"After finally getting in the room the stay turned out well." (107159483)

    was given a better room

we thought with giving credit card details that the money would come off the card. on arrival my son was told he had to give card details again or pay cash. I had to ring the hotel to give my card details again.By this time my son was loosing his temper.

"The ladies staffs in the front desk do not helpful. The telephone of the housekeeping does not response / does not react to our request. So I give "poor" to the Performance of staff. However, the man-staff of the front desk is kind and helpful. The old ladies-housekeeper is also nice." (107153536)

    Generally it is clean

The first room #512 is awful, so we have to move to another room which is "adequate". but the electric appliances such as the lamp, the heater-rail for the tower and the kettle do not work.

    comfortable beds, friendly staff

Very dirty bathroom , walls, surfaces, switches; whole needs a thorough steam clean , and refurb. Even old facilities can be clean. Shower is inadequate, shower curtain arrangements are antiquated and unpleasant. Desk service was slow, due to poor prioritisation by the one member of staff on the desk.

    Parking close by

The overall stay was poor. The television did not work. I rang reception who said they would ring when it was fixed. There was no remote control. The room felt dirt with marks on the wall. The information below states not to use this as a complaint. I had no intention to complain but if you ask me to categorise my stay, and this is the second email reqesting this, then it wax a poor stay.

"The hotel looked in great need of some care and attention. The service was ok ish but felt that being taken to our table in the resurant and then directed to the food would have been better than ' sit anywhere and the carvery is over there'. The tiles in the bathroom needed a good clean and there was a general air of neglect about the place. Having said that it provided us with a bed for the night and a fairly adequate meal." (97718415)

It was close to the daytime activity of our choice

The parking was expensive. The room was too hot and couldn't open window because of noise. Only two tea bags for non coffee drinkers, however we were provided with extra when we asked. Some concern over a couple of poles that appeared to be holding up the ceiling of the bare.

Ideal location for city centre entertainment. Late check out and availability of breakfast until 11.00.

Bar area was a little spartan

"We had a lovely time and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nottingham is a lovely city with loads to see and do." (108042541)

Very central hotel which made it very easy to visit and explore the sights and attractions of Nottingham by foot. Weather was fantastic!

Room overlooked multi-storey carpark opposite and there was audible noise from the air vents from there when windows were open. Room only had a bath (not a bad point but an option of a shower as well would have been nice - there was plenty of room in the bathroom)

"The hotel was great, however the staff were not." (97838940)

The rooms were an excellent standard and very clean.

We found the reception staff to be less than helpful. We enquired about the cost of the car park but found that the staff were to busy to help us. We also asked them to book us a taxi but after half an hour of waiting in the reception area found out that they had not booked us one. Once they finally did (after asking 2 more times) we had already missed our booking at the place we were going to.

Had a lovely, large, well decorated room. Good housekeeping

There was limited choice of alcohol in the bar due to lack of deliveries. The same thing happened last year (June 2007). The same excuse was given both times "the member of staff who is responsible for ordering has left the company". It appears that this must be the standard response . . .

"Overall, a disappointing experience. and poor value for the minimal service supplied. Barely three star in my view." (97677329)

The room was clean. The buffet breakfast was good, but expensive compared to local cafes.

I asked for a smoking room. But no ashtray was supplied. I asked the desk to supply one on two occasions and was assured one would be sent up. It never was. One of the two lifts was out of order. It took between 10 and 15 minutes to get to breakfast and return, and to check out when many people were on the move. Many guests were complaining about this. The Receptionist was very off-hand about this situation and seemed to be immune to the complaints from guests. The soap and shampoo provided were inadequate if one wished to bathe morning and evening. One bath towel only was supplied. I was very disappointed to find that no Sky TV was provided - in particular there was no Sky sports chanel. It would be better to drop the "adult" porn chanels and provide Sky instead! The room itself was lit only by the bedside light. The room was of adequate size but there was nowhere to place a suitcase other than on the unused side of the bed.

I was disappointed that there wasn't a welcome pack in the room explaining the hotel. Also, the restaurant was not very good. The service was one man on his own who handed me a menu and walked off before even asking if I would like a drink. Also, the food was adequate and I only ate in the hotel once rather than three times even though it was included in the price.

The overall appearance of the hotel was clean and well maintained. All staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. Our room was clean, well presented and very comfortable.

The only criticism I would make would be about the heating! Maybe this could be turned down a little, as at times it was uncomfortably hot.

"I booked DBB which proved to be a big mistake. The buffet style food was dire. It goes out at 6.30pm and is not refreshed so by the time I arrived at 8.30 it was inedible. It then took 90 minutes of sitting (how long can you make a newspaper last?)in the restaurant before I was served something fresh and hot. Room service kept taking preferance for the single chef. Breakfast was not much better, Annemic sausages and burnt, dried out bacon. Menu unimaginative and more suited to a caf. So adequte room but eat out, lots of places handy" (97048516)

The meal was disappointing - the soup was good and so the puddings - but the main courses were very poor. The dishes should have been labelled - didnt know what the dishes contained. There seemed to be no waiter service at all. Nice to get a jug of water, but never asked if we wanted any other kind of drinks. Manager very cheerful and obliging." (97835781)

The hotel smelled unpleasant, was run down and dirty. The beds were the most uncomfortable thing we had ever experienced in any hotel seeming to be constructed mainly of iron springs that made it nearly impossible to sleep on. The bathroom was shabby and didn't seem particularly clean. The hotel is centrally located to Nottingham but on an incredibly busy and noisy main road overlooking a car park." (97960760)

It was close to the train station and heart of Nottingham

"The package represented fair value for money, given that it included bed, breakfast and dinner. The first room I checked into had water coming in just above the window, but I was immediately given another room. The staff were courteous and the restaurant staff were particularly welcoming. The standard of food was acceptable most days except one and there was plenty of it. The noise from what I assume was the heating was a problem at night. Overall the hotel had an air of having seen better days. The room was well equipped but a little worn at the edges (literally). For a business trip, this was fine - and it felt safe, which as a solo traveller I consider important - but it is not a hotel I would use for leisure. In fairness, with the exception of the problem with the lock, I didn't report my concerns to the staff and so they didn't have a chance to put things such as the lights and towel rail right." (97948465)

The room was spacious and well equipped. The restaurant staff were friendly. I liked the fact that a jug of iced water was provided for each meal.

The swipe card for the door was unreliable. On three occasions I was unable to get into the room at all and had to go back down to reception for help. There was no mirror in the room or bathroom with adequate lighting for doing make-up. The noise from the heating ( even though I'd turned it off in my room) was constant throughout the night. The heated towel rail wasn't working. The bathroom was clean but the bath sealant was discoloured by mould in places.

great location; good coffee/tea service in the room
