Great hotel, nice and clean, very comfortable bed, the food was very good. The staff were excellent , nothing was too much trouble for them, very friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated in a wonderful location,it is literally a stones throw from the beach, there is a really nice promenade to walk along the coast.
The views from the hotel are great, you can see across the Solent.

I went to Ryde, partly because there's a bus direct from East Cowes and the ferry - I don't take the car - and partly to see more of it. I'm not a beach lover but Ryde beach is good for those that are, and in season there's the pleasure pool etc for kids at the east end of the town. Buses go regularly to Newport, Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor and Bembridge, and the Island Line Railway also goes to Shanklin, And up and down the pier. There are the hovercraft to / from Southsea, the bus / tram museum and shops to potter in. Eating places - Castle Hotel is good - and wonderful ice cream

We were on the island to visit various places so the location did not really matter as we had the car, however having now travelled all around next time we would choose a location with more of a little town environment. There was very little in Ryde.

Ryde buildings and look is tired and needs some refreshing, the train service is, at best, erratic with many cancellations which is annoying if you need to get to Smallbrook Junction. They say you can use the train ticket for the bus but the bus does not go there! However the bus service is good and reliable. The Alamo steak house is very good, excellent steaks cooked as requested.

Great cafes and restaurants.
Great cafes and restaurants. I was really impressed by the homemade cakes on offer. It makes such a change from the massproduced rubbish.
Loved the walks potential. I really wished I had stayed longer.

Apart from the Esplande and having a nice view from hotel room, very disappointed with Ryde.
Very tired looking town. High street shops not very good and lack of restaurants that you would like to eat in.
On the whole not a place we would revisit.
The apartment is in a quiet residential area, so we all slept well. Views from the apartment are amazing. We loved watching the ships on the Solent. Location was really good, close walk to beach and shops etc. The local beaches were lovely. Not overcrowded and safe for kids to play on. Ryde itself is ok, not to dissimilar to most UK towns but has the bonus of being by the sea. Some great places to eat i.e Ada Mediterranean Kitchen and Michaelangelo Italian Restaurant. Would avoid the Pavilion and The Ryde Castle Pub.
The hotel is situated in a fantastic seafront location, ideal for exploring the town.
The rooms were bright and airy with neutral decor.
The bed was a standard double with a soft mattress.
Access to kitchen and dining area facilities were a Godsend in the hot weather, as we could cool our water, and had space to relax.
Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were very generous.
An old building so big rooms and large windows made it feel very spacious.
The hotel was well cleaned whilst we were there.
I stayed in Room 9. A good size family room. I did not have breakfast. The location was very good for FastCat and Hovercraft. Close to the beach although half way up the high street a little steep but not an issue. Good location for railway and buses. Great beach at Ryde. The hotel is a pub but no noise in my room. Clean and the staff helpful when I arrived. Coffee/tea available in the room
Nice residential area a little away from the centre of town. As we had a vehicle it was not a problem with our being able to visit the entire island without difficulty. Fiona and her husband Neil were very helpful and approachable offering part of their garden for outdoor use. The flat was in excellent condition with all mod. cons. Would highly recommend.
Very beautiful apartment with all facilities. It is actually bigger than looks in the picture. Very good location, from the Ryde ferry it is 5 min walk and all the bus stations to go anywhere in the isle of Wight are within 10min walk.
There is Co-Op and Iceland shop within 5min walk so you can have all the stuff from there.
We came on a last-minute family holiday to the Isle of Wight, and had a wonderful time. the apartment is amazingly located, right in the centre of Ryde on a lovely street. the apartment was beautifully clean,
the host could not have been more helpful and the kids loved the bunk beds.
Thank you!
The hotel has great spa facilities, we especially like the bubble lounge in the spa area!
Staff were nice and welcoming.
Good size rooms and the beds were very comfy!
Good location, 5 minutes from ferry and 10 mins from ryde. There’s a bus station right by the hotel for 15 min travel to ryde.
A great little apartment in the center of Ryde. Great for exploring the Island and a nice peaceful location. Good facilities and the apartment had everything you could need. Kerrie was a great host and it was nice to know she was only on the phone if there were any issues - but we had none!
The hotel is in a central location in Ryde, a few minutes walk from the Esplanade. Room was very comfortable, with a limited sea view. Breakfast was to order on 2 days and a buffet on the other, plenty of options available. All of the staff were friendly and professional. Luke was a star.
Central location in town; well served by buses and close to ferry terminal and rail station. A long established and old-style hotel that offers good food in bar or restaurant. The staff were particularly good natured, friendly and helpful which makes such a difference to staying guests
The owner is wonderful! Very welcoming and accomodating. Hotel is in a good location with some parking available on site. Fridge in the room was a massive bonus! Rooms was a good size for our family of 3. We didn't use but there is a kitchen available on the ground floor.
location was awesome. amazing kitchen facilities! rooms and common areas very clean. can’t say I would stay again because we like quiet locations but if you are in for the pubs and evening life this could be a great place.
This hotel is basic but suited what I needed as a base to visit the island. It’s no frills but is sensibly priced and was clean. Really close to Ryde city centre and the train station all within walking distance
Dorset Hotel was beautiful, clean and very hospitable. The breakfasts were plentiful and the management and staff couldn't do enough for me. The location and views from the Hotel were exceptional.
The room was located near by to reach Ryde (5 mins walk). Space was clean, neat, spacious, comfy. Chris was kind enough to explain us about the island and it's specialities. Thanks Chris :)
All went very well. The dining room was very nice and the breakfasts very good. The bedroom was in a quiet spot and comfortable. The hotel for me was in a perfectly centrally located.
