Food was generally good and staff were friendly. Very nice gym and swimming pool.

Overpriced and poor value for money. Staff training seemed lacking. Room was very out-dated with dirty linen, toilet not work, broken tiles in bath room, old/uncomfortable bed.

"grounds well kept but overall the staff seemed to give the impression that they were there just to pick up the pay packet and not to help paying quests" (99089018)

reception terrible.dinner bad because had to seat next to a table of 9 with 7 children screaming, no need for this plenty of roon elsewhere. All the wood in the restaurant sticky, unclean, Had not been hoovered since the night before, breakfast cookedfor two long before service

"We really enjoyed our stay. We have stayed in Best Western accomodation before and, as always, it was comfortable inviting and good value." (97118933)

The staff were extremely friendly and professional

We had a sandwich in the bar (early evening) and it was excellent. The breakfast was a dissapointment.

"The hotel is adjacent to a theme park and is very easy to find. Ok for an overnight stop or if visting Camelot. Nothing to object to about the place. Bar menu a bit limited." (97168338)

Comfortable and all facilities well maintained

"Staff twice knocked on door when do not disturb sign was on display. They should be trained better than that." (99842584)

Very good value, beds were comfortable

but room was a long way from reception and car park which was a problem with luggage

  • 9/10 Sandra ( Mature couple)

"Only stayed for 1 night but was impressed with the hotel, staff and facilites. Would definitely recommend other's to stay here. Clean, comfortable and ample parking." (99378748)

The hotel is situated in excellent grounds. Both breakfast and evening meal were excellent, the staff very helpful and friendly. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

The only thing to complain about was the lack of power of the shower. It took a long while to wash the shampoo out of your hair as there was no force what so ever from the spray

  • 6/10 Ian ( Mature couple)

from Northampton , GB  on  April 24, 2007

"For a three star hotel, our room was disappointing. Adequately equipped but in need of a radical refurbishment. The reception and public areas on the ground floor were smart and clean but were let down by the corridors and rooms. More appropriate for a 2 star hotel. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful." (99553899)

The grand exterior and the setting. Excellent Breakfast.

Shabby and run down rooms. No spare blankets on a chilly night

  • 9/10 Derek ( Mature couple)

from Church broughton , United Kingdom;GB  on  March 14, 2007

"Nice hotel though we were not aware that it was alongside a Theme Park until we realised that we had to follow the Theme Park Brown Signs to get there. We went in the closed season so the park was not intrusive. The hotel was not aware of our booking but were not full so it was not a problem on the night. Whether this was Action Hotels problem or the hotel itself I am do not know." (99605211)

Very nice room. Served meals until 9:30 and the ones we had were very nice.

Smoky atmosphere in some of the public rooms despite the staff trying to keep the smokers outside. This led to them being in open doorways which also made it cold.

"If the rooms had been on a par with the qualitiy of the food and service in the resturant we would have been more satisfied" (99012567)

More of an introdution to the hotel and facilities

    very shabby

  • 10/10 Anne ( Group of work colleagues)

    from Manchester , United Kingdom;GB  on  January 22, 2007

Friendly, attentive staff, tastefully decorated, clean and well looked after surroundings. Everything worked perfectly. No stale smell of smoke lingering. The staff were excellent when I was taken ill at breakfast time (I had an epileptic fit) - they didn't flap and did everything they could to help - which was appreciated so much by my sister who was left to pack my things - they allowed extra time for checking out and told her not to worry, and it was not a problem (which is good really as I do not travel lightly!). Top marks to all the staff at Park Hall, excellent.

    No complimentary toiletries.

    Of very high standard

  • 5/10 Anonymous ( Solo business traveller)

"I had stayed at this hotel before some months ago and thought it was very nice. However on this stay it was extremely disappointing with regards the service particularly. Wake up call not done on the first day when requested but on second day when not requested, likewise mix up with newspaper. As mentioned above, would have like to watch TV or a movie when I got back late but was unable to do so on either day as the facilities in the room were not working. Generally disappointed as just wanted to get back and relax at hotel after several business appointments and instead spent time trying to get things fixed which were in fact not done, although someone did come up and fix the window." (99521386)

The accomodation is in beautiful surrounding and generally very nice overall.

