"Choice of pub food or posh restaurant was nice. Enjoyed the fire blazing in the lounge area." (97357182)

Comfortable all round; mini hifi with CD player was a nice extra.

Plumbing of adjacent room noisy - had to crank up the volume to hear the TV.

"Good clean hotel, excellent facilities and good base for visiting West Coast attractions such as the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren Food good both in restaurant and bar, and nightly musical entertainment in the bar was good" (3304267783)

Good choice of food with restaurant and bar menus

    No problems experienced

"Although only one nights stay I would recommend staying longer. The friendly staff and the standard of accomodation where excellent." (97541609)

Great location and value for money on a main route for where I needed to be.

"I booked this hotel after searhing for quite a few over the internet. The staff initially seemed quite helpful and the room was functional and clean. The food was great and plentiful with pleasant service. The only negative was the morning of checking out when there was no water for the shower. I then decided to have a bath and again no water. When checking out, the staff had no idea what the total was that we owed and we had to tell them what we had utilised. Good job we were honest enough to point this out. Compensation for the poor water facilities may have helped a little. Would we stay again? Yes because the rates are reasonable and the food is good. The water problem was obviously a fault that I hope would not reoccur should we choose to stay again." (3305141394)

Good food, reasonable value for money, okay room

Running water facilities in our room was quite poor, staff seemed a little confused about certain things.

"The hotel seemed to be a bit further out of the town than I expected, although we did walk on a few occassions. Breakfast appeared to be included in the price, which was a surprise and a bonus. Hotel fixed us up with taxis very promptly. The hotel was quite lively, it is a popular place for weddings. The pro's outweighed the con's" (3304384435)

Value for money Bar & bar food

Some of the public areas were not spotlessly clean, particularly the toilets. Rooms were functional, if not luxurious

"It was a very inexpensive and overall a nice hotel." (3304178897)

The hotel setting is lovely with beautiful gardens.

The room was very compact and I found the hotel very noisy at night time.

"As we have stayed in the hotel many times before, we find it very comfortable and find the dining room very friendly and satisfactory." (3304420786)

Room very comfortable. It has all one needs.

The receiption area could be improved

"Pictures of rooms were a little misleading, as some of the rooms were quite 80's. Hotel facilities were very good and staff were very friendly. Overall excellent value for money was the real bonus." (3304113882)

Value for money and very friendly staff

    Modernise decor, fixtures & fittings.

"Only because my partner didn't want to make a fuss - but I wanted to complain to management about the condition of the room. We checked out very early on the second morning as the room didn't provide a pleasant environment to stay in. Also, breakfast could be skipped (everything on a steam table is not my idea of an enjoyable breakfast)" (3304328995)

Staff were very friendly and courteous

Romms need modernization - our room didn't look like it had been lived in for some time - there was actually mold on the ceiling.

    Friendly atmosphere, pleasant helpfull staff.

A little more choice on menu at dinner and variation on scrambled eggs at breakfast.

"Porter would have been useful especially being in a room so far away from the reception. Menu of the hotel restaurant wasn't very exciting - would have liked to have eaten there, but it offered nothing that we hadnt eaten before." (2817608)

Rooms were well decorated and spacious, has a restaurant and bar. Friendly staff, nice setting and peaceful.

A cooked breakfast should be cooked fresh and not left on a hot plate for 2-3 hours. We got a discount price for hotel so not huge problem, but If I was paying full price the breakfast would be less than satisfactoryl

"Ihad no real probelems with the hotel other than its a bit far out of town, mabie a shuttle bus at a perticular time during the evening, say 9 o clock, to bring people into town, might be an idea for the future. Again the water supply was contamanated, it would be an idea if there was a bottle of water left in the rooms for residents should this happen again, but overall it was a lovley hotel, plesent stay and i would go back again." (2789226)

I liked the room layout, the staff were very helpfull, the bar was quite good, overall very plesent stay.

The water supply to the rooms was not good, otherwise good.

"This hotel appears not to have undergone much refurbishment since the 1970's. The carpets and most things are pretty worn, in part not fully working, and not very clean. On the positive side the on-line cost is good for a hotel." (2744816)

    Overall cleanliness

  • 8/10 Maura (Young couple)

There was a very homely atmosphere. Staff were very good.

The decor could be more modern and the rooms more up to date.

"The hotel description was rather optimistic. The bathroom was clean and serviceable. The room appeared to be genuinely non-smoking. Along with the other 6 hotels we stayed in during our visit to Ireland, information was not automatically offered on local attractions, we had to ask for everything. But it was adequate for just a short 2 night stay." (2096863)

We found the hotel easily. The staff were friendly. We could walk into Ennis.

It was rather gloomily lit and the rooms could do with some refurbishment. Also more information on the area would have been helpful.

"Having spent two weeks traveling around Ireland we got to see many hotels & guesthouses. This hotel was let down by the small things. Carpets in the reception were worn & frayed. The furniture is worn and the bathrooms had a 70's feel to them. Chipped paint and dirty light fittings in public areas, even the sign outside the hotel, one of the first things you see upon arrival, was broken and tatty. For the amount they charge these things should not be allowed. Good points were the staff, friendly & helpfull. The food served was good with the breakfast being excelent. The bar/pub was good although the choice of live music acts needs to be reviewed..! The room was clean and neat and the beds were comfortable. In all, they need to drop their price by 20-25% or spend a little more on maintenance." (2537489)

    The breakfast

Fixtures & fittings. Carpets, bathrooms, furniture etc. were worn, tatty and really showing their age.
