Great hotel with good staff
Not impresed with booking system. Only after booking were we informed we had to pay £11 each for breakfast to qualify for the cheap room rate, which is very irritating.

"This is a lovely hotel in a central location. The restoration/conversion from the technical school has been sympathetically done. The staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. The level of service is very high. The room was well - equipped but was rather small given the cost. The buffet breakfast was adequate, but no more than that from my experience at other establishments. The lack of parking is a major deficiency, but no different to other Sheffield City hotels." (97500737)
King sized, comfortable bed High level of equipment
Size of bedroom - some finish in bathroom was poor Some external/internal noise

"The bathroom was the main problem, it was a disabled room that didn't cater for able bodied people and I suspect would have presented issues for disabled also. There was a general lack of attention to detail, no low level flat surfaces made shaving and cotact lens cleaning difficult and the only surface would have been out of each for somebody in a wheelchair. The shower was cold and the only place to hang a towel was about 4 metres away from the shower. I had to squat down to see into the shaving mirror and the sink was ridiculously small to the point the kettle had to be filled with a cup at a time." (97984673)
It was clean, everything worked, the consumables were a nice touch

"The entrance to the hotel was very welcoming, clean etc, and first impressions, I beleive are most important. The receptionist was very freindly and helpful. Room was perfect, bed very comfortable and warm, actually the best hotel bed I've slept in. Great to have breakfast in bed, at no extra charge and cooked great. Only downside the room was very warm and the mini bar very expensive. If it was a little cheaper we may have indulged." (97937440)
All was top class- a very comfortable stay

It is a small hotel. It has quiet and calm atomosphere.
Sometimes its service is a little bit slow.

"The central location was excellent, near the railway station and in the city centre. The hotel was smart but rather pretentious. Staff friendly and helpful." (97791605)
Location. Smart hotel. Friendly, helpful staff.
Lack of attention to detail - eg, only one cup on hospitality tray and coffee, milk etc had not been replenished; only one robe and pair of slippers, etc, in double room. Room was much too hot and it was difficult to turn heating down. No operating instructions for tv, shower etc. Turndown service unnecessary. Staff were almost too attentive: eg at dinner, in a small room with two couples, it was not possible to have a private conversation because the waiter was hovering the whole time.

"A brief stay but one that I will repeat. I enjoyed the calm relaxed feel of the hotel and the attitude of the staff. The location is excellent if you need to be in Sheffield City centre and the surrounding envirnoment has clearly been much developed to provide numerous dining/socialising options." (97388647)
Stylish environment making the best of the traditional features of the building in a modern, minimalist, but not cold, fashion. Staff were friendly and efficient, exactly what is needed on an overnight business stay.

"The hotel was spotless and the Staff most helpful. My only slight criicism, and I make it bearing in mind that the weather had become colder, is that the air conditoning was somewhat oppresive and gave rise to a dry atmosphere. Otherwise, I wd have no hesitation in recommending this hotel." (97471299)

Unfortunately the air conditioning was faulty in the room and it continued to chime every minute to indicate a fault, this was quite annoying.

"Hotel is on site of an old technical school. They have retained a lot of the features and old photos of both the industry and pupils that took place in and attended the school respectively maintaining the character and adding to the experience of the stay. The accommodation was fantastic, very clean and beautiful rooms. Staff were very friendly welcoming and as personal touch bed turned down when we were out and chocolates left. Hiccup at breakfast but staff were very courteous and apologetic. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone." (97449171)

"The instructions on how to get to the hotel could be a lot better as we had great difficulty in actually finding it. The lack of parking facilites at the hotel meant a rather convoluted drive round the city centre trying to find a poorly marked underground car park. Has any one ever considered valet parking facilities?" (97911258)

climate control was a tad too dry for my liking

Very modern feel hotel however it has kept a lot of its original characteristics from it's historical roots as a boys school.
There was nothing I could fault about the hotel. The only slight downside was the fact there is no onsite parking. However the staff were Extremely helpful at directing you to a local subsidised secure car park that was very reasonably priced.

"New hotel, with many teething problems. One of our two rooms not available until after 4pm. One room had no working airconditioning. Internet advertised restaurant open from 5pm - this was important to us as we went to the Theatre - was not open until 6.30pm. Internet advertised valet car parking - this was not available. Hotel tried to have a/c fixed but we ended up with an electric fan. We would like to think that these teething problems will be rectified speedily as we would like to return" (97397322)

"Do try this hotel the building has great character the staff are welcoming and helpful. The restaurant is on the lower ground floor ok for breakfast but not too exciting as a place for evening meals. You will like the comfort of the rooms." (97500560)
Newly opened this hotel is in an excellent city centre location and will be one of the finest hotels in Sheffield. It is well served by its friendly and helpful staff.
The rooms are a little crowded with modern gadgets some of which do not work properly at present. Many of the probelms are due to the fact that the hotel has just opened.
