"Didn't realise that when I gave my card details over the internet it was only to secure the reservation so when the hotel asked for payment initially though I was paying twice, however reassured by lovely young lady in reception and soon sorted out. Also no one informed us that they stop serving meals (accept for room service) at 9pm. following our arrival we went out for a walk arriving back to be told meals finished at 9pm. but no major upset ate elsewhere." Very helpfull young lady on reception.
Could have been more bathroom accessories - no shower cap or shampoo/shower gells etc.

"In general stay was good, however there were a few small issues which I would have not expected to experience from a top hotel!" (99917452)
Staff were very helpful & efficient
No toiletries in bathroom, evening meal was not very tasteful, not all food on the menu was available. Was not informed that Spa had to be booked in advance.

"The only complaint I have is about the food in Quinns Bar, which was totally inadequate and in fact one meal was sent back. This was disappointing as we had been travelling all day to get to Bray. The final day breakfast was also not very good although the other days had been ok." (3305197176)
It was comfortable
Outlook from window. Noise from boiler nearby

"We have stayed in this hotel several times before and knew what to expect. Considering it is an old building there has been considerable makeover - all to the good. We already knew some of the rooms can be small, but on this ocassion we were allocated a fairly spacious romm - I hope it was because we booked through Activehotels. We had requested a non-smoking room, and although it is not guaranteed, we thought the hotel should have had more rooms non-smoking,especially with Ireland's new smoking regulations, but it didn't spoil our stay." "My overall experience was that the Hotel was adequate and for us good value for money. My comments on the bath may be superseded because rooms nearby were being upgraded so maybe this bath will get a makeover. WiFi is being made available, I was probably the first user but it does cost extra and I think this should be offered as a benefit to guests and may persuade a business traveller to stay." (3304583801)
Room size was good and pleasantly furnished.
Bath was scruffy, long walk from car park with bags, unable to drop off at front entrance due to cars parked, mostly just blocking the entrance, and as there is a very narrow road it was impossible to stop for a moment. Car park was independantly operated and we were intially told there was definitely no possibility of parking even though we requested it when booking.

"We enjoyed our stay at the royal hotel very much apart from the dining experience on our first night in Bray. On 30th March we chose the early-bird menu in the dining room with a choice of three for starter, main course and dessert. I chose Shepherd's Pie (rarely seen on this type of menu) because I thought it had to be good especially as the chef had his name plastered on the top of the menu. It was served up in a disgusting fashion. The shepherd's pie had been shovelled on to the plate, some mashed potato had been added. It was dry and there was no additional gravy. The side vegetables were carrots. unhealthy looking parsnips and would you believe more mashed potato. My wife had chosen some kind of beef dish which was also very unappetising-looking. My sweet was sherry trifle which the chef had added his own inimitable style of three chocolate buttons. The only decent thing about the meal was the half-bottle of wine. Fifty euros for two on the early bird menu sounded great but not at this hotel. But the accommodation, staff and bar were excellent and we would probably visit again but not to dine alas." (3304112215)
Our room was excellent -- cleanliness brilliant.
Without doubt the dining facilities. We were looking forward to five nights taking dinner at the hotel but after the first awful experience we dined outside the hotel for the remainder of our visit.

"It seemed strange to me that the room was of high quality, yet there were no toiletries (apart from liquid soap dispenser in shower. Obviously, I did have my own soap etc., but it is normalin hotels for some toiletries to be provided. Poor picture on TV not a great problem, but would have been if I had wished to remain in my room for the evening." (3304729159)
It was clean and the beds were very comfortable.
Poor TV picture. Lack of toiletries in bathroom.

Check-in and bar staff very helpful and friendly
Queuing for Breakfast was a little tedious. Suspect we arrived at the same time as a coach party.

"I would have liked to have known that the hotel was on a main road." (3304248001)
The porter was very polite
The hotel was located on a mian road and we were facing it. We arrived in plenty of time for dinner but none was served to us altough we asked. The hotel wasn't extremly clean, the pillows were rock hard and the blankets were itchy. We also had to pay extra for our parking - a car park that we were given wrong directons to.

