"I would like to have known the size of the room beforehand, it was fine for one night but any longer and it would have been uncomfortable. Didnt really see any staff on hand until the following morning at breakfast. The breakfast was good, and the staff seemed friendly when we saw them. It was clean with tea/coffee in the rooms." (97354798)

The hotel was clean, parking was good, good english breakfast.

The room was a lot smaller than we thought, in the pictures it gives the impression of good size rooms.

"My stay was short. Good except for sound factor. I would choose a different single room." (107229333)

Clean, tidy with good basic facilities in the room. Bathroom with good facilities. friendly staff and a good English breakfast.

Poor soundproofing to ajoining room. Couple of ladies came back about midnight and I could have heard much of what they said, if I had wished. They got up at 5am and made a great deal of noise before leaving early.

Very clean, friendly staff and good food.

Creaky bathroom door, no real ale or snacks.

"excellent, would stay there again" (108087913)

Very friendly staff, rooms nicely decorated, teamaking facilities, lovely fresh and new bathroom, excellent breakfast, parking space

rooms rather small, bathroom tiny with not enough shelves, no hooks on bathroom door for hanging housecoat etc., windows opened with difficulty, during daytime one could see into bedroom from the garden (a nett curtain would be helpful)

The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. It was a pleasure to stay there and I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. I had a wonderful stay and will definitely stay there again. It was easy to find, within walking distance to train station to get into central London, and ample free parking.

Although the hotel was non-smoking, my bedroom smelt of cigarette smoke.

    "All very good ...." (97235381)

Very friendly family run hotel ... convenient for our purposes.

A little way out of Sutton. Four poster room was a little on the small side, but fine for a one-night stay.

  • 9/10 Mike ( Mature couple)

from Sudbury , GB  on  May 27, 2008

"We needed to book a hotel for later in the week and this came top of the Google search. Reviews were a bit mixed, so it's always a case of taking a chance when you book an unknown hotel. Online booking process nice and easy. On arrival the receptionist greeted us by name (we must have been the only guests left to check in that night!) which was a nice touch. He fetched us extra towels and was a very pleasant man, who also cooked the breakfast the next morning. The room was very clean and quiet. Overall excellent value for money for a Greater London hotel. Shame we only stayed the one night!" (97935603)

It had obviously been recently redecorated and the bed was very comfortable.

"Good experience and friendly staff. very comfortable rooms but the service in the dinning room could have been a little better. Overall I would recommend it to our friends." (97344208)

Very clean and presentable. Comfortable rooms and good dinning area.

Breakfast was 'OK' but could have been presented a little better and we had to ask for a pot of tea rather than it being offered. Very limited number of tea bags in the room.

  • 9/10 Anna ( Mature couple)

"Very good - We plan to stay there again when next we visit the London area." (97497770)

The manager was very friendly and helpful - help with directions, restaurants, stores, etc. The food was good, and the room was clean and comfortable. The location was great for us, not too far from the train stations in both Cheam and Sutton. The village of Cheam had everything we needed for comfort.

The Internet service did not reach into our room, and the provider blocked access to our email provider (Verizon). The only other problems were the lack of consistently hot water in the shower and a mirror over the desk to facilitate using the hairdryer provided.

"It was OK, but just functional rather than enjoyable" (97093940)

Room clean Bed comfortable Ensuite newly refurbished and clean

Staff not good- male receptionist called me "mate" and breakfast staff unsmiling Poor selection of breakfast items, no croissants/bakery,no fruit option, brown bread not replenished when it was finished

"The staff are both professional and friendly. Car parking is at the front of the building. There is a lovely garden at the back of the hotel where you can sit and watch the wildlife. The breakfast is good, all freshly cooked." (97864864)

My room was very comfortable and clean, with a new flat-screen TV. The bathroom appears to be new, with a decent shower.

"The bar was supposed to open at lunchtime through to 11pm. We returned to hotel at 10.20pm to find the bar closed. Also did not open until 5pm. Prices for shorts seemed quite excessive eg. £5 for a baileys over ice. The breakfast was excellent and so was the service." (97990049)

The room was large and light, well decorated.

