"The booking process, check in, location, facilities are excellent and I would recommend the hotel to others. My only issue with the hotel is the evening meal which they run as a sort of carvery. The food for this was bland, overcooked, stewed and not at all good value and I feel something the hotel needs to review, as they state that they introduced based on customer requests, which may or may not be the case, but I cannot believe was based upon the bland food on offer during my stay." "Very enjoyable; the cost of accommodation was not cheap, but the facilities are very good. Bar prices are surprisingly low compared to some." (99360443)
It was quiet; the room was clean and warm.
Hot water took a long time to come through.

Location is brilliant - large room, SKY sport.
Dinner lacked flair for the price.

"Although having visited the Warren numerous times since 1962, this was the first visit to the Langstone.Blessed generally with beautiful weather with a couple of rain showers, we found this a marvellous break. The cleanliness and general nothing too much trouble attitude was impressive. It would have been nice if the waiting staff looked a little more as if they wanted to be there as they seemed to have dead-pan facial expressionswith no 'good morning'tongues.I know we only stayed for a weekend but was it really necessary to have 3 separate locations to digest the food. There was nobody at the desk within the room to enquire of so a member of staff had to be sought out. The name cards on each table were so small that one had to visit each table in the absence of staff.Would it not have been better to have had a vertical pole with room number there on each table and then should it be necessary to be reseated, it can be seen from a distance and not made to feel lost.It would have been nive to have seen a supervisory presence in the garden area. Perhaps people who decided to play cricket and proceed to annoy others could have been advised. The supervision of the pools was questionable.Very young children were seemingly unsupervised and balls and inflatables were allowed in the inside pool. Not in themselves a problem but is there supervision?. With the exception of the noisey plumbing, it was a fabulous experience with congratulaions to all concerned. Pennies are now being inserted in the piggy bank for the prospect of a further visit." (3305078419)
clean, well presented in an idyllic setting in DAWLISH WARREN.Nothing seemed too much trouble . Plenty/varied choice of breakfast menu.
The hotel plumbing is in need of attention as the noise from the system disturbs both oneself and other residents. the musical chairs scenario at meal time.

"I booked the hotel on line. They then phoned me to confirm my booking and took full payment over the phone. I had requested a No Smoking room at the time. When I arrived the reception told me that they do not have a policy of keeping seperate No Smoking rooms. I advised them that I had requested this online and when they phoned. So why did they not tell me at the time? No appolagy was offered by the hotel and I had to accept what I was given! The attitude of the staff is probably in keeping with the hotel management." Location, nice setting.

"As a young Business traveller, I have stayed in a fair few hotels. Many of which do not make you feel like you are at home. This hotel however was different. The room I was in was spacious, comfortable and clean. There was also a free wireless internet service there which to me is an extremely nice feature. I could do my work in the room and didnt have to pay extorionate rates just to get on the internet. The food was very nice, and at its price, I couldnt complain at all." (3304477098)
The room was very neat and tidy. Great view of the sea.

"We enjoyed are weekend break as we were looking for a relaxing two days of doing nothing. The swimming pool and fitness room were of a good standard and not too busy. The walk to Dawlish Warren was a pleasent 10 minute walk with three or four pubs on the way. The breakfast was wonderful with ample choices to suit all especially the hogs pudding which was the first time i'd tried it. The friendly bar staff made our nights in the lincoln bar very enjoyable. Although the hotel is in secluded grounds away from the hustle and bussle of city life the likes of Paignton and Torquay were in easy driving distance." (3304319931)

"The Hotel was not what I was expecting, sea views are distant with most rooms without them. Also the rooms were a bit ''stale' not at all fresh. The swimming pool is tiny great for small children but no good if you want to swim.we wre diddapointed with the availability of food ,In other hotels they serve food all day and evening not just at meal times." (2890539)
The room was adequate
There is no food served out side of the luch/dinner times. When I enquired about a menu for room service there wasn't one and I was told its pot luck just ask .this is not clear enough or indeed there is not enough food available.

"To be honest it was part of the fun discovering the place. We already knew the area. If I had known that they catered for families so well, it might have put me off intially but in fact every group was so well catered for and sensitively segregated that it was not an issue - so I would not have wanted to know this!" (2564394)
We stayed with my elderly parents and the facilities were such that they could have a restful, peaceful time on the veranda whilst young families with children played elsewhere so neither group disturbed each other
Perhaps more introductory explanations at the check in. We had to ask a lot to begin with.

"The lunch took 25 mins to arrive - staff could not work the software for ordering food - all we ordered was a ploughman's and a pastie which was rubbish - the atitude of the person who looked after breakfast the following morning was rude - did not offer semi - skimmed milk - only full cream. Was told no one can tell the difference. We cancelled dinner as they opened up the resturant to the camp sites for a disco for the kids during dinner - not a problem if they kept this separate. Overall - I was extremely disappointed. We had booked for two nights but cancelled after the first day - moved on to a hotel that knows how to look after paying customers." (2482499)
If this hotel keeps its 3 star rating I will be amazed
Service - Food - Rooms brought up to date - Staff

"As I said the hotel was exactly as described. No complaints on that score. Just expected better of the receptionist and the waiting on staff in the dining room." (2374659)
The Hotel was exactly the same as the description on the website. It was clean and pleasant.
Staff. There were two receptionists on arrival. One was checking in a family who arrived at the same time as my wife and myself. her colleague made the assumption that we were all together and made no attempt to check us in until we pointed out that we were NOT together. Our room was not ready for us, no big deal as we arrived around 12.00 but her suggestion that we had a drink until our room was available at around 2.30 was a little over the top. She did not suggest that we could leave our luggage behind reception, we had to ask! On a more positive note the Dining Room manageress who was on duty in the evening was excellent. She was very attentive, which is more than can be said for her younger members of staff, but I suppose it's early in the season and they will improve with experience.

"Evening meal poor in quality (esp first course), overcooked and possibly reheated. Little choice. Waitress staff attentive, friendly and keen to help but could do with more training - somewhat amateur White wine warm and no possibility of replacement (all from same fridge said barman) All staff tried very hard, esp breakfast staff, barman and waitresses. Seems hotel not really used to business stayers - possibly more suited to holidaymakers. Breakfast v good but didn't open till 730 - 7 would have been more helpful. No staff till 8 so booking out done by man who happened to be hovering nearby. Room nice but v outdated colour scheme. V clean and comfortable." (1726900)

"Accommodation booked via Internet. Perhaps price of evening meal menu might have been quoted in your information? There was no indication of special events evening nights when prices were considerably increased? Friday evening meal was £19.50 p.p.against £37.00 p.p. Saturday evening when special event was arranged. Hotel is well situated for accessing local facilities, particularly for families. Glad we visited in October being out of season. We would visit your hotel again." (1602237)
Accessible to visit local friends living in Starcross. Room was clean/comfortable. Evening meal on Friday; plus Breakfast was good.
Size of Room 38 excellent but floor boards squeaked badly when we walked round room or to bathroom? Immediate attention needed here!!

"An overnight stay is usually an overnight stay, more of a necessity in my role rather than a perference but this was different and certainly a welcome and pleasant change to the norm. The location is fantastic, I am not usually one for scenery but even I wandered out to take in the clifftop view and the staff were very friendly. If I ever need to stay in the area again this would be my first point of reference. Great value for money!" (1446287)

Dusty and a little noisey on approach to reception due to building work.