I did not like the fact that various things in the room did not work including the TV, any movies, could not get window open etc.

  • 8/10 Anonymous ( Solo leisure traveller)

"First Best Western hotel I have stayed in. It is on the same site as the 'Camelot' theme park but don't be put off by this. There is loads of parking, the staff are polite and friendly and it's quiet. It's possibly the quietest, large hotel I have stayed in despite the fact it seemed fairly full. It's probably worth booking ahead if you want an evening meal - the on-site pub doesn't do food. Well sign-posted from the M6 and surrounding roads. I'd recommend this hotel." (99327895)

Despite being busy (it was school holiday time) the hotel was quiet at night.

Shame the on-site 'pub' doesn't do food. The restaurant was busy and it would be useful to have an alternative venue for meals.

  • 8/10 Trevor ( Mature couple)

    from Hartlepool , United Kingdom;GB  on  October 25, 2006

"The hotel is in a lovely setting with a theme park nearby. Our room had a lovely view over what appeared to be a small wood, between the hotel and the theme park. The furniture and cleaniness of the room were very good but the overall atmosphere was spoilt by loose wallpaper on parts of the wall, and the smell of cigarette smoke in an allocated non-smoking room. There was also a problem with the hot water system as the next day as we couldn't get any to run through the sink tap. As we only stayed one evening we were unable to test out any of the hotel's facilities, but the public areas that we saw were excellent. The only other thing that we felt was missing was a sign on the opposite side of the road to the hotel indicating the entrance as the road is unlit and we nearly missed the turn in. These couple of problems would not stop us from using the hotel again" (3305340104)

The setting for the hotel was excellent and for anyone with children I would imagine that the attached theme park would be a big attraction. As we only stayed one evening it was not possible to explore the hotel's facilities

The wallpaper was loose from the walls in places which made the room feel a bit shabby, although the furniture and the cleaniness were good. The room was also allocated as a non-smoking room but there was an odour of cigaette fumes in the air. The next morning there was no hot water running through the sink tap

"All round a very good stay" (3305329953)

Gym and swimming pool, as well as wireless broadband in reception

several staff did not know opening times of gym or swimming pool. Sausage at breakfast was abit overdone and tasteless

  • 7/10 Anonymous ( Group of adult friends)

"Not bad but have had far better times in other hotels. This was unfortumnately not our best experience." (3304319560)

Accomodation was suitably placed for the wedding we were attending. The room was clean and staff were helpful.

The room was tired with wallpaper coming away from wall. The shower sprayed out onto floor and through to hallway. A member of staff did help but only after being told about it. In truth this should have been picked up on by the cleaning staff. The carpet in the bedroom hallway outside the bathroom door was absolutely soaking. There were too many people in the restaurant for breakfast on the Sunday morning (approx. 350) with only one serving station availablein one small section of the restaurant. This caused chaos and some people in our party left early because they did not want to queue up for ages to even get into the restaurant. Very bad planning!

"overall the hotel was good and situated in lovely surroundings, carparking was limited and we were lucky to find a space. the leisure club facilities were excellent both for children and adults. there was a small amusement arcade and entertainment on for the children. the american diner served good food but was overpriced. the village inn bar was poorly stocked so we ended up spending most of our time in the reception bar." (3304768047)

the accommodation was clean and spacious just right for a family of four

the pull down double bed was uncomfortable and there was limited channels on the tv. one of the saucers was also dirty

Just like every other hotel room in which I've stayed - boring to the extreme!

  • 2/10 Anonymous ( Young couple)

"Overall, the hotel should have good facilities but it appears to have become run down and all the walkways and communial areas were in need of a good clean. Our bedroom was in one of the outside Chalets and the walls were paper thin. It felt like we were sharing the same room as the family of 4 who were next door. The bathroom was very dated, the toilet didn't flush properly and the shower was just a trickle of water. We had friends who were staying in the main hotel and they had similar problems. We had to que to get into the restaurant for breakfast and there wern't enough waiting staff so it took a very long time to get some Tea for our table. I don't feel the hotel was value for money and I won't be reccomending it." (3304387803)

    Very Little I'm afraid.

