    There were no good points

Too many to list, from getting keys to rooms already occupied after booking single rooms, this happened twice, the wall paper was held together with silicone, rooms were shabby, poor reception service.

"I felt i was treated with contempt by an uninterested and unhappy work force and at no point did anyone smile or try to make me feel welcome during my whole stay. Usually i would say you get what you pay for but this hotel wasn't worth even half of the £38 pound room fee and i feel it is well overdue an inspection from health and hygiene officials. " (107855280)

    the bed linen was clean

The curtains were half hanging off, the nets were ripped and dirty, no remote for the TV, the bathroom was falling to pieces eg; bath panel hanging off, show brace broken, no towel rail and mold in corners, the reception staff started to check me in then would disappear for long periods to complete other jobs and serve other guests, hallways were blocked for long periods of time with various items of cleaning and maintenance equipment and the continental breakfast consisted of processed ham and cheese slices and value bread which I had to butter with a spoon. the taxi rank attached to the building charged me £9 for a 2.5 mile journey the return taxi from a company suggested by a local friend cost £4.50

    None. Clean Bathroom.

Walls were too thin, you could hear ppeople having sex and nothing was done about it after we told the desk staff. You could hear large gruops of people running around the corridors. All the staff were miserable except the security guard. Breakfast was crap, who has ham and cheese sandwiches for breakfast?? And the food on the table was never re-filled by staff unless you asked, but they were no where to bewe seen. Cleaners/maintenance staff, enter your room straight after knocking on the door, they do not wait for a reply to say the room is not empty. Dirty carpets in room, stains on the wall.

    Cheap and cheerful

Girl on the reception didn't know what to do. Not her fault because I think it was her first day. I was there 15 mins while she was told how book a guest in. New staff should be given training before letting them loose on the general public

Room requires completed refurbishment. Mould on ceiling on en-suite. Damaged floor and wall tiles. Lamp shade missing. Bag over smoke detector, probably to stop it going off when steam escapes from en-suite. Meagre and poor quality of continental breakfast.

Good location for our needs. Adequate parking.

We had called in advance and requested an early check-in. When we arrived, this seemed to have been forgotten and we were given the impression that we were an inconvenience. What followed was a very short check-in - we paid. We were not made to feel welcome or informed about breakfast, the facilities, check-out times etc etc. Found the receptionsit rude and unfriendly.

    Clean, quiet and spacious

continental breakfast is unsatisfactory, reformed ham and processed cheese is not continental. Hallways are usually cluttered with cleaning materials and dirty linen. Hotel/ cleaning staff use the lift which means getting to use it is a luxury.

when I booked on line and put in my credit card details,I presumed the booking was completed. When I got to the hotel they asked for payment for the room as the online completion was merely to hold the room. I do prefer this method of payment but it would of been helpful if the system had let me know in advance that the credit card only holds the booking.

"We would never stay at this hotel again and would recommend that you drop it from your listing. We have travelled all over the world to many countries in developed and developing nations and can attest that this it the worst hotel we have ever encountered. It is not worth the money charged and definitely not "value for money" as quoted in their web site. There were allegations from local taxi drivers and people we met who lived in the area that this hotel had a poor reputation - I would agree with them. I would hesitate to ever use your chain of hotels after this experience. I usually book our travel on line - but would not use your service again and would recommend to others to also find alternative suppliers. We would recommend that you verify our experience and that of others through an independent inspection yourself of this hotel. Regarding remaining anonymous - you will likely not post this commentary on the web, but the hotel already knows that we had a poor experience - we were quite clear that we felt they were taking advantage of their clients. From the tone and nature of your policy statements, it would appear that your supply of hotels has caused travellers more than once to have had a less than positive experience - this was certainly ours." (108055311)

Closer geographic proximity to our relatives (within walking distance). We thought it also had a moderate price point advantage....which was not respected. See below.

We booked through internet 2 weeks before travel and had a confirmation of room and price that was not respected and the room we had reserved was not held for us, but the price of the cheaper room was not adjusted, thus we paid 20 pounds more per night for the smaller room that we were given (i.e. the price was not adjusted for the smaller room). The heat in the room was on, while the temperature was 30 degrees celsius outside and the windows were blocked so they could not be opened beyond a small crack (we used a tool fo remove the block to get some air into the stiflingly hot room). The "contental breakfast" was dry white bread and processed cheese and ham and watered down juice with coffee. There was no choice of any other than cereal. We could not phone a number outside the hotel system and there was no public phone available, so we had to take a ten minute walk to a public phone to make a phone call. There was obviously no internet hookup available - although the hotel was connected. When our family phoned to leave a message they were told we were not in the hotel, until my relatives persisted that they knew we were. The staff were unfriendly, evasive, stubborn and argumentative. We were aware of many others having similar experiences, every time we entered the lobby to leave or enter the hotel, someone was having an argument or displaying emotionally upset behaviour with the front desk or office staff. We never saw anyone treated with respect. We considered finding other accomodation at another hotel, but in the summer with an international sporting event at Crystal Palace and with the need to be close to our relative(88 and in poor health) we considered we did not have any alternative at all and so elected to stay for the 3 nights we had booked, but it was not a pleasant stay. The resident taxi service was poor when we needed taxi service, so we had to find alternate transportation ourselves. The room was poorly maintained and grubby. At least the bedding was ok (we were initially concerned about cleanliness, but the sheets were ok). The cleaning staff were standard, which was the only normal experience we had. The staff in the breakfast room were unfriendly. All-in-all it was an experience not to be repeated.

