"We had a simply wonderful experience at the Liner Hotel, Liverpool. From walking into a classy reception, to the helpful staff, especially the Concierge, who gladly stored our suitcases before our room was ready (we arrived too early), and even after we had checked out, he looked after them til we left for the airport. The breakfast was lovely the next morning.... we simply had a great time, in a prime location, and would highly recommend it to anyone. The bedroom was bright and spacious, clean and tidy and well equipped for our overnight stay. The hotel lobby had many information slips of what to do in the city, and all staff were only too helpful if we needed any help. A wonderful place. We will definitely be back!!!!!!!!" (97169858)

The hotel was bright, clean, spacious, bright and had a warm welcoming atmosphere.

"We enjoyed the hotel, pity it does nothing for the city's skyline." (107102652)

We liked the ambiance of the hotel and the friendliness/helpfulness of the staff. Although we normally seek out small family-owned hotels we would be happy to stay at this one again. This time we travelled by car which is unusual for us and in a future visit to Liverpool we would regard the proximity to Lime Street Station a real bonus. The buffet style breakfast arrangements worked well for us.

We found no bad points but two or three niggles in the bathroom: the shower height adjustment wouldn't work nor the water outlet; I had to use a nail file to ease out the plug because the mechanism didn't function.

"The Liner is a great hotel to stay." (108013231)

Very convenient location, close to centre and next door to Lime Street train station. Staff is very helpful and friendly, went out of their way to give us information about places to see and things to do in Liverpool. The beds are wonderful; the breakfast room is pleasant and breakfast gives lots of choices.

It would be good if guests were given a choice to use the same towels and sheets again. This would save energy and water.

"Overall, had I been staying for more than one night I would have complained particularly about the fact that we were in a smoking room when we had specifically requested a non smoking room when booking on the internet." (97944556)

Bed nice and soft; good breakfast selection but hotel needs to provide Canderel in its granulated form and not just the tablets so that you can put it on your cereal; nice to receive the drinks vouchers even though we didn't use them; great that it was so close to the station so very easy to get to; nice breakfast restaurant with great windows even if the view wasn't great; round the corner from Liverpool Lime Street station; fantastic idea of the tea/coffee service pull out drawer in the bedroom, as well as the tray! Kettle boiled really fast but a bit more variety of drinks and sugars would have been nice, however, the saucers were both dirty and we had to rewash them before we could use them.

Poor layout of bathroom - towels were opposite the shower but to reach them you had to really stretch, you also had nowhere to put used towels just to wipe your hands so you had to put them back on top of the clean ones, the bathroom needs another rail closer to the sink, you shouldn't have to stretch over the bath to reach towels just to wipe hands; smoking room given when non smoking was requested; toilet didn't flush properly and no toilet brush!; TV remote didn't work properly, channel changing required much pressing of "OK" button; pedal bin presser didn't work so had to use hands to open bin; room really smelt of smoke; lift was very slow to come to floors; no form of air con in the room at all, especially the bathroom; only one window opened to provide air but not much; saucers were both dirty and due to that we didn't trust the cups so everything was rewashed first; TV was badly placed as it should have been at the foot of the bed so that both parties could see it or somewhere in the room where it could be seen by all. As it was, it was to my left which meant that my partner couldn't see it properly and when we sat at the coffee table neither of us could see it because there was a chair in front of it which had to be moved all the time!; Should be able to put the bathroom light on from the bedside so that you don't disturb the other person when you put the light on.

The moment we arrived the porter went out of his way to help us with directions. He was very welcoming and always asked if we had had a nice day and showed an interest in what we had done. Also the breakfast was very nice.

We arrived at the hotel at 12 noon after a long car journey and were told we could not check in until 2pm. We had booked for two nights via the internet, however after a full day of sight seeing on our second day we arrived back at the hotel in time to get ready and go out for a meal and we found our room had not been cleaned. We were told by the cleaner that they thought we were checking out that day. We were disappointed that our bed had not been made and the towels had not been changed.

"Very good exept the lifts" (97561703)

A very good hotel at a good price

Two out of three lifts (elevators) did not work the last two days, thank god (if I can say so) I'm in good shape, staying on the 4th floor like I did or even higer, would not have been great, when leaving carrying a bag from the room down, or whaiting for the staff to carry one own bags, bad idea.

from Ipawich , GB  on  June 10, 2008

"Overall a decent value for money experience." (97742984)

Reception, Bar where used and good. The breakfast to room service is good value at £2.00. We blew a fuse using the hair drier, but a maintenance man sorted it in less than 10 minutes. That was good. There was a good selection of channels on the TV. We had no time to watch, but on a longer stay this would have been apreciated.

The room was a bit small and when we arrived it was a bit stuffy. We had to open the window to let in some air. The fuse blowing while using hair drier. No toilet brush.

"Overall, very satisfied. Dissapointed about the theme not living up to my expectations, but if I had never been told about a theme, I would rate the hotel as very good." (97213308)

Following a mis-understanding about seating areas, Myself and my business partner were escorted through hotels back passages by very courteous staff to the correct area and given a pot of tea free of charge - I am not judging them on the grounds of something going wrong, but how they dealt with it. I felt valued as a customer.

Hotel supposed to be ocean themed, but looked like a block of council flats from the outside with little if any similarity to an ocean liner inside. I don't think they need this 'gimmick' as the hotel is great in any case.

I stayed at the beginning of the month - on enquiring about my non-functioning TV, I was told it was a problem throughout the hotel and they hoped to have it fixed by the end on the month - fat lot of use that was!" (97326396)

comfortable bed - quiet room, free city centre carparking

no working TV, bedside lights, broken toilet seat and had to change room to get a working internet connection!

The food was excellent and the choice of food was vast. Our room overlooked the railway line but this did not affect us. Coffee/tea facilities in room as well as hair dryer, iron and trouser press. Bathroom was well stocked and clean. There was also a safe in the room. I wuld have no hesitation in returning to this hotel and would recommend it to any one young or old." (97221715)

"Generally very good. The bed was comfortable and the room temperature was perfect and very clean, I liked the ironing facilities in the room but a fridge would have been good. There was no recepetion on the television which was annnoying. The shower was great although it is annoying when the taps dont indicate which is hot and which is cold. Breakfast was ok, although we had to search to find a clean table and then ended up sitting on a half used table as there wasnt a table for 2, there were plenty of tables but they hadnt been cleared or relaid. Also the waitress took an age to come to the table and bring us toast. Having said that I would stay there again as it is perfectly situated for the station" (97717133)
