"A good basic place to stay in the outskirts of London, clean and comfortable and good value for money, never tried the food as I was starting work too early in the morning, when checking in you are shown where all the menus are for the local take aways and delivery places and soare not made to feel guilty about eating on the premises as many places try to." (97236351)

Clean room, great bathroom and shower, plenty of free parking (mainly on roadside but it is a quiet residential area with plenty of spaces).

    Clean, quiet, comfortable bed

Dark hallways and stairs, further from main road than stated on website, staff attention perfunctory, breakfast poor value for price, no elevator and staff reluctant to help with luggage; hotel is expensive for what is offered

    "Over all fine." (107227825)

Excellent reception staff. Good, clean no-nonsense hotel very well located on a quiet street in a nice area.

Odd that housekeeper due round at 6.30am on Sunday morning! Odd that towels etc to be left outside rooms in order to avoid the 6.30am housekeeper visit - isn't this sort of thing usually done during the day and after guests check out?

The room was clean and spacious.

The receptionist stayed on a personal phone call for 10 minutes while we were waiting to check in. Our room wasn't ready 2 hours after the stated check-in time. Kettle and phone didn't work in our room.

The owners was really friendly people.

the room was too small, and it was not pleasant share the living room with doggy and bad mannered workers, unsafe for my work collegue (a lady)... 4 car parking are not sufficicent for 15 rooms... and when you come back also find the truck of the workers parked in!!! terrible!

    Nothing

Hotel had a run-down feel... poorly decorated. Lights and TV in my room didn't work

    Quiet and clean

A bit too warm and the shower hose was difficult to fix to the holding attachment

The light above the mirror didn't work, which should have been sorted really. The staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel has sufficient parking and is in a nice area of Croydon. Overall, I was happy with my visit." (97304498)

Friendly staff. Courteous. Interior garden and dining area were well done.

Room advertised as non-smoking, but someone had definitely been smoking in it. Lighting inadequate...very gloomy and impossible to read in bed. Perhaps another bulb in the overhead fixture or a free-standing floor lamp.

The breakfast room in the conservatory, overlooking the sunlit lush green garden really made my day!

The stairs are steep and narrow, which makes it difficult to take a fairly heavy suitecase to the room.

Shower/toilet facilities were fine and there was a TV and a kettle for making hot drinks. I felt it was good value for money and would consider using the hotel again if I needed to stay in Croydon in the future. The reception staff member was friendly and welcoming." (99015751)

    Friendliness of staff, spacious rooms

Room I was allocated was not the one I had booked, and the ground floor room was located next to the main reception. It was very noisy most of the night and I felt vunerable in that room, being so close to public areas. As a lone female traveller, I expected a slightly more remote quieter room to help me feel more secure.

It was basic but we didn't expect anything more for a three star, but we would have liked the bed made the towels changed and the shower to have worked, breakfast was good and made to order on Monday when it wasn't busy.

the shower was broken, so we had to hold the shower head to have a shower, the towels were not changed and we only had one bath towel and one hand towel between us, the loo roll ran out and the bed was not made.

"This is not a hotel in my view-it is a bed and breakfast. It is old and not well maintained hence the bad smells. It is badly laid out as the above room had the toilet above the bed. The bedroom was reasonable, but not for the money being asked. Also the breakfast-as bad as it was, was at an additional cost of £7-not worth it. An over rated hotel made to sound that it is a hotel in wonderful surroundings-it was on a busy road with no parking!!" (3304881316)

It was simply a place to get a good night's sleep and that's what I got, being in a quiet area. There are few facilities at the hotel, but I wasn't looking for that. I would say it was reasonable value and doesn't pretend to be anything other than it is." (3304851545)

"This is not a place I am likely to stay again. It was clean, my room was warm and comfortable, but I need more from a hotel. It was a lot like the Marie Celeste - despite being told it was more than half full, it seemed like I was the only person there. I expect a lounge / bar area where people congregate to have a drink and a chat - a socializing area. This was not really what was provided by the hotel. Also, I would expect to be able to have a meal or a snack in the evening without providing advanced notice and then settle for getting a takeaway in. As a single woman traveller, I rarely leave my hotel in the evening and expect to have everything I need provided by the hotel - or if not, very close by - such as restaurants - this hotel did not provide that." (3304187520)

The price for what you got was reasonable, the rooms were clean and the area was very quiet

The place is shabby, it needs a spruce up - also, the lounge/bar area needs improvement. There needs to be a proper bar and a proper lounge, where residents can sit, watch TV, read the paper and have a few drinks. Also, parking - it has limited areas for parking and if arriving late evening, it is even sifficult to find on road parking.
