"I would have like to see, in plain view, access, or direction to an access ramp to pull my wheeled luggage to the check-in desk and larger sign with directions to the check-in desk. The hotel was very nice with an excellent location, especially since I had luggage and the Covent Garden tube station has a lift to street level. That was a great help with my luggage." (97937894)

    The location

Can not think of anything I could say I did not like.

"We would liked to have known that bedrooms are not ready until about 3pm. Your staff were extremely polite and in general very helpful, that being the reason that we did not wish to make a song and dance about the rooms not being ready on time. You are a very nice Hotel" (97328450)

Beds were very comfortable, and room had good facilities

The room was not ready on our arrival at 2pm, we were asked to return at 2.30pm still not ready, we agreed to accept another room and when we got into it we found that was not ready!! Would have thought we would have been offered an up grade bearing in mind all the inconvenience we had been put to.

  • 6/10 Ann (Mature couple)

"Perfect location for a trip to the theatre." (97665832)

The room was modern, clean and comfortable and fairly well equipped.

Don't bother with beakfast. £15 for a very mediocre buffet with no option to go for a continental style. The room was on the small side, considering we had paid a bit extra for a "Club" room. The bathroom lacked any shelf space to put toiletries etc down.

"It would have been helpful to have had a choice of rooms - facing the Strand or a quieter room elsewhere." (97415082)

Clean and efficient with spacious public areas

Room overlooking the Strand was not surprisingly noisy at night, but the management had tried to deal with this by installing wooden shutters in place of curtains. Long delays in serving pre-theatre supper.

  • 9/10 Mary (Group of work colleagues)

"The hotel is clean, friendly and gives excellent value for money. The bar and restaurant offer very good service and high quality food." (97264593)

No smoking facilities i.e. covered courtyard or similar.

  • 5/10 Lorna (Mature couple)

from Bredhurst , GB on  April 13, 2008

"Room small and airless. Bed hard against the wall in a corner so you would have had to access by climbing in from the bottom? Noisy although on 5th floor. Sounded like buckets or skips being emptied all night. No flannel in bathroom (which is most unusual for any hotel). Told this is included in the upgraded Club rooms?* A lot of money for very little comfort." (97199073)

It is near the Theatre which we were visiting. Lots of restaurants in the area also.

Room VERY small for a double and noisy.

"My wife and I have stayed in this hotel many times. The previous time we stayed I was annoyed to be told in the restaurant that I could not charge meals up to my room as I had not arranged additional credit which was different from all the previous times I had stayed due to a new system that had been introduced but it had not been made clear to me on checking in. However I am now familiar with the system and have no complaints." (97238127)

Very comfortable room. Breakfast excellent as were the other restaurant facilities.

We stayed in a club double room which was very nice

we thought that it was quite expensive

  • 9/10 Violet jane (Other)

from Newcastle upon tyne , GB on  March 21, 2008

The room was airy and the bed was very comfortable and I was surprised to find 3 pillows which made the night even more comfortable. The tea and coffee facilities were good the shower fabulous. There was no noise from the corridor which meant I slept well and woke refreshed. I stayed at the Strand Palace in 1971 with a group of work colleagues and I have to say I was not disappointed in my opinion it is still a wonderful Hotel and I would recommend it to anyone and stay again the next time I travel to London. Thank you.

    Not a single thing

  • 9/10 Justine (Solo business traveller)

from Ellesmere port , GB on  February 25, 2008

"The hotel was warm and friendly and the staff were helpful and not too overbearing which can be a negative when staying in central London. The hotel room was quite small, or rather, the hotel room was probably the right size for a single but at over £100 per night, a little overpriced in my view...alas that's what London is all about" (97379651)

I found the staff extremely helpful, especially the concierge desk and housekeeping

The room was quite small (Admittedly it was a single though)

  • 6/10 Roger (Mature couple)

from Tamworth , GB on  February 24, 2008

"we were not very happy when we got out of the lift to find we had to walk were the hotel was being plastered. They must have a problem with there plumbing because both mornings we were there the water in the hot tap and shower kept going off. We were told by maintains that no other rooms seem to have a problem with the water." (97472685)

    very comfortable

not having any water to wash

  • 10/10 Verona (Group of adult friends)

"The single room was adequate and contained everything I expected in it, the bed was very comfortable. However, the room was very small and drab, the overall appearence of the hotel was shabby. It was in a convenient location but I would not wish to stay there again." (97664251)

It was convenient for where I was visiting although it did take me some time to find it.

