    The staff were friendly and knowledgable and it was in a great location with easy access to the old town, bus and train stations.

    Could be noisy outside during the day

    "Pleased I had chosen this hotel based on the reviews. Really helpful friendly staff, particularly George. Breakfast was much better than I hoped, large choice of self service continental breakfast, worth paying the extra based on the prices and choice of nearby restaurants. Room was spacious and although overlooking noisy main road in the daytime it was much quieter through the night. I would recommend this hotel to friends" (99330980)

    "Hotel Lafayette is in an excellent location mid-way between Nice rail and bus stations, close to main shopping area and a short walk from restaurants and bars of the old town. Public transport is such that it is easy to visit attractions of the wider area without need of a car. Hotel rooms are spotlessly cleaned each day. All staff are extremely helpful and seem genuinely friendly. Reception staff all spoke some English - even George, the genial Scotsman, who was great with advice on where to go and how to get there. Excellent value for money. We look forward to a further visit." (99054165)

    Your desk person, George was very gracious and helpful.

    We were in a room that allowed for too much road noise. The bathroom had an odor of sewergas, and the room #108 is badly in need of a new box spring and matress.

    "Hotel was just off the old town which is full of cafes bars and good eating places. The concierge (George) was Scottish and so English is no problem. He was also really helpful with lots of guide books and advice on where to go and what to see in Nice and the surrounding area. Breakfast buffet is simple but filling - coffee, croissant, cereal, yoghurt, juice etc.. (where else can you get a boiled egg with your croissant?) and rooms are cheaper and cleaner relative to other central Nice hotels. No parking though. Recommended to any budget travellers who want a clean, air-conditioned, safe and reliable place to stay 3 minutes walk from the sea." (3305088143)

    The hotel is in an excellent position. We had a superior double room which was excellent. Two double beds, spacious and spotlessly clean, excellent bathroom and shower. TV and teamaking failities. The owners and their staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast at 8 euros was excellent value.

    Our only criticism would be that the hotel is on the first floor and there is a fairly steep staircase to tackle and no lift. Also we asked the owners to consider more English speaking programmes on the TV; we only had CNN on our visit.
