"A warm and friendly hotel with good accomodating staff. Fairly basic but very clean and very spanish. Although other hotels may be a bit closer to the slopes this is a great place to stay because of the village and friendly people. I will certainly use this hotel again for skiing breaks." (97467888)
It was in the perfect spot to enjoy the sierra nevada ski resort and positioned in the beautiful centre of the village with all the local bars and restaurants with very friendly people and staff.
The worst problem we came across was the initial finding of the hotel as the sat nav would not register in the mountains but the problem could be resolved by using a map from your computor. Also the hotel is not marked from the surrounding streets and the name is only written over the door and not in bright neon lights. Nobody at the hotel could speak or understand english which could be a problem if you do not speak spanish.

Very clean and very good value for money. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful although if you don't speak a certain amount of Spanish I would imagine it being fairly difficult to communicate.

"in general, we shall definately return to the Hotel Juan Fransico. It is an approximate 40 min drive to the slopes, which is the reason for our stay. It is a quiet and pretty village, catering for all your needs - a supermarket, banks, coffee houses. It is an excellent location to also visit Granada and the surrounding areas. We all thought the value for money was excellent and would wholeheartedly reccommend for the future." (97951578)
The rooms were all very clean and comfortable and had great views of the seirra's. The hotel was very spanish, but very accomodating and friendly -all the staff were very helpful and the platefuls of tapas given with the drinks ordered in the bar were exceptional. The food in the restaurant was very well priced and lovely and we all enjoyed a few nights eating here. There are also a few local bars and a restuarant serving top quality food and drink. An extremely pleasant and comfortable stay for me and my party
The only thing i would say is that there hallways carried quite a lot of noise. There was a larger party staying in the hotel on our first night and the children playing could be heard quite clearly - but they soon tired and after a day of snowboarding, so had we! It is not an issue though, it is always difficult to soundproof older buildings

"Only thing missing was a document/guide to the Hotel and facilities, ie we found the lounge by default, and although time didnt permit in practise, we didnt find the swimming pool - a minor consideration. In all we enjoyed our overnight stay to enable us to visit Granada and travel in comfort. We were well aware that in the villages Spanish is predominantly spoken." (99224976)
Spanish hotel in proper Spanish village.

"This was a lovely hotel, the rooms were large and spotlessly clean with air conditionong, heating and beautiful mountain views from the balcony. The staff did not speak any English but were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is right in the centre of the village, up a narrow steep street and with a very steep slope into the car park - but it is quite accessible and not as bad as it looks! It is not signed as Hotel Juan Francisco in the village, only 'Hotel and Resturant' but any local will point you in the right direction. The village is very lively and authentically Spanish - we had a wonderful evening at Bar Poli at the top of the village - no menu, you eat what has been cooked for that day. the owner speaks very good English. The Camino Estrella is well worth doing, we only went as far as the Mirador Genil, beautiful scenery, a very clear path and not a difficult walk.(From the Sunflower Guide)" (99555529)
Very clean. large bedroom and bathroom. friendly family feel. situated in a lovely area.
Not well signed and acess is very steep.

"The purpose of the stay at the Hotel Juan Francisco was to ski in the Sierra Nevada. The journey from Alicante to Granada and then onwards to the Sierra Nevada was made pleasant by quiet roads and breathtaking scenery. Upon arriving in the village of Güéjar Sierra, the immediate impression is that the village is in ‘real’ Spain, untouched and unspoilt by tourist developments. It is a place that many would look for and seldom find. The locals who were encountered were all found to be friendly and relaxed which was an attitude that was reflected in the Hotel owners and staff. Here is a place where the word stress does not exist. The rooms are functional with air-conditioning and on-suite facilities and were found to be completely acceptable. Again the rooms like the rest of the hotel are kept immaculate by the diligent staff. The restaurant food and wine was good and of a reasonable value, however the standard did drop slightly when a large contingent of people descended on the restaurant. What is particularly recommended are the complimentary tapas that were served with each drink in the public bar. The tapas were varied and always of a high quality. Many in the hotel were resident with the purpose of skiing in the Sierra Nevada, the slopes are some 40 minutes away and no ski bus operates between Güéjar Sierra and the ski base resort of Pradollano. To those who place a great emphasis on the party scene after a day on the slopes, then the it may not be suitable, however to those who are more reserved then the location is ideal. The hotel offers great value for money, a superb base to explore the area and also a shelter to those who shy away from exuberant après-ski activities. A definite recommendation from the writer." The hotel has very stylish décor which immediately stands out upon entering the building. The rooms are kept clean and all the staff were friendly and very helpful.
I cannot fault the accommodation or the village that it was in, however we were their to ski in the Sierra Nevada, and the hotel is still some 38 kilometres away from the slopes.
