"Would not stay here again., Poor quality rooms in need of refurbishment and not cheap. Inadequate supervision of hotel in nighttime that allows guests to be disturbed. Dingy reception area. This hotel should be called the Popes GROTTY not grotto" (108002469)

Good ambience in public bar but very bare board. If you dont care much about quality for a hundred pounds this hotel is better than a hostel

Being woken at 3am by room service in error. All night party in adjoining guest rooms fuelled by room service (ends at 5.30) involves 8 people on a thursday night. CUT SHORT HOTEL STAY BECAUSE OF THIS .Food quality poor really a upmarket cafe menu not a restaraunt. Brewery style pub hotel. Not my idea of a 3 star. stains on room carpet.Bed the worst i have ever slept in , the whole place was downbeat and needs upgrading or the price needs lowering

Our twin room was very spacious and had room for one or even two more beds. Several tea bags on the tea tray, better than some hotels.

Shower was lukewarm, even when full on. Tables in the bar at breakfast felt sticky to the touch.

"River view was a bit of a stretch - no mention of the busy road. When one hears river view it conveys peace and tranquillity (not the case here). Access to public transport was excllent and we loved the fact tha we could park, then for 3 days not use the car, instead either using bus or walking. Kew Gardens is accessible on foot, and Richmond even moreso. Breakfast was very good." (97476217)

Liked the space in the room, plenty of fresh air (ie no air conditioning!)Pleasant room, good standard on the whole.Proximity to Thames tourist spots excellent.

Close ot main road so had to be selective regarding which windows to leave open at night. Found the mattress a bit poor for two (ie the lighter person ends up rolling towards the middle)

  • 9/10 John ( Solo business traveller)

    clean, functional and well maintained

no decent chair to sit in in the room.

  • 8/10 Deana ( Mature couple)

    from Chorleywood , United Kingdom;GB  on  July 4, 2007

We chose the hotel because it was within easy walking distance of Twickenham Stadium. It took us about 20 mins (a slow stroll) and little bit longer on the way back - just right. It was the best thing we could have done. We had no worries about waiting for trains or trying to drive home. The next morning we had a nice breakfast and then drove home.

There was no food available after 10.30 - we could've done with a sandwich or light snack being available as we did not get anything on our walk back.

"no complaints whatsover, easy parking, opposite the thames so could go for walk. Very close to town centre and shops. was told it was ten minute walk to twickenham rugby stadium but is in fact 30 minute walk! Pub/restaurant attached served superb food for evening meal and breckfast (which was included in the price, and they allowed us to order whatever we wanted). overall very good standards of room etc for good price and very helpful and friendly staff" (99942362)

room was clean and tidy, of a good size, as it was bad weather it was good to control own heating. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant attached served lovely food - good value for money would def use again

  • 10/10 Diane ( Group of adult friends)

from Penzance , GB  on  April 19, 2007

The hotel asccommodation was first class and we were very close to Twickenham rugby ground which was the purpose of our visit. The rooms were excellent and also the staff were very helpful.

The only dislike I had was when using the shower the bottom of the bath was very slippery as it didn't have a bath mat in the bath. Older people might find it very dangerous and could easily slip;.

"I would recommend this hotel because - the staff were excellent, from prior to arrival where they responded quickly and politely to emails, through to the hotel staff being friendly and warm and the bar and restaurant staff being very accomodating and provided a high level of service. As well as this the hotel is within walking distance of the town centre (and the stadium for those of you thinking of going to Twickenham) and is across the road from the river. The hotel itself is clean and well presented and is attached to the bar and restaurant which offers a good selection of food and a great breakfast! I would recommend the upgraded rooms as we chose the exec double. We will be back" (3305468142)

Worth the extra £20 for a balcony room, as we could cool down out there after our hectic day. Our room and the entire hotel were spotlessly clean. The food was very tasty, and the breakfast was very filling. Will certainly stay here again if I am in the area." (3305016945)
