from Kidlington , GB on  August 5, 2008

"Room was average but not a deluxe which i book. The staff ruined my stay and were rude. " (107134400)

    Room was clean and tidy.

Staff were very rude when checking in. Stated i did not have a room, even when i showed them my confirmation. My room was not a deluxe room. I have written a letter of complaint to the hotel.

"Pleasant surroundings, nice room, central location, good price. Would definitely stay again." (107107595)

The hotel had all the facilities you would expect from a 4* and we got it at a bargain price. Much of it appears to have been refurbished, giving a clean and well polished impression. Free "pay" movies was a nice bonus.

Staff at reception didn't know anything about the attached Millennium Spa and didn't want to go out of their way to find out for us. Location of car park is ridiculous - a good 10 minute walk with heavy bags was not pleasant. Staff told us that we could have pulled up outside to drop off our bags before parking but I noted that other people who did that had their bags left unattended in the foyer - not a good idea in Reading. Breakfast was very expensive and there was no option of a cooked breakfast via room service - I would expect this in a 4*.

"I have stayed at this hotel several times and will continue to do so, and look forward to seeing the style of refurbished room." (107106950)

Town centre location, good size clean room, free movies and internet

Rooms are looking a little tired, but I have been told that they are currently being refurbished.

"The hotel needs a makeover. A fresh coat of paint and the replacement of carpets and furniture would make a huge difference. The carpet in the 2 rooms I stayed in were disgusting, very worn/travelled and i refused to walk in the room in my bare feet. The furniture in the rooms are outdated and very basic and the general appearance of the hotel is not inviting in the least. The staff seemed friendly enough and the leisure area was the best part of the hotel. Something would need to change before considering staying at this location again. " (97157133)

"The niggles I have are minor, and overall I was very happy with my stay, and eas excellent value for money. I will stay here again." (108052579)

Clean and tidy room, politeness of staff, town centre location.

Broken cupboard door in bedroom (minor niggle). Confusion regarding pre-stay information - confirmation e-mail said internet access was £15 which was more than I wanted to pay and so I didn't bring my laptop. The card on the internet wire in the bedroom said £10 - which I would have been happy to pay.

"We stayed rather than look elsewhere because of the size of our group and it would hve been too complicated to leave. " (97428609)

The lobby provided a place for our group to gather. Bar, TV were good features.

Air conditioning was horrible, Mattresses were horible, Breakfast buffet & coffee was bad, room was not very clean, pull out bed had a urine stain on the mattress pad.

  • 9/10 Julie (Group of work colleagues)

Lovely room extremely clean. No complaints at all.

The car park is a bit strange. Feels separate to the hotel.

  • 3/10 Hayden (Young couple)

"The rooms are very basic depite being called Deluxe rools. Their is nothing Deluxe about them. The rooms were way too warm. The mini bar was empty. The bathroom was old and needed updating. The room smelt of stale smoke despite being a non smoking room." (99948294)

The romms were way too warm, they smelt of stale smoke. All in all a very uncomfortable stay. I regret booking it.

    Comfortable, central location. Parking provided.

What we booked was not what we were allocated on arrival (twin beds + cot). But this was quickly remedied.

  • 9/10 Denise (Mature couple)

from Reading , GB on  April 9, 2008

"Everything was excellent except for the following: I requested some extra tea bags at reception in the morning as there were only two in the room when we checked in and we used these on arrival, i was told they could not give them to me at reception and they would get someone to bring them to my room. I rang reception 25 minutes later as they had still not arrived and she said she would chase it up and they arrived 10 minutes later. I know this is only a small thing but it makes all the difference." (97901177)

Bathroom lots of hot water. Breakfast was excellent.

Parking facilities were awful, room small although classed as an executive room over priced for what it is, no spare lamps to replace a broken bedside one, MT mini bar.

the hotel lobby area looked nice

im sorry to say but i think the price of the room was very very over priced because the finish in the bathroom was not upto standard for the price of the room and overall look was very dull, boring and old fashioned. also the heating in the room didnt work!

"THE CHECK IN WAS VERY QUICK AND FRIENDLY. THE EVENING DINNER WAS EXCELLENT AND THE STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. THE ROOM WAS REALLY NICE BUT WE EXPECTED A LARGER SIZE ROOM/BED FOR AN EXECUTIVE ROOM. THERE WAS NO INFORMATION ON CAR PARKING ON OUR ITINERARY AND WE FOUND THE CAR PARK QUITE A DISTANCE. OK FOR US BUT NOT SO GOOD IF SOMEONE WAS NOT SO MOBILE. OVERALL THE HOTEL ITSELF WAS REALLY GOOD." (3305037105)

THE STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. ESPECIALLY THE CHECK IN AND THE RESTAURANT. THE GOOD WAS EXCELLENT.

WE THOUGHT THE ROOM/BED COULD HAVE BEEN LARGER FOR AN EXECUTIVE ROOM

Comfortable hotel ideally located in heart of town.

Directions given on the website to the hotel were dreadful. We arrived separately and both got lost - fortunately, I know the town, so once I drove in the general direction of the town centre I found the hotel. Assumption was also made that guests arriving by the M4 are coming from London, so wrong directions are given when coming off motorway. Everything fine apart from this.