Good value, friendly staff, everything was grand. Had an enjoyable stay.

On the on-line booking it told us that check-in starts at 2pm, we got there at 2 and we were told it doesn't start til 3pm, so we waited in the bar, we saw a lot of other people checking in, but we just waited, then we went up at 3pm and the same staff member said 'oh have u not checked in yet', we said no because you told us we couldn't til now.. we just left it at that.

"Not the break I had hoped for. I was glad to be going home after 3 nights. The hotel is cheap compared to some, but I expected more nonetheless. I don't think I got my money's worth. I probably could have tolerated my time there better if the room hadn't been so stuffy." (107235111)

There are some nice restaurants and cafes near by. There is a Sainsbury's down the road. As the hotel has no restaurant facilities for lunch or dinner, this was essential for me. There are some nice little shops near by too. Good points about the hotel itself are few: the room was cleaned daily, with new towels provided. Not sure if the sheets were clean every day or not. The general cleanliness of the room was okay. The bath was okay. The bed was okay - I would have slept okay if it hadn't been so stuffy due to the constant heating. I wouldn't say there were any GOOD points though.

Check-in was abysmal and unprofessional: they had no record of my internet booking. They asked me to go through a pile of booking print-outs to see if I could find mine. I was therefore able to see the names of many of the guests. In the end I had to log on to my emails at the reception computer in order to show them my confirmation email. The heating could not be turned down or off and made being in the hotel room very uncomfortable. The TV reception was very poor. There were only two electrical sockets in the room - one was taken up by the fan, which I had to have on constantly in order to feel slightly comfortable. So, I couldn't boil the kettle, dry my hair, charge my phone, or have the TV on at the same time - very annoying. The water pressure in the shower was poor. There were no towel rails or hooks in the bathroom. The loo paper was like sandpaper - I had to go and buy my own. There was no loo brush. Breakfast was abysmal - definitely not worth getting up for. Apparantly the hotel is also used as a homeless shelter - if this is true, I don't think it is appropriate.

Shower not attached to wall. Shower pressure minimal. No hot water in the morning to the extent that no water (hot or cold) came out of the sink or bath hot tap. I waited over 3 hours for an iron that I was told would be brought up to the room by housing keeping. When I enquired at 7pm after waiting since 4pm I was told to try back in an hour, I was leaving for an engagement party at 8pm. I phoned reception at 7:30pm and an iron was available. Why the iron was not on the way to my room at that point I do not know.

Well placed for needs of the moment. Clean, good rooms and price for rooms in this location.

Breakfast is poor - this is my second time of staying at this hotel and the same was true last time. Never enough food on the table for people attending. Have to ask for basics. Staff are polite but it did feel as if guests were a nuisance asking for basics. Check-in is always risky - there is alsways (twice) something not quite right but it gets sorted out quickly. It is almost a ritual that needs to be gone through.

Cheap! Was able to park my car for free. Hotel very handy to main street of Crystal Palace, and quite handy for station. Main lift and reception very posh! Nice goldfish in reception!

Bed very uncomfortable, furniture has seen better days, bath grotty, not enough lighting. Breakfast consisted of white sliced bread, portions of jam and butter, choice of 2 cereals, 2 fruit juices and tea / coffee (not exactly great, but what do you expect for £40 in London?) Room was like one of those "fun houses" you get at the fair - the floor and ceiling sloped at varying different angles! One of the lifts was very scary - sounded like a YTS trainee was winding it up and down!

The continental breakfast wasn't up to much and the staff didn't seem able to get their act together. The selection was limited to processed cheese and ham slices with bread/toast,jam and cereal. Our room key was deactivated each day which was rather annoying as we were on a floor where the lift didn't go to and rather worryingly the receptionist simply reactivated it without checking that we were actually guests! We also had an unauthorised payment taken from our credit card which is currently being sorted out, although I had to fax a written explanation to them as they seemed incapable of dealing with it over the 'phone. Overall not a very good experience but not bad enough to spoil our stay." (97428903)
