"clean & tide hotel - room a bit cramped for a superior grade room. Noisy street and traffic during the night" (97005182)
The location was ideal
For a 'superior' room it was quite cramped - not value for money

"Reception phoned and snapped at us, over the steam from the shower, setting of the smoke alarm, and told us to keep the bathroom door shut, would have been better if we were advised this at time of checkin, we could have been told in a more friendly manner" (97144577)
Clean
No room servise after 9pm, and a really nosiy generator outside our window

"Overall everything was fine as we only used the hotel as a base. We didn't eat in the bar, so cannot comment on food. Our main problem was that despite it being a Saturday morning we were woken early by building work noise close by, which was unfortunate" (99195516)
The room was excelllent value for central london and the location was very good.
Although the staff were friendly and welcoming the booking in and booking out was tedious, we were asked the same question several times, and the whole process took ages. Better staff training would lead to greater efficiency.

"We booked the room on a Saturday morning and arrived in the afternoon, so there was no card ready for us to sign when we booked in. The receptionist said it could be done later, or as she had all the details from online said it could be done when checking out. We were exhausted when we got back and decided to take her advice and do it in the morning. We got called at 10.30pm and got woken up. Then the receptionist said we could do it in the morning, which was pointless to call! This spoiled a near perfect stay." (99306054)
It was clean, compact and orderly. The bed was comfy, the shower hot and had all we needed!
Getting a call at 10.30 pm from reception.

"I requested a quiet, inward facing room, but this request was not fulfilled nor even acknowledged. Though the location can hardly be beat (1 block from Westminster Abbey), I would choose to stay elsewhere in the future." (99562159)
Great location.
Single biggest problem was the noisiness of the hotel itself. The floors were very creaky, and the door to the stairwell slammed loudly and shook our bed. Mattress was uncomfortable, and decor was shabby.

"We went to celebrate new year and this is a perfect location for that A five min walk to Big Ben and the embankment, 15 mins to Trafalger square. Also it is walking distance to all the traditional tourist attractions, the tube is just up the road if you want to go further. The rooms were clean and a good size. The pub sold pretty standard pub food but the prices were reasonable. All in all the perfect hotel for a weekend in London. The staff were friendly and helpfull. We will definatly stay at this hotel again." (3304278785)

"We were both very happy with the hotel. It was a little noisy on the first night (Friday), due to traffic and the lack of double glazing (possible incusion in future improvements). Hot water was VERY hot and there should have been a warning to that effect. The reception lady was fantastic, talkative, helpful and very efficent. We were able to leave our luggage for the last day although we had checked out securely at the hotel whilst we continued to sight see. Our only complaint was with the breakfast arrangments, very crowded, lack of fresh bread and croissants and delays in getting served. If the hotel is going to offer continental breakfast, then there should be plenty on offer for all guests. Five croissants with at least seven guests waiting is not good service." (99218688)
Location was excellent, close to and easily accessable to main attractions. V close to underground station.

"The staff is very nice and extremely helpful. The lobby has brochures on local attractions and they have a tube map available to take with you. The breakfast is nice. It includes pastries, toast with assorted jams, cereals, juice, milk, coffee, cheeses, and fruit. We had a very pleasant 3 nights at the hotel and can't really complain about anything. The ONLY thing negative we could find is that the room is a little small as is the elevator. Otherwise we had a very pleasant stay." (3304627113)
The location is very good, it is right near a tube stop and near some tourist attractions. The room accomodations were very nice and the included breakfast was just right.
The elevator was small.

"Fantastic location - 2 minutes walk from St James Park tube - makes it easy to visit popular London locations. Easy walking distance to Westminster Bridge, the London Eye, Soho, Convent Garden, Tate Modern, Buckingham Palace and the parks. Some staff were better informed than others - eg one person was unsure about Thames city cruises timetables, whereas another was able to print off a timetable from the internet straight away for us. This was our third stay at the Sanctuary House, and it is our first choice of hotel whenever we visit London." (3304317759)
Central location, comfortable large bed, excellent airconditioning (we were staying during a heatwave) and power shower.
Nothing.

For London we thought the price and location represented outstanding value. We were pleased with the accommodations.
It was all pretty good. With a few modest upgrades, it could be a very swank accommodation.

"Overall our experience at the hotel was very good, rooms were well decorated and very clean. Staff where very helpful. Cot available on request, but unfortuantely there was no high chair available for our daughter in the restuarant/bar area which made it a bit harder to feed our child breakfast and evening meal as she is only 14 months and therefore needs restraints. Apart from this it was an excellant hotel." (2532689)

"Overall experience good, but too pricy for a small room in an, although refurbished, old house, with poor choice of continental breakfast menu. Central location in town is great plus." (3304489365)
Excellent location of the hotel, cleanliness, friendly staff
Small room, not firm floor (wooden floor), poor breakfast, eating in a tobacco-smelling room (it serves as a pub also)

"Great location and value for money for a traveller who wants a hotel close to historical London. Food prices seemed very reasonable and area was quiet" (3304028352)
The location was very good, close to underground station. Waiting staff were friendly
Reception staff were abrupt particularly on checking out.Express checkout form was posted through the door at 3am in morning and I still had to pay on departure so that was pointless.Booking stated twin rooms and I was put in a double, got moved into a twin room which was next to a generator/fan which made noise all night which disturbed the sleep of my room-mate

"the staff was very helpful, as we had some requests out of the ordinary, like an extension cord for my overnight oxygen source. our room would not lock one night, and it was attended to right away. they even allowed us to stay in the room for an hour after we checked out, plus let us store our luggage at the desk. this is despite the fact that we were told it was not possible to stay later. I would definitely recommend this hotel especially for the price and location to the tube at St. James." (2054072)
very clean and comfortable, room large enough by european standards, very convenient to the tube
pub downstairs was too smoky to eat in, could have used some more space in the bathroom to put our things

"Generally excellent and a superb location. Would certainly book again but would prefer to have known that the hotel was over a pub. As we were on the top floor it didn't matter at all but maybe if we were on a lower floor the noise may have been a nuisance. A note in the guest pack informing people that drinks were not available after 11 pm would be useful. We returned from a local concert at around 11:15 and would have enjoyed a nightcap. Had we known drinks were not available we would have purchased earlier elsewhere. Otherwise the hotel can't be faulted." (1564892)

No alcoholic drinks after 11 pm. Complimentary biscuits and water not replenished.

"We were under the impression from the internet that our room would have a hide a bed in the couch. Our room did not have a couch or hide a bed. But, we managed. The room was quiet. There also was a mix up in the continental breakfast, we were told at the front desk that we would get a free continental breakfast on Sat and Sun, but we were charged for it. Overall, our stay was nice and we would stay there again." (1615438)
