. I did not feel that I could use the sink nor drink the water from the tap as the sink was dirty. The bath was dirty and coated with a sticky grease. The shower attachment to the bath was filthy and the plastic shower head was of a poor standard. The reception staff were cold and impersonal.I was not even asked if I had a good night. This was a very poor bed and breakfast accommodation. Not a Hotel." (97184290)

Breakfast was adequate and the staff member was polite.

The room was not clean. The bath and sink were dirty and greasy. The bed clothing smelt damp and left a smell on your clothes. The carpet and chair seats were badly stained. There was no lighting at the desk so I had to read my papers at the bed side light.

    Location

The size of a signle room where i stayed was approximately the size of an avarege bathroom, looked more like a storage place. Everything was old, dusty, bed linen was dirty.

    it had everything i needed

i could not stand up stright in the shower without hitting my head on the ceiling (im only 55). the toilet took two hours to refil after being flushed and the room was far too hot despite the radiators being turned off - my makeup melted in the same way it does when in a hot country or when you put it too near a heater.

  • 2/10 Melodie ( Solo leisure traveller)

from Burgess hill , GB  on  January 25, 2008

"The room was very nice in the 1980's, but battered and shabby. There was a smell of urine in the bathroom. The bath was dirty and stained so I did not use it. There was a screw sticking out of the wall by the headboard which I caught my PJ's on and ripped. The walls were dirty with holes left from past equipment being removed. The radiator did not work. Had I booked for longer i would have checked out and gone elsewhere. The staff were uninterested and dismissive, barely acknowledging me. I had asked on the booking sheet to be able to leave my room at 12 noon rather than 11am, this was not allowed." (97007108)

The TV was a new wall mounted slimline.

The mini-bar was locked, so nowhere to get a cold drink. When I aske d for a cold drink on arriving back at 11.30pm, I was told they only had beer for £3 per small bottle.

Ten minute stroll to Picadilly Circus; fifteen minute stroll to Madame Tussaud's. Fantastic shopping - clothes, electrical, souvenirs, all within a ten minute walking radius. Staff are very helpful. Excellent, free, reliable wireless internet connection provided by the Hotel for my laptop 24 hours a day. 24 hour shop and post box one minute walk away. Room neat and tidy. Ensuite is fine. Small bar fridge, television, direct-dial telephone, writing desk, closet with hang up space and drawers included. Bed very comforable. Room well lit. Room thoroughly cleaned each day. Easy to find when I first arrived. Quiet location - off the main road. I thoroughly recommend this hotel without any hesitation at all. Real value for money compared with other hotels. Excellent service." (99921997)

"I would say that once the construction project across the street is done, this would be a worthwhile place to stay." (99989648)

The employees at the hotel were very kind and helpful. The rooms were mainly clean although there were some interesting stains on the bed covers. We hoped that they were at least sanitized, and they probably were because everything else was pretty clean. The rooms and bathrooms were pretty big. We had a lot of space. Breakfast was good.

There is a huge construction project right across the street from the hotel. From about 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. there is constant booming, hammering and drilling sounds coming from there. If you won't be in your room during those times, this is a fair price for a decent room in a good area, if you will be in your room during the day, this is incredibly unpleasant. (I got sick and was stuck in my room for two days with that horrible noise. It was not a nice experience.)

Because we were only staying for the weekend, the accommodation was adequate for us.

The shower area was small, and in need of repair. The water was very hot,and could not be altered, possibly because the shower was broken.

It was within walking distance of the training venue.

The staff did not seem interested in the fact that the door would not lock from the inside, informing me that it would only open to those who had a key !! The room, bedding and toilet were dirty, building work on the building oppostite started at 3.30 am on the Tuesday morning.
