"Satisfactory" (108094563)
Please inform the manager of my favourable impression of the receptionist called Rochelle, she sets an example as someone with a pleasant and helpful attitude, something missing with lots of receptionists.

"A bright, modern hotel which is deceptively close to the railway station, and lies on the fringe of the campus of Sheffield Hallam University. This makes the area feel very safe and pleasant to walk around. The city centre is a short walk away, and the facilities in the hotel are excellent." (97523976)
Modern, clean, hotel with good restaurant, bar and leisure facilities on site. Close to railway station and public transport routes.
Access to rooms is via two lifts which can be very busy, or by a steep staircase and a lift. The lift to reception was out of order during my stay which made access difficult.

Standard room with all amenities
Other guests noisy - only single door allows noise through. Lack of parking, room safe not working, tap falling out of wall in newly refurbished hotel? Using the swimming pool a hasel - getting a pass took time - have to negotiate reception & stairs to gain access to grotty changing rooms, etc.

"Very enjoyable." (97765611)
Friendly and efficient
A minor point - the internet TV was a bit disappointed I couldnt use any of the chat sites - like messenger, google talk or facebook chat - having paid the £10 - that is all I needed to use but was unable to - so a bit of a waste of money and the remote keyboard was frustrating to use. I must remember to pack the power cord to my laptop next time!

"I enjoyed the stay at this Novotel. It was most importantly clean, and comfortable too. My only complaint of the stay would be the ridiculously overpriced breakfast. £12.50 for a buffet breakfast? I had the most expensive bacon sanwiches I've ever had! I wouldn't mind if I didn't have to make them myself. For any American visitors it will be even more of a rip off.. $25 for two sandwiches and a pot of tea!" (97414282)
The room was clean, spacious and the bed was comfortable. I liked the fact that I was able to plug my mp3 player in to the tv.
Not enough light in the room. When the main room light was on, there was only a light on the desk in the corner of the room, and one a small distnace away above the fridge. The bedside lights weren't very bright.

TV reception was poor on some channels. The cleaning lady let herself into the room early on the day we were checking out, which we were not happy about.

"Overall I felt very comfortable in the hotel, and it seemed reasonable value for money for the quality. Not obvious how to find the hotel from the station - I was lucky to see the hotel sign once I had started going in the right general direction. It would have been useful to have some local information in the room, including a map of the City Centre." (97786708)
Good position, welcoming atmosphere, reasonable facilities
Bathroom felt a bit undermaintained. Was irritated that the broadband connecting cable was attached to the tv, so I couldn't use my laptop at the dressing table/desk while connected to the internet.

"We only used the room so can't comment on food etc. The room was good although there was no milk for the tea making until I tracked down one of the maids. It is a convenient city centre hotel - there was some noise when we came back at midnight but we couldn't tell if this was a party in the hotel or a nearby club - it didn't disturb us too badly. The least convenient aspect is the very small car park - all spaces taken and a good 5 mins walk back from the nearest public car park - there are no concessions either so you have to pay £10 for the overnight stay." (97218008)
Good quality bathroom
No car parking

When I tried to order the advertised catering between 11 pm and 6 am at 11.15 pm, I was told that this was not available. The person I spoke to could not speak English properly and could therefore not explain the reason why it was not available.

Large room, very clean, helpful staff
Price of late night food. Most direct exit from hotel into shopping area is a bit secluded (especially after dark) - maybe more signs showing CCTV in use and / or more lighting.

"The reception staff were very helpful and, because of a wedding party, moved us to a room on the other side of the hotel away from the party. Considering we were in the city centre, we had a very peaceful, quiet night. This hotel is very handy for the railway station and the city centre - we went to an event in the City Hall and it was only a five minute walk away." (99669521)
The size of the room
The bath water did not stay in the bath as the plug was faulty and the shower curtains smelt

"Overall a nice hotel right in the city centre. We had a bit of a nightmare with the checking in process which took over an hour due to a mix up with the booking from the agent. But once we were in, no problems at all - although I cannot comment about the restaurant facilities as we didn't use them." (97013002)

"Hotel was very nice inside, left a little to be desired on the outside view but very clean and tidy inside which is the most inmportant. Room was good size, excellent bathroom with seperate shower great idea. Lack of hotel parking was very disappointing as had to pay over the odds for public parking and was not subbed for discounted through the hotel." (99109734)
Centre Location, clean and modern inside
Parking, as the small hotel car park was full had to park in public car park which cost £36. Believe hotel should sub some of it, maybe pay either half or arrange with council for discount parking

comfortable, clean and easy access to station , theatre, restuarants etc.,
building works going on in the same floor with a drilling sound which woke me up in the morning. reception staff could do with a friendly smile when you check in and give the swipe card for the facilities available for eg swimming pool when you check in.
