"Despite the rooms needing a bit paint & new wallpaper I still like to stay here as the breakfest is very good & the staff are very friendly." (97351543)

It is close to the Arsenal Football Ground & Tube stations & not far from City Center.

Some rooms are a little small & they do with a complete makeover

Friendly helpful staff. Room basic & clean. Breakfast very adequate

Bedroom fittings need attention. Toilet wobled more than a little. Floor of bathroom slippery when wet-more of a wet-room. Several fittings old & rusting. Comfortable bed

There was not much space in the room. The TV was on during breakfast and was very loud.

"room was nice but not really adequate for my needs as disabled. person on duty assumed i could walk upstairs and must have thought i didnt look \disabled as it isnt obvious looking at me even though i had asked for low ground floor, breakfast unappealing but adequate." (97620012)

luxury room brand new wing.this made us think other rooms must be awful as otherwise would have just given us the room on ground floor, which really was what we wanted, but made us feel the luxury wing was better.

i have mobility problems have a chronic illness asked for low floor room or use of lift. no lift to use and said ground dloor room really old so offered us 2 floor room luxury sa only few stairs but turned out 26 stairs made me ill .breakfast room down more stairs no good access for wheelchairs if needed.breakfast limited not offered a choice of cereal just english breakfast. usually offered cereal at other hotels but not here.time of breakfast too rigid

    breakfast was ok

terrible condition of room, handles missing of of doors carpets not cleaned dirt allway round edges, curtains haning off of rails windows dirty,Other guests stood drinking outside hotel window until the early hours

"Like all of London, and indeed, the South East, hotels are far too expensive. Hotels and rooms in French Spanish and German cities are available in similar or better quality for 35 to 65 Euros. This Costello Palace is dearer than a mid-week room in Ceasar's Palace in Las Vegas, and reeks of Rip-Off Britain, and does not bode well for the British tourist industry in the long term ! Alex Marshall, (A frequent international traveller of many years )" (97652533)

Decor & fabrics were too dark in colour and made the roomGLOOMY

"The internet picture of a room and the room we stayed in were completely different. Our room smelt like it needed a good airing. It was small, dark & dingy with wallpaper peeling off in several places. At £95 for one night, it did not represent value for money." (97965295)

On entering the room smelt slightly damp/unused. It looked dirty, was very small (a chair had to be moved to get the suitcase in). Wallpaper was in several places peeling off.

No choice of breakfast and very limited as to food offered. No information in room about area, facilities etc. A guest was walking along the corridor hammering on everyones door and singing loudly at 4 o'clock in the morning!!" (97277544)

"It was a big pity that the staff were friendly but were let down by the room. I don't mind furnishings that are not to my taste, I'm just aggravated by filthy surroundings." (97321464)

Location was good, Staff were friendly, Good breakfast very promptly served by friendly staff.

The room. It was in dire need of redecoration and updating or at least a damn good scrub. The step into the shower/toilet was loose and came away when I tripped on it. The curtains were filthy. You could still smell cigarette smoke even though the smoking ban started in July. The room had not been adequately prepared before we arrived. My partner trod on a used condom at the side of the bed. This was worsened by the fact that she was bare footed. We subsequently discovered two empty condom packets under the bed.

"Hotel was clean. Restaurant staff were very pleasant. Room was far too small, bathroom was just ridiculous. Traffic noise was very high and made worse because the window needed to be open to let out the heat from the permanantly on radiator. I wouldn't rush back to this hotel, I'd stay there only if I really couldn't find anything else." (97971942)

    It was clean.

Very small, barely enough room for the furniture. Bathroom was an add-on plastic pod, very, very small. Serious traffic noise. Radiator was jammed on full-heat.

"Lack of friendliness of staff. Poor standard breakfast (egg bacon and beans is not a full English). Expensive for what hotel had to offer. No obvious brochures about London. Ok to stay in but try to negotiate a price less than £87 a night - it's not worth that. It doesn't have Sky TV in all rooms - it has a few channels of varied nationalities." (97085777)

    reasonable distance from Central London

Smell of cigarette smoke - noise of fellow guests - thinness of dividing walls

"The room was generally fine for the price we paid. Clean, well made up and the shower was fine. The breakfast was nothing to write home about: in my book a full english breakfast consists of a little more than bacon, eggs, tomatoes and beans. Sausage? Mushroom? A little more would have been nice. The polish serving staff were very nice however." (97320993)

    Quick efficient and friendly

The room was stiflingly hot, and reamined so, even after we asked staff to turn down the heating

"Although the hotel was quite cheap for the area I really do not feel that cleanliness should be compromised at any time." (99973903)

The customer service was very good, helpful and friendly. The fire safety equipment and procedures appeared to have been in order.

The room was not clean, particularly the high and low level cleaning. The shower room had cigarette burns on the sink and shampoo holder area. There was half a cigarette in a drawer. The curtains and windows were very dirty. The portable appliances did appear to have been competently tested. The tea cips tasted like they had been washed in tablet soap, therefore I went to the shops and bought a new mug for me to use. The kettle had not been descaled recently and showed signs of early corrosion.

The hotel smelt of smoke, but soon that wont be the case with the new anti smoking law taking place. All the staff was very helpfull, food and service at breakfsat was good. The double room was small but ok for 1 or 2 nights." (99221207)
