The room had some character and did not feel like a box.

I had to amend my booking the day before and the staff were very helpful in doing this for me.
They room would have benefited from more lighting and plug sockets, had to unplug kettle to use hair straighteners.

"The hotel needed a map of the traffic island as it was difficult to find the correct exit road especially in heavy traffic." (3304913531)
It was comfortable and adequate for an qvernight stay. The breakfast was excellent.
The room was quite dark due to the positioning of the window and there was a smell of stale water every time the wash basin was used

"I have been in a number of Hioliday Inns throughout North America and this is the best I have stayed in. The facilities provided were equa, if not better, than more expensive hotels. Premier and Travelodge were more expensive too!! I will certainly be recommending your hotel and will stay there again if I am in the area." (3304919924)
Clean, well equipped rooms. Excellent continental breakfast. Friendly staff. Bed comfortable.

"All in all a very pleasant stay, staff were pleasant and met any requests that you needed, good parking facilities and considering it was extremely busy at the hotel" (3304206929)
Beds were very comfortable and if you needed anything such as extra bedding they were very helpful
Could do with some things like extra sugar and teabags and milk for teas and coffees in the room and also more towels as there was a minimal amount for a family

"More clarity regarding eating facilities." (3304123814)
Clean modern lines. Clever dual use of bathroom door.
Shower better than most 3 star hotels, temperature control could be less sticky. There is a need for an assistance handle in the toilet

"We were visiting friends from Dudley who we had met on our Summer Holiday in Cyprus. I looked on line for Hotels in that area, and compared to a lot of other Hotels the Holiday Express was one of the cheapest with very good facilities. I had already stayed at a Holiday Inn when I attended my friends Wedding in September at Guildford and was also very impressed with this, so decided to book it. We arrived Friday night and left Sunday Morning and the staff at reception were both very friendly and efficient. This Hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere especially at Breakfast Time when you can help yourself to as much Coffee and Continental Breakfast as you require and can sit and read the morning papers whilst eating. Overall the weekend break was very enjoyable and when we visit our friends again I will certainly be coming back to this Hoel." (3304002365)
Spacious room with every facility catered for. Very comfortable bed and the cofee making facilities were very welcome first thing in morning.

"When booking, I was given the choice of smoking or non-smoking, would have been far better to know the hotel was non-smoking in the first place. Perhaps the bulk of visitors are business-orientated, but even still, would have been nice to know of other places in the vicinity, ie. Pub next door, 10-pin bowling nearby etc." (2761152)
The room was very clean and the hotel was surprisingly quiet
The breakfast buffet was appalling, had to hunt for a clean cup, but then there were no teaspoons. Bread/roll selection was poor. Breakfast area not large enough for the amount of people staying.

"The microwave (near the lift area) is too out of the way from the food area of the restaurant. It may be of a haphazard, where visitors come and go in the reception area and people carrying hot food from the microware cross path with people in the reception area. But overall, I found the hotel very nice and convenient from M5 and M6 motorway, and have helpful staff." (2636563)
Accommodation rooms are kept very clean with comfortable beds, well designed with convenient accessories and easy access to reception area of the hotel. Continental breakfast is well provided for, and staffs are very helpful.
The hotel could provide better sign post entrance and exit signs which needs to be more visual for visitors at the start of the drive in and when exiting from the car park. The present entrance sign is seen after turning into the driveway near some bushes, and there are no exit sign from the car park indication to turn left or right to exit.

Excellent value for money, very clean and tidy.
After checking in, the key card didnt open the room door. Had to return to the reception another twice before getting one that worked. No soap in the dispenser by the shower. Breakfast team understaffed.

"The staff were friendly and knowledgeable from start to finish and the hotel was in a very good condition. I expected the room to be smaller and was suprised at the cleanliness and size of the room considering the price of the stay. The hotel provided an excellent base for our overnight stay in Birmingham." (2566154)
It was clean and tidy, had good facilities and was better than i expected for the price

"I booked 2 Double rooms and a Twin, and got 2 Twins and a Double. The reference number given by Active Hotels did not match the one the hotel had for us so caused the check-in process to be very drawn out, as they were not aware I wanted 3 rooms." (2568891)
The room was very clean and spacious
Check-in could be improved

"My wife and I use hotels frequently, but do not spend much time in them. To us they are places to sleep and hang our clothes; therefore all we require is a clean, comfortable and quiet room. The Holiday Inn Express at Oldbury provides all this plus it is close to junction 2 of the M5. We stayed there because we were going to a party locally, but it is quite handy for the Merry Hill Shopping Centre, Black Country Museum and many other local attractions if you are that way inclined." (2504244)
Easy to get to, plenty of free parking, security at night appeared to be good, breakfast served to 11:00 on Saturdays and Sundays and sound proofing good.
Very hot in the room with no air conditioning and if the window was opened there was a great deal of traffice noise from the motorway and local traffic.

"I would like explained better the payment process when booking online, this was confusing on checkout. Better knowledge of staff of local events and places to eat etc. The signpost to the entrance to the hotel should be seen from the motorway more easily. Overall though we had a nice quiet stay and would come again." (1370044)
excellent breakfast
Local staff knowledge.

"very pleasant and would stay there again." (107188839)
value for money is excellent and staff were really pleasant.a lot better than the last time we stayed there!!
i booked a disabled room with a double bed- ended up with a twin room and a near to a walk in shower as you can get,at least i didn't have to climb over a bath to have a shower!the staff gave us 4 chocolate bars and a couple of drinks for giving us the wrong room, which we found acceptable.the twin beds were a bit difficult for me,as i am disabled.we could have done with a couple've biscuits in the room.