It was very dirty and shabby. It really needs a complete refurbisment throughout.

    from Stone , United Kingdom;GB  on  March 28, 2006

"If you go out of the summer season, you had better check whether some of the facilities advertised are in fact open. When I stayed, some were closed until Easter, when the new Camelot season starts e.g. pub, diner, some leisure facilities. I wish I had known that Camelot is literally on the doorstep, within the park grounds and that you cannot really walk the grounds, and certainly not without being deafened by the motorway which runs alongside. It would have been better if I had known that I would be staying in a holiday village, rather than in the hotel itself. However, in the season, with excited kids around, I'm sure it's a great place for families to stay." (3304410344)

Good-sized room with good facilities. Staff in the restaurant were very good.

There were ants in the bedroom. This was a cold March, so summer must be dreadful!

"Overall the hotel was neat, clean and tidy. The free leisure access to the pool, gym, sauna, jacuzzi etc was excellent and a welcome relief after a hard days driving. The evening meal was very good and the breakfast was above average. In this day and age when on business, more and more of us need internet connectivity. However, the costs really are expensive and a rip off in hotels. If you put a penny on a pint in the bar, it would probably cover free Internet connectivity and be a real selling point that would definately attract custom." (3304018298)

    Free leisure facilities Evening meal

Ensuring wireless internet connectivity in the bedrooms external to the main building. The bathroom shower was really awful! [room 9A]

"Recpetion staff extremely helpful, taking me to the room when I arrived very late and it was dark. The room was fine, but the bed very spongy - sank in the middle a bit. Breakfast excellent, dinner very nice too. For the evening meal, would have been better if the restaurant was not so bright- fine for breakfast, but really garish in the evening. Very helful staff when we left some items behind - received them back within 48 hours. Swimming pool fantastic, and jacuzzi nice and warm." (2980325)

Swimming pool facilities were great, but this area does look a bit tired and tatty.

Alot of young children around even in the bar area running and shouting but this did not bother us atall gave it a bit of happy atmosphere. Just unhappy around the themed room was a sickly limegreen yellow with bright colours everwhere you look.." (2907286)

The hotel is really nice and clean.. Staff are great but was not told about the themed room and found it awefull. After a few drinks the colours made us feel sick..

"Possibly the most bizarre hotel experience I have ever had. I was put into one of the chalets at the back of the hotel which was fine. However, when I walked in I discovered the chalet was sponsored by Bassetts sweets! Multi-coloured rooms with sweet logos everywhere, a 'Refreshers' themed bathroom and Bertie Bassetts all around. It was, however, very spacious, very clean and comfortable. I think there were only a couple of chalets themed in this way, but if you've got kids they would love it! I used the gym in the morning which was excellent - very well facilitated with a good selection of cardio and weights machines as well as a swimming pool etc." (2819328)

    Very spacious and clean

Parking immediately outsite the hotel was limited although there are lots of other carparks around the site but I wasn't keen on wandering around when I arrived in the dark

    Sadly, not very much.

Staff friendliness, room cleanliness and heating, showers that work. Poor and indifferent service by waiters in the resturant, Foood quality not great either. This is probably the first time that I have completed such a questionnaire after a stay, and since I am extremely busy at he moment you might understand that I was not happy. I've stayed in a good few Best Westerns before and by & Large they are reasonable

The food was poor and the service was not what i would have expected for the price." (2487932)

The fact that they run a number of functions on a Saturday night which meant the noise levels were unacceptable until 3am and then they started clearing up the mess on Sunday morning a 7.30am really spoilt my weekend. Also I felt the food in the restaurant was very poor and the service was not what i would have expected for the money.

I feel the hotel should've been more explict in advising potential guests booking as a couple including the cabaret show, that the majority of those attending would be hen parties - I would never have booked for the cabaret had I known."
