"In general I enjoyed my stay. The therapy unit and leisure centre were very good. The pool changing rooms would benefit from a spin dryer for swimwear." (97761815)

decor not bad, room quite spacious and bathroom well-appointed.

general cleanliness slightly lacking. shower was a little grubby and the odd hair adhering to the walls.

    excellently presented and comfortable,

everything about our accommodation was first class

  • 8/10 Anonymous ( Mature couple)

    on  July 7, 2007

"The hotel provided a good base from which to travel. We were satisfied with the accommodation. The breakfast was excellent, quick and well organised. Dinner was over-priced and the dining room almost empty on the one evening we ate in - probably a reflection of the prices. The young waitress should have been advised not to wear such a powerful perfume when serving dinner." (99267194)

The hotel was well presented and the staff capable and well motivated.

The bed was excruciatingly uncomfortable to me and it took two requests to get a supply of pillows to alleviate the problem.

"Our stay at the Rochestown was on the whole very pleasant. The hotel was in a good location had all the facilities you would expect in a hotel of its level. The food was excellent and apart from one contrary receptionist the staff were pleasant and helpful." (99253030)

    Clean rooms and bedlinen.

Curtain hanging off window, television not working

    big room, bathroom

no duvet on the bed just sheets and blanket

"Apart from the above everything was excellent." (99041733)

The hotel was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful.

We arrived after a flight. The room was extremely hot due to the central heating which could not be turned off until midnight as it was timed. This amount of heating was unecessary we felt at the end of May. However this has not put us off returning.

  • 10/10 Pat ( Group of adult friends)

from Limerick , IE  on  May 1, 2007

All staff we encountered were very helpful and appeared to be well trained. The breakfast was the best I experienced in a long time. Restaurant was well run with no waiting to be seated. Overall a good experience.

  • 5/10 Deirdre ( Solo business traveller)

    from Portlaoise , Ireland;IE  on  April 21, 2007

Leisure centre was lovely,Food was excellent.

My bedroom was no bigger than a shoebox, the bathroom was bibber than the bedroom and the decor was very dated. Was very disappointed.

  • 7/10 Blaithin ( Group of adult friends)

from Carlow , IE  on  April 20, 2007

The location of it is excellent

You arrive at what you think is the main entrance only to find that reception is at the other side, they have obvsiously built on over the years which means the layout is just ridiculous, the bedrooms and Conference rooms are all over the place - there's no fluidity to it.

  • 8/10 Allen ( Young couple)

    from Dublin 15 , IE  on  April 18, 2007

"Douglas has really nice little town centre within walking distance of the Hotel, nice places to shop, eat & get a drink. Its just a short Taxi ride from Cork City Centre." (99835700)

Very Good Breakfast, they even have a bottle of Cava open for Guests at Breakfast Time.

There is a Old & New Block of Accomodation, the standards in the New Block are excellent where I stayed, but the old block is just O.K.

"The Hotel seemed to be chiefly for Corporate meetings. We stayed 2 nights in order to visit family and friends. At breakfast on both mornings we had to ask to be provided with toast and coffee. We have spent time in many hotels over the years, but do not feel we experienced the extent of your 4* capacity." (3305090695)

  • 7/10 Fiona ( Solo business traveller)

    from Dublin 7 , Ireland;IE  on  August 2, 2006

"The view from my room was that of a housing estate. The accommodation was tight in space with very little room between the bed and window. I thought I had left the kitchen behind however I had to look at an ironboard and iron mounted to the wall fixed (UGLY). I looked everywhere for a TV. I went to the desk and enquired. They insisted my room had a TV. I went back and yes, they were right, a tiny portable mounted beneath the ceiling. I expect this in a 2 star, max 3 star hotel. I expect to have a reasonable TV at eye level. There was only 4 milk UHT cartons. This would give me one cup of tea. No Fridge. The porter on the desk kindly gave me a small jug of milk, however the heat ensured this would have gone off pretty quickly. I definitely feel a small fridge is in order. The furniture was basic, cheap and old. The side table was badly needing varnish, chipped and cheap looking. the table tops had all been painted cream. Again, rather than painting up, replace, not that much money and worth the reputation of a supposedly 4 star hotel. had allThe bathroom was basic and could definitely have done with more towels. I think this hotel is getting away with murder interms of 4 star status. I have stayed in better Comfort Inns. the staff were generally OK. I had lunch in the bar. There was old brown lettuce in my salad. the first day the waiter brought my bill to my table. The next day when i asked a waitress for the bill she was hassled and told me to go to the counter myself and pay. brown bread for breakfast was none other than good old Mccambridges. It should at least be proper homemade brown soda. very dissappointing. Six years ago I attended a wedding in this hotel. I thought it was lovely. I would never stay here again." (3305100406)

Nothing in particular. The white sheets were crisp and clean.

"The hotel was in a good location with friendly, informative staff. The room was quite permeable to noise, but was big and clean. More information could have been provided on the website concerning opening hours of the leisure centre and bar/restaurant etc. The information provided at the hotel was very informative." (3304591212)

The leisure facilities were good and well kept, with good opening hours. My room was big and clean.

The room was noisy - a lot of overhead noise of people walking, plus people walking in the corridor.

    The leisure centre facilities.

A noisy water pump near our room. Some repairs needed in the bathroom to maintain its 4 star rating. Massages booked up for 4 days so impossible for short stay visitors.