The bathroom was a little small for an executive room

  • 7/10 Richard ( Mature couple)

from Ayelsbury , GB  on  March 20, 2008

"The accomodation is interesting and has character, relatively well priced and has free parking. In that context it is much better than the main alternative, the Holiday Inn. The rooms are neat and generally clean, with evidence of further refurbishment underway. Breakfast was fresh and reasonably comprehensive, and 'English breakfast' well cooked. Would have liked some fruit available had it been for more nights. We stayed on a Sunday night and there was no bar or restaurant available for evening meals, although simple snacks were offered when we questioned this." (97193628)

    Convenient, friendly staff, free parking

No evening meals at weekends currently

Room was nice size clean and tidy I would use this hotel again.

Water in shower and sink was slow to drain.

"The hotel is good in all aspects save for the evening meal which is a very limited menu and all vegetables are from frozen packs thus tasteless. The veggies were also undercooked. (Hotel did not charge me for this meal)Breakfast was fine." (97273249)

The room ( twin as single) was very acceptable

Newly installed shaving light in bathroom had no pull cord/switch to operate it!!

The accommodation was good for the price we paid for it

  • 7/10 Alyson ( Other)

from Cardiff , GB  on  July 12, 2007

"The one and only major problem with this accommodation was the staff's lack of ability to converse and communicate in English, even down to ordering drinks at the bar. The accommodation was reasonably good considering the rates" (99374903)

The overall accommodation was pleasant and clean and served its purpose as a place to stay during a hectic two days

The main problem was that the staff did not only not speak english but they didn't appear to understand english either, which made communicating quite difficult. Also the shower in the ensuite was of very poor quality and quite disappointing.

  • 4/10 Linda ( Group of work colleagues)

from Pineuilh , FR  on  June 24, 2007

The breakfast was excellent apart from the porridge which was thin and sloppy. The staff were freindly and helpful.

The room was very small and uncomfortable - beds were old and made my hip numb. The room did not have a hair dryer, the curtains kept coming off their track and they were 15cm's too short for the window. The windows were old and I could not close them properly. The shower was old and had tiles falling off the wall. The bathroom was very small with nowhere to hang clothes, the door did not close properly and lacked a lock. The tea facilities were poor - only given 4 pots of milk & 4 sachets of tea for 2 guests. there was no desk lamp and no remote control for TV - had to ask for it. This was a small single room that had 2 beds squeezed into it. I had to share with a business colleague and it was not adequate. No one asked if we had enjoyed our stay when we left.

"We were attending a funeral in the area and were grateful to find a small friendly hotel. Our room was compact, comfortable and clean. We recommend this hotel to anyone preferring a ' homely ' atmosphere as opposed to the sometimes more formal and business like approach." (99391617)

    Friendly informal atmosphere and staff

Plug in bathroom basin did not work. When reported there was no apology or effort made to offer another. We were simply told 'no it doesn't work !!!!

  • 7/10 Tim ( Solo leisure traveller)

    Nice new on suite facility

Road noise, only one towel, I showered after work but the towel was damp in the morning for my shower

  • 8/10 Anonymous ( Young couple)

    on  March 22, 2007

"Very friendly, efficient and helpful staff. Room clean and warm; tea and coffee making facilities - always a plus. Good value, I think. Sink plug looked quite sophisticated but didn't work! Hot water ran out after one of us had a shower so one had to not have a shower and wash hair under the cold water of the shower. The towels were rather thin. I would recommend the hotel, but only for a basic place to stay - not really for holidaying unless on a tight budget. But Cheam isn't really a place to go on holiday anyway!" (99598053)

Value for oney - we didn't really need it to be special

It was fine but a little drab/old fashioned

    from Carnoustie , United Kingdom;GB  on  February 1, 2007

"The hotel was very nice, and if the shower had worked or been fixed quickly I would have given it an extremely favourable review. There was very little wrong at all. The hotel staff sincerely believed that the shower had been fixed on the first day, and on the second morning of my stay, when they found that it was still defective, they immediately offered me another room so that I could shower. In summary I think that it is a great small hotel." (99929214)

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was great.

The shower in the room didn't work and the hotel failed to fix it, although they did give me a generous discount on the price of the room. In their defence, they did their best to get the plumbing sorted out but I think that they were let down by their tradesman.

"We were pleased with the hotel and as it was quiet we were offered a free upgrade on arrival to the four poster room which was a real bonus. The hotel needs to be refreshed a little as it looks a bit tired. If we had paid the full rate for our room I would have been disappointed with the shower room facilities, but since we were upgraded I really have no place to complain." (99499796)

    Staff were excellent and friendly

The shower was just a dribble.