"On arrival we were allocated a room at the rear of the hotel overlooking a yard. This area was very noisy and we were unable to open the windows as a result. The weather was very warm and the room was very uncomfortable as a result. We were given a completly different room for our 2nd nights stay, and while this room was larger and cooler than the first, it still did not have any bath sheets or soap." (3304623586)
Very helpful and pleasant staff.
Lack of bath sheets, and only 1 soap/ shampoo dispenser located in the bath area.No soaps in the wash hand basins.

"The hotel appeared to be understaffed particularly in the bar.An evening meal was served in separate parts .The chips arrived about 10 minutes later than the steaks which had gone cold. Then the steaks were taken away to be re-heated whilst the chips started to go cold. Two other diners who arrived after we were ready to give our order finished their cooked meal & were leaving before we were able to start our steaks. The young waitress was very apologetic & we do not in any way hold her responsible The problem appeared to be in the kitchen. On another evening in the restaurant we were given 2 menus between 7 diners,I personally went up to the counter & got hold of a further few menus so that we could order. In addition the service at the bar for drinks was very slow due it appeared to under staffing with the bar person missing from behind the bar and an accumulation of dirty glasses on the bar due to a shortage of staff." (3304343807)
The room was clean & comfortable & the leisure facilities were very good.

"Excellent expect for breakfast staff. Maybe the hotel could list the times of its classes in the leisure centre as there was a very loud aqua aerobics class in progressive when we were using it. But thats it good hotel. Lovely room lovely stay. Lovely helpful staff." (3304021737)
It was clean and the view was lovely. Most of the staff very helpful
I found the breakfast staff rude. We arrive 20 mins before it finsihed and they didn't offer us the irish breakfast just tea and toast. It wasn't until we asked that they begrudingly got a rather over cooked breakfast. I believe they just wanted to leave after their shift. They had cleared away all the cereals etc. also. I was disappointed as up to this point it had been an excellent stay.

Value for money, size of room, cleanliness, can I also add that the staff were all excellant!!
While we were there maintenance work on some rooms was taking place I apprieciate that this was necessary but as a guest in the hotel I found it a bit distressing to have hammerng and drilling sounds from 8am to 6pm each day!!

"Overall very nice staff. If there busy no chance of getting room service. That was my experience anyway.Generally very clean maids very good one of the better hotels i have stayed in in ireland.Good value for money and also a hairdryer in the room which not many have.Would rec it to anyone who does not want room service." (2751362)
The staff are friendly, some of the rooms need modernising but the last time i stayed the room had been decorated and it was lovely think this time i was in one that was awaiting decorating
Room service and food, arrived at 9.45 and was told food stopped been served at 9.30.Asked if i could get a sandwich at bar said i suppose so asked for a cheese sandwich which i think was made one day earlier.Think room sevice menu could do with updating not much on it not very good if you are a lone traveller

"Pleasant, comfortable hotel. Would have preferred cost of parking to be included in price or at a greatly reduced rate as staying at hotel. Limited choice for vegetarians at breakfast - offered beans/mushrooms - however, not a major issue. Overall a very good quality hotel, with excellent staff ensuring a very pleasant stay." (1152520)
Friendly, helpful staff. Good size bedroom. Good facilities, eg bar, restaurant, leisure.
Parking quite expensive for 6 days.

"This hotel is well situated for public transport and is about ten minutes walk from the DART station with trains every 15mins into Dublin City. It is also a good location to explore the local coastline and the Wicklow mountains. The staff are friendly and helpful and they serve a good breakfast. I stayed in a twin room which was clean and well equipped with a nice en-suite bathroom. All in all I found the Hotel to be good value for money and an excellent location for exploring all that Dublin has to offer." (97284566)
Good facilities (full size iron and ironing board came in handy!. Well located for public transport and sightseeing and a good breakfast!
The level of enterainment offered on TV could be improved..Sky etc.
