"We booked this hotel because we were to attend a function in Harrogate and the Best Western proved to be very conveniently located. It was easy to find and a short walk from the middle of the town. The room was comfortable and had in it everything we would have expected. It was also quiet which we consider to be an imporatnt feature in a hotel stay. The staff were helpful and pleasant and we would recommend this particular hotel. We did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment on that aspect." (97651631)
The location and external appearance of the hotel.
The location of the restaurant did not appeal to us, a bit public as if you would be eating in the foyer.

"Excellent situation for access to town and other amenities. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant and brassiere were also very good. The only fault we (two couples) had was the exhorbitant price of drinks at the in house bar - all hotel bars are expensive but the drinks here were really over priced. Everything else was spot on and we would still use the hotel again despite this fault." (97724883)

"hotel ideally located for town centre but makes you feel as though you are staying in the countryside because of the open aspect at the front of the hotel." (97344124)
the size of the room was larger than expected.Beds very comfy. Lovely view from our room located at the front of hotel
A small fridge would have been useful

"Lovely hotel in an excellent location, less than 10 minutes walk from the city centre, and overlooking open park land. Although it is on a main road and we were in a room at the front, we were not troubled by traffic noise even with the window open. Even a wedding party in the reception rooms could not be heard. Staff were helpful & courteous. Breakfast was served in a lovely bright, sunny room and was good, if a little expensive." (97861701)
Excellent large room with a lovely big comfy bed & a window overlooking the park
Breakfast was quite expensive, but no more so than any other 3*

"As above" (107221579)
Convenient location. Interconnecting rooms that were very useful for family with young children. Quiet with friendly helpful staff
Tired appearance. Room were uncomfortably hot and it was very overpriced for what it was. It may have once been a four star hotel but it isn't now.

"Overall, we had an enjoyable stay though we didn't use any of the facilities in the hotel (bar, restaurant) so our experience was rather limited" (97417854)
Location of hotel, comfortable albeit small (standard) room, large bathroom
Staff could be a little more friendly and helpful

"The hotel staff put themselves out to do anything they could to make the stay comfortable. The only problem was my room television broke down but between my reporting it, having breakfast and returning, the housekee4per had replaced it. Good service al round, I am a NVQ assessor in the licensed trade and I could find no fault with the service I received, well done to all." (97468136)
Could not fault anything

"Very good." (97303433)
Great value, very clean overall, functional, loved the duvet
pillows need replacing, extremely uncomfortable. TV lower than height of bed so had to put on side table to watch. No spare pillows, no spare blanket, only one shower wash. Looked as if our room was for single occupant.

"Breakfast and staff level of service in bar and restaurant was satisfactory." (97629538)
Central location to Harrogate, bar staff friendly and helpful. Room comfortable.
I booked a twin room online 6 weeks prior to visit but no twin rooms were available at check-in. I was initially offered the honeymoon suite with a put-up bed for my son. This I rejected and requested reception find me another hotel. I was then offered a single room and the honeymoon suite for the same price as a twin, which I accepted. The toilet in the suite did not flush properley and I reported this to reception after the first night but still was not fixed at check-out on day 2 of our stay. There was no hot water in the hotel on the 2nd day.

"The hotel was clean and the room was a fair size. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. It was suitable for my one night's stay and good location for the conference centre." (99682142)
Location was good for the conference centre and the reception staff were helpful and friendly.
The television reception was awful and the breakfast staff spoke very little English so I had to ask 3 different people for some sugar to put on my cornflakes. One suggested I added a sugar cube.

"This was a really good hotel for the money. We paid £59 for a one night stay. Staff were friendly and efficient and the hotel was very quiet and comfortable." (99664498)
Friendly helpful staff. Very quiet rooms, ample parking.
Bit further out of town than some other hotels but still not too far. Toilet had flushing problems and was cracked in places (though it had been repaired).

"Easy, straightforward, pleasant staff, lovely hotel, nice large clean rooms, only problem was that the details led me to believe we were in the centre of Harrogate and we were further out than expected so no walking into town with ease." (97496340)

Further out of town than the details led me to believe.

"This hotel is well located for road access and within a short walking distance of the town centre. Both private and public facilities are first class. The view over the gardens and adjacent parkland are very therapeutic. Car parking is superb. All the staff encountered were polite and helpful. Breakfast is served in an attractive restaurant area and was more than adequate in both quality and choice. The only minor blemish was the queue for checking out on Sunday morning." (99280184)
Clean, airy and well equipped bedrooms. Ample car parking. Public facilities first class. Staff very helpful.

spacious and clean. excellent meal in brasserie and lovely staff
very loud extractor fans on ground floor one floor down from my room. these kept me awake and I left the hotel more tired than when I had arrived. that was not good enough. I would stay again if I could have a guarantee of a quiet room.

"This is a good well managed hotel with friendly staff and within comfortable strolling distance of the town centre, but set well back from the road, with a large and pleasant front garden and convenient parking. The building is impressive traditional Victorian architecture, yet the hotel is unpretentious and friendly. The hotel is easy to find, close to the roundabout off the Wetherby Road." (99909849)
A good sized room with large opening sash windows and a view over the park. A nice big comfortable bed.

"Our experience with reception staff and the standard of our room was good. The general appearance of the hotel is excellent. We were disappointed with the service and the main course in the Brasserie. We commented to our waiter that we were not impressed with the main course. He said he would tell the chef and that was the last we heard. We arrived at breakfast and although staff were present in the breakfast room no one greeted us or showed us to a table. Our only staff contact was to enquire whether we would like tea or coffee. Not very impressive. No one appeared to be in charge either in the evening or at breakfast. A delightful hotel let down by poor management and apparent lack of staff training." (99287151)

"Busy Hotel - A bit impersonal - Nice enough room - Soap dispenser had not worked in months & was broken. Breakfast was to be commended - Good food nicely presented. The Restraurant was a disaster -Limited & Poor choice of menu the same listing on consecutive nights, obliged us to move on elswhere for our second night. The food was badly cooked - Cold wet rice & we think Chef forgot the Mushroom in the Rissotto. To charge extra for every serving of vegetable after paying 20 pounds for a main course was quite unacceptable" (99451917)
Good location reasonably priced room
Poor restraurant - Poor choice of menu - Badly cooked food - Scant regard to our compaint.

"Waffer thin walls and very noisy next door guests. No answer from reception area at 12.30 when ringing to complain about the noise, was extremely frustrating. No porter help and poor access from the rear car park area for guests, like myself, with a great deal of luggage. No breakfast included in the price either. Attention to cleanliness was overlooked a little also. I would have been more comfortable and had more sleep for that price in an upmarket bed and breakfast. In summation - overpriced for the service and facilities." (97743691)
Sheets and Bed were clean.
No breakfast with the price. Overprices for the facilities and attention to guests conveniences. Drainage in the sink was poor, when I took out the plug a huge amount of hair was attached to the underneath.

Hotel has a lot of character as a listed building and a lot of old charm about the place.

"Generally ok, but the hotel does not radiate comfort, and a cold room is totally unacceptable (The window in our room was jammed open - freezing in March). Front desk failed to process an order for a taxi causing lateness. Whilst the staff were exceptionally plesant, I felt the staffing was either insufficient or poorly managed. Needs improving, especially for party conference trade. Hotel is very large (at least in terms of bedrooms) so needs to compete with popular hotels in central harrogate - it felt almost empty at busy conference weekend." (99198054)
Good breakfast (though slow service). A pleasant, quite feel but see comments below.
The window in our room was jammed open! Therefore very cold in march. Completely unacceptable.
