"Thought it a bit expensive for bed and breakfast considering the condition of hotel. " (107208131)

    Staff Friendly and Professional

Hotel could do with smart-ting up outside and rooms also.

"Very good, breakfast was average but nice hotel was clean and tidy. would stay there again." (97865573)

Close to town centre easy to get to.

No secure parking you have to park in station car park which was full so at times it was difficult to find a parking spot.

The area inside the shower curtain over the bath is to small with curtain clinging while you have a shower.

from Harlow , GB  on  July 21, 2007

"The only negative points were the reception as above, and the car parking. There is parking in the station car park opposite, but not always. It is a problem if clients have heavy luggage to unload and the few front-of-house spaces are taken. However, overall we found the hotel clean and well-presented, the accommodation spacious, the breakfast first-class and the overall experience a pleasure. The plus points easily outweighed the minor glitches mentioned above, but I think it would be helpful if staff were trained to at least acknowledge the presence of new guests, however gripping the conversation in which they are engaged. Last, but certainly not least, the room rate represented excellent value for money." (99416055)

Room was big, light and with excellent en-suite facilities.

Receptionist was involved in a telephone conversation with a client or prospective client when we arrived. I stood at the reception counter for about five minutes before being acknowledged.

"Room comfortable but very noisy from traffic. Staff friendly but inefficient. Dining Room dinner service finishes much too early. More attention required to detail during breakfast service." (107260220)

Bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable

I requested a quiet room....allocated room was overlooking a main road. No-one on reception when i arrived....had to ring bell twice before anyone appeared. When checking out, staff more interested in taking staff photos than taking my payment. Dinner service only until 7.15....much too early. Previously opened/used individual preserve on breakfast table.

"We thoroughly enjoyed the Lakes, but would not choose to stay at this particular hotel again." (107220013)

Although I'd seen the hotel on the website, it was very different to how the actual hotel advertised itself. Not quite sure how they'd taken the photo but it looked nothing like! Considering, it's part of the GRAND HOTELS UK group, there was absoluteley nothing grand about it. Decor extremely dated and poor.

"Terrible, I will not be using this chain of hotels again" (108067713)

No shower gel / Shampoo (unheard of) a cost cutting too far. Breakfast, sparse and tasteless to say the least.

"Very disappointing - unfortunately it was a late booking and I rather wish I had taken a risk and found something on speck." (99290220)

Relatively cheap and available at short notice.

Tiny room, in a bad state of decoration generally, noisy and the breakfast was poor.

The bed linen and bathroom were very clean and white.

The curtains were filthy and the whole of the hotel would benefit from a refurbishment.

Room was comfortable enough followed in the morning with an enjoyable breakfast. We did not use bar or restaurant facilities, choosing to explore the town instead.

2nd floor corridor, 211 on has a very strong odour of damp and decay. Thankfully, this did not permiate to the bedroom.

The hotel was conveniently located and easy to find. the manager was very informative and friendly.Breakfast was a choice of cereals, fruit, juices with breakfast Grill or Kippers. good proximity to venue where I had to attend work

Inadequate car parking facilities. On checking in, we were asked if we would prefer a twin room.If we'd wanted this then we would have stated this requirement. No heating in room, radiator not working.Poor water pressure in bathroom basin hot tap.No remote control for T.V.

"The room was recently refurbished, but the radiator could not be turned off fully. With the window open the traffic noise was intrusive. However, the service at breakfast was very good and the quality of the breakfast was high. There are only 4 car parking spaces at the front of the hotel, on the road, which might be a problem if they are all taken. I had no problem with the parking." (99636686)

Excellent value for money. Very good breakfast.

    Traffic noise.

"Fine for a short stay - a little rough around the edges, but good value." (99604257)

Good value for an overnight stay. Good breakfast. Convenient location for the town centre.

Probably reflected in the price, but the hotel generally looked in some need of cosmetic attention. Soft, lumpy beds could also do with replacing. A variety of teas would be nice at breakfast too.

Like us all it showed signs of its age but I can't fault the cleanliness of the establishment or the attitude of the staff, who were friendly, polite and helpful. I would certainly be happy to stay there again." (99799224)
