"Hotel is set in tranquil grounds in a residential area. Restaurant menu was a little limited but quality of food was very good. Problem with beer pumps couldn't be fixed on the night so all bitter was off." (97624071)

    Nice friendly staff

    General decor is very tired

"I would have preferred to have been informed the hotel's definition of twin beds beforehand. Twin should mean two identical not one extra large one." (97646450)

I thought that a twin room was a twin bed (including bed linen) room. We had twin beds put together with double sheets and blankets. Not what had been requested.

"Very enjoyable stay, staff were friendly and helpful, evening buffet was good and breakfast was excellent (poached eggs were perfect). Very roomy surroundings and plenty of comfortable chairs. Attractive grounds. We were there for a wedding and would definitely recommend it as a venue to others." (97670606)

Spacious room, plenty of drawers & hanging space, thermostatic radiator, clean and efficient bathroom.

Television was old fashioned with limited channels (no freeview).

"Am I just old-fashioned or would courtesy suggest that reception desk staff stand up to greet guests? Complimentary afternoon tea was a nice touch and appreciated. However, it would have been preferable to have had the option of paying for the full English breakfast should it have been required. On the occasion that we dined in, the table d'hôte menu was well chosen and the food well presented. This fine property is situated in a residential area, ten minutes walk from the shops, but embraced by trees and offers tranquillity and ample parking. Sadly it had a faint air of dilapidation, plenty of peeling paint work. Other aspects of under-maintenance, in the room, included a loose toilet seat, detached wallpaper around the radiator and a broken bedside switch to operate the main lighting. I was not convinced that the extractor fan in the windowless bathroom worked. As mentioned above, manual or thermostatic fine control of room heating was not available. On Christmas evening we returned to find our beds unmade and room not serviced. The response from reception was we can only apologise. ( On reflection, they might have thought of some other way to compensate for their failing!) Despite the shortcomings, our stay was enjoyable. It served our purpose even if we felt the cost merited a somewhat higher level of facility." (97149504)

It had a pleasant outlook onto a lawn area. It was easily accessible on the ground floor yet sufficiently secluded to be reasonably quiet.

On arrival the room was oppressively hot and it proved difficult to moderate this except by the expedient of turning the radiator off altogether. There was a persistent ticking sound, possibly associated with the heating system, that was disturbing. Provision of net curtains for daytime privacy would have been appreciated.

"Nice quiet hotel with friendly staff, ground floor rooms all look out onto the gardens which was nice. Cleaning staff were a little noisy in the morning, but otherwise no complaints. Good size room, so if we had been staying with our daughter, there would have been room for a cot. Excellent breakfast!" (97339584)

Nice quiet room, all the normal facilities. Good breakfast

Cleaners were quite noisy in the morning, and knocked on door to see if they could clean the room instead of waiting until we had checked out.

Excellent bed!We stayed in an executive room & loved the big, firm bed

Coffee at breakfast was consistently cold.Even when this was pointed out, second cups were cold.Perhaps a warming plate would be a solution?

    Staff helpful

Original room had not been serviced from previous occupant, even though it was 17.30 when I checked in. Also restaurant food not cooked properly, ie steak very rare not medium.

"If the problems that I advised the hotel receptionist of have been dealt with and the single bedroom / bathroom size was bigger I would recommend the hotel, but if not, I would not make a point of recommending it." (99335277)

The toilet seat was not fixed to the pedestal properly. There was a small flashing light in the bedroom ceiling which operated throughout the night & disturbed my sleep.

Friendly and efficient staff. Good location.

Shower not working properly; toilet seat loose. Moved to another room (as shower problem could not be repaired immediately) which was smaller than the original.

    Clean and very spacious room.

Room though clean smelt musty and could have done with a new carpet as the carpet looked old.

    the size of the room

The shower was too hot in the morning and too cold in the evening. I was unable to control the amount of heat in the water. I asked the hotel to check it out, they did and told me it was fine - there was no change to how it operated. The TV was old, and not many satellite channels.

Beautiful spacious room. Selections of tea, coffee and hot chocolate accompanied by daily biscuits. Fine china cups in room. Hot water in shower. Good housekeeping staff.

Could hear noises in next room. We were watching TV at 11 when we heard a knock on the door. It was people from next door telling us to turn down our TV. That was a first for us. Also, not specifically the accommodation but the first few days of our five day stay our card would not open the door which involved walking down to the reception. A young gentlemen finally made what changes need to be done to the system.

"The reception staff could have been friendlier and more welcoming, the bar staff were actually more welcoming to me on my arrival. The hotel itself and its grounds were very nice and although I was a single guest my room was a double and was well situated overlooking the garden. Although only 3 stars I would have rated it a little higher. The breakfast was adequate and the breakfast service staff were very efficient and helpful. There was no hotel information in the room so I had to ask the time of breakfast and time of checkout, I was told the information was being reprinted, perhaps the information could have been given to me on check in. I will definitely stay at the Lismoyne Hotel again when visiting the area." (99243918)

the situation of the hotel in its own grounds was very nice, the hotel appeared to be well kept in the public areas.Very well situated for Fleet town centre.

"I thought that the breakfast service the following day was quite poor. I thought that the general set up of the restaurant was poor. I came down for breakfast and asked the waiteress for one cooked breakfast. I then waited for approx 20 minutes before I realised that it was self-service (even for a cooked breakfast). It would have been helpful it that waitress had informed when I had asked her for a cooked breakfast that the hot food was self-service as well. When I approached the hotplate, the food was cold and not of a good standard (dried up and greasy). It took an irate couple loudly complaining to the waiting staff get some more hot food on the breakfast buffet. We had to ask fore more coffee and toast numerous times (I noticed this with other diners on the other tables as well. I thought that the breakfast service was poor and quite disappointing considering that the other aspects of my stay at the Lismoyne were very good." (3304811562)

The hotel was extremely clean and the reception and night porter staff were very helpful and friendly.

I was not happy when my room key did not work. It seemed to me that the swipe card had not been pre-activated by reception and I had to abandon my luggage and run down two flights of stairs to alert reception. It was a pity that there was not a help point/contact phone on the wall to directly contact reception. In the evening, the night porter said that he could not accept cash payment for drinkls in the evening and drinks had to be charged to our room (which I thought was unusual). When we went to reception the next morning to check out, one of the gentlemen in my party had been charged for drinks that he had not even ordered.

Reception was pleasant and helpful, my room in the main building had been totally refurbished and was excellent, all new fixtures and fittings to a high standard. conservatory and Bar area was pleasant.

The new bath (with shower over)should have been of the type with non slip surface, or a bathmat provided. I felt a bit a risk taking a shower especially as everything was new and shiny. Perhaps a handrail would help.

This hotel has given us a new standard by which to measure others; should we wish to visit the general area again, we would happily travel daily to enjoy the evenings there. We would mention the breakfast coffee not being hot and the slight hitch in the availability of cooked food, but would not want to detract from the overall pleasure from our short stay."
