    Very Clean and low cost

Old, could do with a refurb

"Man Utd won, so all else doesn't really matter!" (107152568)

Friendly staff, good breakfast, close to both Old Traffords

No evening food at or nearby. Decor needs attention

"Am booking again for 1 night next week so it must be ok" (107264276)

Efficient check in. plenty of space in hotel and room. Adequate breakfast served promptly with a smile

Smell of damp , mustiness throughout

from West boldon , GB  on  August 30, 2008

"Ideal if you are going to the Cricket ground for an event, 5-10 mins walk, also pop into the bowling ground next door to the hotel, only £1.50 a pint!!Would recommend this hotel and would stay here again, thank-you xx" (97099163)

The staff at this hotel are lovely, really friendly. Our room was very spacious and clean, the bathroom was also a nice size. Could not complain about anything at this hotel.

Havent got anything bad to say apart from the bar was a bit grotty, but we only had one drink and then headed off to nearby pubs.

  • 6/10 Jane ( Young couple)

"Good location, room ok, generally clean, hotel overall a little dated. Would stay here again for an event in the nearby location, but not necessarily for any other purpose" (97881915)

Location in relation to metro and venue we attended was excellent

Room facilities were basic, but as booked. However, the shower was dangerous - temperature could not be controlled and it was scalding hot, resulting in not being able to use at all

  • 7/10 Sylvia ( Group of work colleagues)

    from Canterbury,kent , GB  on  August 12, 2008

    Price and size of accommodation

The shower did not work properly. There were birds nesting above my room (with babies) due to a broken covering outside my window. Lack of facilities for buying an evening meal, as we stayed from Friday to Sunday. The price of breakfast, with no alternative for a continental breakfast at a reduced rate; £6 for continental breakfast when a full breakfast is only £6 is just not fair.

"Ideal location close to metrolink stop and Old Trafford which was the purpose of our visit. " (108007976)

Large spacious room. Clean and comfortable - particularly liked the hot chocolate provided!

Room was rather dark which may have been a problem if we were staying for a few nights.

    "Very comfortable and accommodating." (108019351)

Staff were very helpful. I had an eye infection and could not have breakfast as my eyes were very painful due to an allergic reaction I had to eye ointment from my GP and had to attend eye casualty when I got home on the Friday morning. The hotel refunded the cost for breakfast. Also I left my mobile phone charger at the hotel and this was posted back to me by the hotel.

"I wouldnt book it again. I suppose it wasnt the worst hotel in the world, but still not that good. good enough for a short stay if you need something quick." (108032735)

tidy room, easy to use appliences.

too far away to walk from city center if you didnt have much time. paint was chipped on the wall/bath was also chipped and hinge half broken on door. not the best overall impression. easy to hear through the walls/doors. we didnt get exactly what we booked room wise.

"room and breakfast ok but bad points as above made our stay very poor " (97376324)

    clean room but basic

we were woken up at 1.15am in the morning by shouting swearing banging doors by a lot of men i complained to reception in the morning and was told sorry it was a stag party why put a mature couple like us in the same area as these men

  • 7/10 Jannette ( Same sex couple)

from Perth , AU  on  June 26, 2008

"The room served our purpose of a reasonably cheap overnight stay near the airport." (97809174)

Closeness to city attractions and airport. Size of room. Good parking on site.

No hot water from shower but was okay in the bath. Constant noise in room from a generator or something similar close by. All lights were operated by the switch near the door which was awkward when sleeping at the other end of the room.

  • 4/10 Kerry ( Group of work colleagues)

"dirty scruffy not very relaxing" (108013570)

hot drinks making facility in room. colour tv with sky

scruffy rooms, curtains hanging off, 4 mouse traps in room, building work going on outside bedroom window, phone in room not receiving calls meaning we missed our taxi. Hotel situated in a not very nice area of city. bathroom not clean. Bedroom furniture wonky ie drawer front came off when i opened the drawer.