The room was very small and drab.

    room size, lobby areas, restaurants

the doors that were on the bedroom floors were pretty unsightly. the broken tiles in our bathroom hadnt been replaced with the same tile, a smaller one had filled a gap and it looked very unsightly.

    Nothing

  • 9/10 Thomas (Solo leisure traveller)

from Astoria , US on  December 12, 2007

"I didn't really know what to expect form this hotel. It had been a long time since I was last in London. Coming from America with the dollar being so devalued these days, everything in London is very expensive to me. However, I found a web deal for a small room at this hotel at a decent price. I feared the worst but got the best. The room was small, but not as small as I expected. The hotel was fairly nice and in a perfect location. The concierge service was robust and all staff that I interacted with were friendly and professional. I would absolutely look to book here again for my next stay." (97384672)

Perfect location; nice overall hotel; better room than I expected for the price; good concierge service.

Nothing really. At this price I would definitely stay again.

"When I booked for my Collegue to stay in the hotel, all my payment details were taken and I assumed the checking out process would be done off this card. I was suprised to find out that my Guest had to pay off his card and luckily he had enough funds to do this. No notification was given of this procedure on line and I feel I would not be the only one caught out with this. Otherwise my guest had a lovely and pleasurable stay." (97115256)

location was perfect for all the main tourist attractions and within easy walking distance of same.

    No parking facilities

  • 8/10 Anonymous (Solo leisure traveller)

Everything about the room was clean, the TV screen modern, the shower worked, offers for discounts at the restaurant, good value evening meal, quiet room

That I had to wait in the queue for checking in, overlooking the back of grey buildings occupied by pigeons (but there was a nice wooden screening/shutter at the window, which I used)

I contacted the hotel and they were extremely sympathetic and helpful about allowing a late cancellation. Brilliant customer relations -- Duty Manager to be commended. Will certainly book at the hotel again and recommend it to friends." (97283742)

  • 9/10 Tom (Solo leisure traveller)

"Exceptionally polite and very attentive male receptionist at check-in. Gave aura of calm, unflustered manner when dealing with the public. Similar chap with same attitude at check-out. That feature alone would certainly encourage me to return for another visit as it implied the hotel cared for its customers and treated them as people first and foremost and not just as economic units." (99180054)

Clean, comfortable room. Location was quiet apart from the occasional corridor noises though in fairness that will happen in any hotel to varying degrees.

    Nothing to complain about.

  • 7/10 Marlene (Other)

from Dundee , GB on  June 14, 2007

"The staff were good and accommodating as I had my very elderly parents with me. But I felt that the breakfast was poor for the money they charge - £40 for 3 people - bacon was dried out, the mushrooms were out of a tin and I did not even try the sausages as they looked awful. If I knew I would have headed down to McDonalds and got a much nicer breakfast. I don't mind paying for things if they are good quality and choice. The room service menu was okay - again, not much choice, but the food was nice. Same price as the breakfast and much better quality. I book many hotels online and have had mainly good experiences. This is my second bad one but first bad one in UK." (99699796)

    Location.

Expensive for the qaulity. Brekafast was definitely not value for money. There was little choice and cost a fortune! You get better in a 5* in Scotland! I would not choose this hotel in the future.

Hotel in great location for central London and that's about it.

The location of the hotel and the efficiency of the reception staff after some bad experiences with other central London hotels.
