"We very much enjoyed our stay. This was a basic hotel with minimum services but a good value for the money. " (97153153)
The hotel manager was great, very accommodationg and friendly.
Very difficult to turn the shower on and off. The knob was hard to work and your soappy hand would slide off it. Need a shelf in the bath to hold personal items.

"This hotel is about 10 minutes WALK from the train station, but it will cost you to get there by taxi, due to the one way road system. The hotel is ok, but I found it could be a bit noisy in the evening and the morning." (99572897)

"Very disappointing, unhelpful and expensive for what it was." (99069697)
Recently refurbished.
Attitude of manageress/owner, the fact the ceiling leaked profusely throughout the night for which we recieved little apology and no offer of reduction of cost after we had to change rooms in the middle of the night, an inedible continental breakfast after a refusal to provide a cooked breakfast which was included when we booked but not when we arrived!!

"WE WOULD HAVE WISHED TO KNOW THAT THERE WAS NO COOKED BREAKFAST FACILITY AT WEEKENDS. IT WAS OUR OBSERVATION THAT WHILE EFFORT HAD BEEN GIVEN TO THE PRELIMONARY REFURBISHMENT THERE WERE 12 MINOR FAULTS/DAMAGE IN THE ROOM THAT WOULD HAVE TAKEN OBSERVATION AND A SMALL AMOUNT OF HANDYMAN TIME TO CORRECT. THESE THINGS DETRACTED FROM THE OVERALL GOOD APPEARANCE OF THE ROOM." (3304722572)

"The hotel was small and friendly, ideal for someone travelling on their own. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean with en-suite facilities, tea/coffee, colour tv and plenty of wardrobe space. The location was good too, only a 5 min taxi ride into Reading town centre or a 15 minute walk. Breakfast was great, choice of continental or full English. If travelling in a car, parking space is available and included in price of stay. would definitely stay here again if in the area." (3304578786)
The Belle Vue Hotel is a small and friendly guest house type accommodation, with very good staff who make you feel welcome.
The only downside is that there wasn't a restaurant or bar but there is a pub a few doors down which serves food till 9pm which has a good menu.

Situated very near the center of Reading, this hotel offers very good value for money, with some of the most attentive, friendly and helpful staff we have met in a long time.
The only thing that may be of concern to some guests is the narrow, circular staircase to the upper floors.

No chair or desk in my room. My room (#2) had low ceiling which especially in bathroom was not always convenient.

"There was no desk or chair at which I could have worked during my stay. This is important for the business traveller. A failing light bulb in the corridor outside of the room had still not been replaced at the time of my departure - A Health & Safety issue at least." (2746978)

"The hotel is fairly convenient for the town centre and the standard of accommodation is reasonable for the price charged. It worked well for our one-night stay." (2389204)
The standard of cleanliness was high and the room had a surprisingly good view (over the rooftops of Reading!)
Briefing of temporary weekend staff. Check-in was a slow and rather chaotic process, and the member of staff who was on duty in the morning had not been informed that we had ordered and paid for breakfast!

"Not really a hotel but more a B&B. Overall a nice place to stay for this area. Small room and bathroom, recently renovated and comfortable. Lots of locals who obviously stay there alot which is always a good sign. Breakfast could be a bit better. Very friendly atmosphere. Only real problem is that its a bit noisy in the morning when everyone gets up, ok if you get up early!" (2158044)

"No room service , No bar. After a long drive I do not want be looking around a town looking to get something to eat. At £60 I would expect a lot more , it did not evev manage the same standard as a Travell lodge. I have used your service exclusively(and sugested my team ues it) after this experience I would now suggest we use another service" (1695379)

Very friendly staff and clean hotel
The bed was on a slant due to the matress and a draft coming fron the wall vents between the outside and the room, this made the room a bit damp. No remote control for the tv. No on suite bathroom but had a sink.

"I would not stay here again; we paid £70 and was told only at breakfast time on Sunday morning there was no cooked breakfast, what sort of 4* hotel was this? I have stayed in all sorts of hotels but have NEVER paid this sort of money and not been able to have a cooked breakfast, this is completely ridiculous. Check out was a stupidly early 10am, again, I would have expected it to be around 11am, perhaps midday. We only needed a bed for the night, with the assumption of a cooked breakfast, for this money I could have stayed up the road at a very nice hotel with bigger room, breakfast and a later check out. For future reference, I will be doing. I believe my girl friend is also adding a note on trip advisor about it too." (107127148)
Smooth check in, was expected.
Told this was a 4* hotel; this WAS NOT 4* accomodation. Room was tiny, ceiling falling off, bathroom had paper hanging off the walls and the room was very hot. Thankfully a fan was supplied in the room. Considering I was told this was a 4* hotel I am marking it as such. For a B&B with a cheaper rack rate, my view would have been very different!
