"The Hotel was very well kept and the staff were friendly and helpful. my only criticisms were that we were distured by the dripping drain from an upstairs room and as our room was at the front the road noise was a bit intrusive." (3305318155)

"All I can say is that we had a great weekend at the Charleville and will definitely go back there. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice and quick service. We even had a continental breakfast on the last morning (we left the hotel at 6.45 a.m. and the night porter made our breakfast for us!)." (3305380051)
Clean, comfortable and warm. Staff were very helpful and friendly, couldn't fault it at all

"The hotel is easy to find, close to the centre (you can walk or take a bus nr.10) in a quiet residential part of Dublin. Rooms are clean, comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. Concerning food, we had only a breakfast, but very good. If I go to Dublin next time and if I would not like to stay directly in the city center - I will book the Charleville Lodge again without any hesitation." (3305038332)
The hotel is only 15min. walk away from the city center. It is very clean inside, with a friendly and helpful staff.
There is no smoking area inside the hotel. There could be more TV programmes on room TV.

"The Charleville Lodge is of a decent quality for the amount of money per night. However, I do not think I would stay here again. Even though the rooms were clean, the breakfast quite good, and the premises attractive, the distance to the city centre was a very long walk--at least 30 minutes at a brisk pace. At night the front bedrooms were noisy with passing traffic and the neighborhood in general was a bit run-down and covered with trash. The bed I slept in was not very comfortable--it was old and I could feel the springs through the mattress. We had inconsistent service from the front desk staff--some were helpful, some were not as helpful as they could have been." (3304184819)
The food was good and there was free Internet access. The rooms were clean and appliances in good working order. The premises were attractive.
Our room faced the front street which was quite noisy with traffic most of the night. The beds were not very comfortable as you could feel the springs through the mattress. On the morning we were to leave their was a taxi strike going on in the city, but the front desk clerk would not even try to get us a taxi. We did get a taxi on our own and found out that only some of the taxi companies were on strike. We thought the clerk could have been more aggressive about helping us get a taxi. Also, the ad for this lodging claimed that it was only a 15 minute walk to the city centre when it was in fact twice that far if not more.

"This was one of the nicer B&B's I stayed in while in Ireland. Good value for the money and a great breakfast the next day." (3304508759)
The rooms were lovely boutique style, well decorated and very clean.
The location was a bit difficult to find my first night in Dublin. They forgot a critical wakeup call when I had an early flight to meet. Thank heavens I woke up at 5:00 a.m. on my own.

"The historic significance of the building was a deciding factor in choosing this hotel. Also, the free parking and the proximity to the downtown area were a definite plus. We were able to take a bus and get downtown in about 10 minutes. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff enhanced our visit. We were late arrivals on our first night there, and we were made to feel welcomed. The decor of the public areas was very lovely, and the room itself was nice, too." (3304472258)

This Hotel was one of the most Friendly I have stayed in, the roos were clean and the Bed was most comfortable with excellent Pillows.
The shower cubicle tiles were poor and required regroutingt, this did somewhat spoil the experience of the excellent room accomodation and furnishings.

The location of the hotel
When arriving at the hotel the receptioist should be more customer friendly, first impressions count, my mothers room did not have a remote control and having difficulty walking she had difficulty changing cnannels.

"One of our best experiences. We booked other stays using activehotels.com (one in Clifden, one in Sligo, and one in Limerick). Of those we booked, this was the best value: the others were more upscale, but considerably overpriced when compared to the Charlville. The question below--would you book online again--I would for this hotel but not for the others. If we return to Ireland, we would try to stay in the Charlville and take our chances finding B&Bs as we travel the rest of the time." (2142988)

"The only downside of this hotel is the distance from the city centre. The bus service nearby was excellent and taxis are available day and night from the city, so to be fair this was a minor problem (the extra cost was probably equalled by the tarrif being less than the central hotels)." (2427227)
The room was clean and cosy with reasonable facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and service was very good. Overall we were very happy with our stay.
The bed was adequate but not overly comfortable.

"The stay was excellent as far as we were concerned. We went for a specific event and were determined to make the most of it. The event was well outside the City but there seemed to be a lack of knowledge of the event itself within the hotel. It didn't take long to find the relevant information and didn't spoil our stay. Please be aware that the hotel is not far from a major sports ground that hosts large events with big crowds." (2299137)
It was out of the main city centre away from the noise and crowds, but within walking distance, for us at least. Bus stops outside the hotel for the city centre. The staff were very friendly and chatty and nothing appeared to be too much trouble for them.
Not a lot to be honest. If you want luxury then pay luxury prices, if you want comfortable rooms and friendly staff look no further.

"Adequate hotel. Nothing outstanding which would make me want to return as the hotel is a fair distance from the city centre. Good bus service though, so I would consider returning to this hotel again. Some hotels in the city centre are not much more expensive so these may be my preferred option in the future." (1952913)
friendly staff, clean hotel
