"Check in was good, welcoming & friendly. Lots of stairs to our room, considering my medical condition. Room was and felt like an attic conversion with poor double glazing considering the amount of road noise that could be heard." (97052466)
location, friendly staff, good atmosphere, liked the log fire
room was in the 'attic' area. Lot of road noise could be heard.

"perfect for what we needed at the time" (97756263)
excellent staff and service
The bathroom was looking a little tired and the shower was the size of the ones used in the hairdressers

"I got what I expected, paid what I expected. I did not expect the high quality of the service and restruant menu. The food surpassed anything that I would expect in a small hotel" (97297407)
Everything staff attention was excellent
Stairs to top floor

"A very good hotel the breakfast was adequate, although we did not have an evening meal the menu looked very good. There were many stairs and if one was somewhat disabled or had difficulty in climbing stairs it might be a problem. However, if you contacted the hotel in advance they would try and accomodate you on a ground floor. I would stay there again." (97021975)
Very friendly manager/manageress, nothing was too much trouble for them. In addition the staff were efficient.
The shower was not very powerful.

Very nice rooms and staff. We didn't eat there but I'm sure the food would have been great too.
Only one key per room.

"On arrival we were very pleased with the cleanliness and decor of the hotel and the warm manner in which we were greeted. Although critical of hearing the noise from next door we still felt we had value for money. We were shown other rooms in the hotel which were of a much higher standard and, if we were to stay there again, we would choose one of those - even though the cost would obviously be more." Lovely clean airy room and excellent breakfast
We were in Room No.1 and were disturbed by the guests in the next room when they arose, due to inadequat sound proofing.

"This was for our first nights of married life as we were married in Southport on the day we checked in, so we were very grateful of an upgrade to a suite. The room was clean, bright, and all we'd ask for. Breakfast was excellent both mornings we stayed and the service was genuinely polite - something we don't take for granted. We'd definitely stay there again - maybe for the 20th anniversary..." (99202591)
The room was classically decorated and upholstered, which felt special. A very comfortable room, with everything we needed.
If anything, the shower wasn't the most powerful...

"From checking in at the hotel we were made to feel at home and the owner and staff were very friendly and attentive. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the choice of breakfast was very good, As we visit Southport a few times a year to visit family we will certainly choose this hotel again." (99294166)

"I booked this hotel for our recent stay in Southport as my husband and I had stayed there about three years ago. We were pleasantly surprised then but even more so now. From the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was spotless with the attention to detail second to none. The fresh flowers throughout the hotel were beautifully scented and the vases and water were clean. The flexibility of having our own front door key meant that we could enjoy our evening out without the pressure of a curfew to meet. Breakfast was very relaxed and enjoyable and the food and service could not be faulted. I will certainly recommend this hotel to family and friends alike and would have no hesitation in booking again on our next overnight (or longer) visit to Southport. An excellent and most enjoyable stay!" (99639920)
Everything - the small personal touches were especially welcome

"The hotel is very clean and staff are friendly . It is however further to walk to Lord street and the promenade than we had anticipated. when we went downstairs at 7pm, we found that there was no television or radio there, just a game of scrabble and some books . It was extremely quiet, nice if you want a relaxing stay. It was only when we looked at a leaflet advertising the hotel that we read that there was a bar in the hotel; unfortunately we were not informed of this, although I do think that this was an oversight as the proprieters were busy serving lunch as we arrived. Breakfast was very nice and the staff serving the food were very polite and friendly." (97367291)
Very pleased with the decor and cleanliness
no television or music in lounge
