Lots of things to love about this:
Beautiful quiet location
Very well fitted and presented huts - we were so surprised at how much was in it.
Really comfortable bed
Exceptionally clean toilet and shower room
Lovely little welcome pack of biscuits and milk and coffee pods
We loved that dogs were welcome and at no extra cost - thank you!
Shower was lovely and hot and good pressure
Owner was so helpful - we booked last minute as tired (been on road for long time) and he kindly booked us in at pub for dinner.

A busy town and lots of traffic. Worth exploring, but I didn't have the time, other than looking at the old jail. Good mid-way stopping point if travelling further into Cornwall. The hotel served a very good breakfast and the evening meal was well prepared: the lamb that I had was beautifully cooked. The options for puddings were mainly cake-based and personally, I found my meringue option a tad sweet (as one might expect) with no pouring cream to calm it down!AllanUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

It’s looking tired but it’s the gateway to lots of other places. Plymouth is within reach maybe 40mins by car. The prison has the attraction of the museum with guided tours which are great fun The prison, now hotel is absolutely wonderful. Great gala night for new year with the best food ever. The Bodmin folk are so friendly and will advise on where to eat to suit your budget. The Eden project is a great trip to make even on a rainy day. Was visiting a sick relative in the hospital & hotel very convenient for that. Have always been in transit elsewhere so didn't know the town well. So attractive and clean. Very friendly people who readily helped direct or help in other ways. I have relatives who came from Probus and Devonshire so visited both counties from 1946 onwards and think changes by and large sensitive and well carried out. The beauty of the county and rural nature has been largely preserved and if controlled population increase measures are sympathetically controlled, the character of the county ought to be preserved along with its beauty.Arlene - 10Scored 10

A great experience, the renovation work is amazing throughout the hotel! We only stayed there for 1 night but we would have liked to have spend more time. However and it’s not the hotels problem, we had watched You Tube videos of different people’s experiences and almost to a man/women the commented on the spookiness of the place. We didn’t experience any of that once we got inside it was a superb hotel and the three converted cells were very spacious and well fitted out. Would definetly stay again if in the area. Thank you to the team for looking after us so well.

WE were told that the bar terrace overlooked the lake but the busehes in form tof the terrace had grown so high you could not see the lake. Arrival reception could have been a little more friendly and helpful and some outside areas aroudn the bar looked a bit scruffy but the lodge was perfect and exceeded expectations.

The layout of the apartment is very well designed and the space has wonderful natural light, good views out of the dorma windows. Kitchen well equipped. Very clean and comfy stay. I wasn’t on holiday, it was a place to stay to be close in proximity to visit my dad at Bodmin Hospital. The apartment became my sanctuary. Thank you.