Clean, good position for transport, pub and Old Trafford. Plenty teabags etc in room. Plenty room on car park.

Television didn't have BBC1 but I never mentioned it until we were leaving, may have been put right if I had.

"Thankful I only paid £26 with Active Hotels, compared to other sites. A very average hotel which needs urgent re-decorating and the staff to go on a customer service training course. I'm usually not too fussy, but I was very disappointed." (97509623)

    Excellent Full Breakfast for £6.

'Distracted' attitude from reception clerk. Venetian blinds in room broken, TV remote not working, room decor in bad state, shower condition and water pressure poor. Hotel Bar called 'last orders' at 9.50pm on a Friday night!

"I have been is less expensive Hotels and have found the standard far more superior to the Trafford Hall Hotel. Can you let me know why your standards were so low." (97771769)

Nothing - apart from being close to the venue which we were attending.

unclean, standing lamps did not work, curtain was hanging off the rail, (was fixed), not value for money. No resturant. Appearance of Receptionist untidy.

"The hotel needs up-dating. There was no hot water for a shower or bath on Wednsday. Some of the guests were DHSS - an ambulance turned up two nights running. If a hotel takes DHSS it should not be logged for business users. I did not feel confident enough to have a meal. The hotel industry must realise that there are more and more women who travel on business, as a result they must make the enviroment more appealing in order to get repeat business." (97735173)

    The location

It was tired, needs a make-over

  • 9/10 Leanne ( Young couple)

  • 8/10 Ronald ( Solo leisure traveller)

from Tulsa, oklahoma , US  on  March 27, 2008

"The big problem was the lack of food in the area. On game days the hotel restaurant closed and there is no other food service in the area. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, and the proximity of the Tram made all easier. A rather old facility that probably needs a good steaming and scraping & updating. The staff does make up for other problems." (97955275)

    Excellent staff.

minor plumbing problem. Had to really yank the toilet flusher, often several times, to get results.

Conveniently located, reasonable sized rooms, very friendly staff, excellent selection for breakfast (buffet and cooked).

No direct dial telephone - in or out, all calls had to be connected by operator. Reception closed at 10 p.m.

"We were charged £125 for a twin room that is nowhere near that price of standard. We then noticed that as it fell on a matchday for Manchester utd the price was conveniently more than double!!! For the following weekend(no matchday) I found the same room to be available at the price of £50!" (97510162)

  • 7/10 Rebekah ( Solo business traveller)

The room was comfortable and relaxing with sofa and chair and all the other facilities expected. will definatley stay here again when next in the area." (97160017)

I liked the old world charm of the hotel. makes a nice change to the more modern cloned ones.

The earthquake shuddering me awake at 1 in the morning. (But I wont hold that against the hotel!)

"Not too central, in its location. The downstairs (pub and restaurant) had a strong smell of bleach that wasnt very pleasant. The entrance was beautiful but also misleading as you then expected the bedroom to be of a similar standard and sadily it wasnt. In desperate need of decoration, especially the doors and walls." (97296211)

Suitable for 3 people, decent size room

Overall the room was very old fashioned and uot dated. There were cracks on ceiling, marks on the walls and a hole in the bathroom door.

"We enjoyed a good 1 night stay after a long journey from Scotland. The room was airy and comfortable. Staff were polite and courteous. Breakfast slightly overpriced at £6 per head but still a decent feed. The description was slightly exaggerated on Active Hotels website, stating the ground was in the shadow of Old Trafford's South Stand, givng us the impression it was literally a walk across the road, when infact it was more like 15 mins away." (97159734)

The hotel was very spacious and was well furnished. The facilities were excellent for our purposes. The location turned out perfect, as we were visiting Old Trafford Football Ground.

    No issues.

We were given a large room with plenty of space, with ample tea and coffee facilities.

There was a bit of traffic noise in our room as well as roudy guests shouting and singing at 3 o'clock in the morning, but then again it was the evening of a victorious Man Utd game, so it was to be expected!
